"31% of White Evangelicals Say They’ll Support Trump No Matter What He Does"

That sounds good too. Now why do you have such a hard time following that? One cannot seriously support Trump and follow that philosophy.

someone who espouses a view, perspective, or philosophy without adhering in any meaningful way to it themselves, especially if they claim that their philosophy applies to all people...I think there’s a word for that.

Ill tell you what could change my mind about trump.

If he changed his values and swung left wing and joined the democrats.
So no crime no matter how severe or vile would dislodge your tongue from his boot treads as long as he's towing the party line?
Your lack of morality makes Jesus weep.

I dont condone murder, theft, rape, lying, ect. But, id rather have all of that in a leader who in turn produces good results for the country over a leader who is none of those things, but is a democrat communist which would destroy the country!

The fact youd rather have it the oposite tells me that your the one with the real lack of morality. And Jesus isnt a socialist/communist.

I telling you left wingers are evil doesn't inform you a whole lot.

You telling me your a left winger doesn't inform me a whole lot either.

Hello. As a tree-hugging socialist, I would bet you know few, if any, people as left-wing as me. And we are brothers in Christ.

My point is that you should not make such wild generalizations. By the way, the last poll I saw on this suggested that about 30% of self-indentified evangelical Christians consider themselves to be liberal.

Luke 6:37-42
Etc.

And yet no follower of Trump has been able.to show how he did anything that has helped the economy.

Do you have anything?

I in fact in my prior post to you made it quite clear that there was no wild generalization. I said i dont know you basically. When i say left wingers i have something very specific in mind. When you say your a left winger, i dont know what you have in mind.

Before i can call you specifically evil, i have to know specifically what you believe. Just telling me you believe in jesus and the left wing politics does not truly tell me anything about who you truly are and what all of those words mean to you.

I have to cross examine.

Let me just say, the democrate candidates running now, if you agree with them, then i would have to say you believe in evil ideas.

Something that goes right to the heart of the White Evangelical mindset.

"The researchers at the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) just released their 2019 American Values Survey, and there’s one graph in particular that says so much about the state of religion in this country. It concerns how various religious groups see Donald Trump: Do they like him? And could he do anything to change their minds?

It’s not surprising that white evangelicals overwhelmingly support him. They don’t care about — or are willing to overlook — his affairs, scandals, inhumanity, ignorance, racism, and blatant pandering. It’s also not a shock that non-religious people and Black Protestants mostly disapprove of him.

But look at the far ends of the bars. They represent whether those groups are open to changing their minds.

While 75% of white evangelicals approve of Trump’s performance in office, 31% of them say there’s literally nothing he could do to lose their support. He really could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue without it making a difference to his base."

Proof that not everyone who walks into a church actually believes in Jesus. And how anyone who considers themselves to be believers can pledge support for a secular materialist and hedonist is beyond my comprehension. What comes to mind is Jesus saying "one cannot serve two masters, ...", thus they must decide whether they want Trump as their master or Jesus because because Trump and Jesus are diametrically opposed in what they have said and done.

Cut taxes for busineses.
So, ramping up the deficit by an additional $1 trillion per year, which will very much negatively affect our kids and grandkids, is all fine and dandy for you?

Cut regulations for businesses.
Regulations are passed for a reason, so just cutting regulations and expecting everything will work out for the better is complete nonsense and also dangerous. Yes, regulations need to periodically be reviewed, which is why I favor what are called "sunshine laws", but to just cut, cut, cut is foolish and asking for trouble, much like we saw with the Great Recession that started a bit over a decade ago.

You just flat out told everyone you are immoral, and then claimed others are the immoral ones.

If you support a person who murders, steals, rapes, lies, etc. because it gets you what you want, then you are the immoral one. Then, ironically you claim in the next sentence that it would be a leader who has done none of those things (murder, rape, lie, etc.) that would be the truly immoral person, because .... communism, or something.

Wow.

If you skip back to the OP you'll see the issue isn't about the percentage of white evangelicals who appreciate Trump (75% approve of the job he's doing) but the percentage who currently approve, AND say almost nothing Trump could could do would lose their approval.(37%)

Now. . .
The Pew Research Center 2014 survey in the United States identified the evangelical percentage of the population at 25.4 percent while Roman Catholics are 20.8 percent and mainline Protestants make up 14.7 percent.
source:America’s Changing Religious Landscape Pew Research Center May 12, 2015.

Taking the percentage figures (25% and the 37%) for evangelicals in the USA as relatively accurate, this means that about 9.25% of adult Americans, (23,473,548 of them) feel almost nothing Trump could could do would lose their approval.

24.5 million people! Now that's scary

.

.

I'm 37% sure you're wrong, speaking as a white evangelical cis-gendered dude, who likes mostly women and will vote for Trump again, God willing.

Hello. OK, so now you are giving a more nuanced view. Good for you. Don't be so quick to generalize. Before you said all left wing people were immoral.

As far as candidates, this election will be like every other one: choosing the lesser of two evils. Trump's attack on Creation is unparalleled,in my opinion, for example, and for that alone I could never vote for him. To be fair, he has done one good thing: deciding to get our troops out of Syria. But that hardly balances things out.

Arguing politics online is about as fruitful as arguing over abortion. But it intrigues and saddens me a bit when I hear my brothers passing such judgements on people who simply have honest differences in politics, so had to ask. God bless.
