How to have a peaceful life -

As you exist in this world, you do not only live by yourself but among other human beings like you. Living such a life that is intertwined with so many others, may make it a bit complicated to live at times. You are to abide to society’s norms, people judge you on what you say or wear, sometimes you do not perform well because of the harsh criticisms of those around you, or maybe you cannot tell a person you love him or her because you are afraid of losing that person as a good friend. All of these situations make our life complicated. Sometimes we are so enveloped by the complication of life that we forget that we really just have to live it simply.

“How can I live a simple and peaceful life?” This question may pop into your head right now. If the way to living life is that simple, how does one do it? For starters, enumerated down below are ten ways on how to help you live a simple and peaceful life:

Happiness be slow to judge others

We live in a society where value judgments prevail, everybody knows that. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter how much effort you put into something, because there will always be those who will gladly tack a label on you to distinguish you in this world of complex flora and fauna. But it doesn’t matter that this world is as chaotic as a jungle. It doesn’t matter how many times people judge you or put false labels on you.

They’re just words, empty actions, background noise. Because in such a complicated world, the only thing of any value is authenticity, and that is the only thing you should work to preserve every day, in every moment.

10 Reasons to Stop Judging People

Don’t blame yourself. We are instinctively hard-wired for survival. When we see a dog (or a person) that might bite us (literally or metaphorically), of course we feel threatened. We go into fight-flight-freeze mode, and are unable to see the myriad possible reasons for another’s behavior. We get tight and defensive. This is a normal first reaction. The key is to pause before we act out of this mode.

“Whatever the tasks, do them slowly
with ease,
in mindfulness,
so not do any tasks with the goal
of getting them over with.
Resolve to each job in a relaxed way,
with all your attention.”

– Thich Nhat Hanh, Zen Master

In our daily lives, we often rush through tasks, trying to get them done, trying to finish as much as we can each day, speeding along in our cars to our next destination, rushing to do what we need to do there, and then leaving so that we can speed to our next destination.

What I hear from most of my clients and students is that uncertainty is what creates the most difficulty. As much as we would like to know, to control, and to plan every little part of our lives so that it all works out in a way that creates more security and ease, we cannot. Life will always be impermanent and therefore always uncertain. We never really know what is coming next and sometimes the best and most courageous thing we can do is put one foot in front of the other and keep breathing through all of it. The power of learning how to live a mindful life is to embrace this truth as much as you possibly can and live for the moment with some future planning that you hold loosely.

The more we can meet any difficulty with presence, compassion, and kindness, the easier we can move through it. It requires that we learn to stay by turning toward the difficulty versus pushing away.

Meditation trains you to be resilient. The more you can learn to stay with all the highs and lows of your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations, the more strength you can bring to each moment and experience.

It’s worth remembering, then, that we are not designed to be consistently happy. Instead, we are designed to survive and reproduce. These are difficult tasks, so we are meant to struggle and strive, seek gratification and safety, fight off threats and avoid pain. The model of competing emotions offered by coexisting pleasure and pain fits our reality much better than the unachievable bliss that the happiness industry is trying to sell us. In fact, pretending that any degree of pain is abnormal or pathological will only foster feelings of inadequacy and frustration.

Humans aren't designed to be happy – so stop trying

Open mind happier life

On the other hand, if you understand that things aren’t always as they seem, life can be very different. Here are the eight benefits of living with an open mind:

Benefit #1: Your world flourishes. It’s like only being able to see black and white and suddenly realizing that many shades of color exist. Your pallet is expanded from only having two possibilities to now having hundreds of options. Your selection is more plentiful and you’re not so boxed in with minimal selections.

Benefit #2: You free your mind from limiting thoughts. Nothing holds you back more than thinking you know the answers so you never consider other alternatives. When you admit that there are several possible solutions or outcomes, you allow yourself to think beyond the boundaries where you normally would have stopped yourself.

More emails etc -

Emotional perfectionism

Inner peace now finding happiness

More in miracle dream txt ... plus emails to gang & Natasha ...

We tend to think about perfectionism in terms of behaviors and outcomes—acing the exam, hitting our sales numbers each week, ensuring the dinner party goes just right, etc. In other words, perfectionism appears to be about perfecting things out there in the world.

This makes some sense given that the behaviors associated with perfectionism are visible and easy to spot: Staying at work late every night, reviewing the report for a fifth time, putting in an extra half hour on the elliptical, etc.

But just because behaviors are visible and easy to observe doesn’t mean they’re the whole story. Or even the most important part of the story. The way we think about perfectionism is strongly influenced by the way it looks; but looks, as we all know, can be deceiving.

I am no stranger to being dealt a bad hand at certain times in life and using it as an excuse to be miserable and let that misery completely take over my life. I’ve struggled with depression and know firsthand that finding happiness is something only you can do for yourself. It’s not something that can be bought or physically acquired or that someone else can pull you into. You have to do the work to get the results!

After working on myself and my own growth, I’ve realized that having a high sense of self-worth or a high self-esteem and knowing you are worthy of being happy, is the key to true happiness and leading a fulfilled and joyful life.

I’m going to say that again.

You are worthy of happiness -

Hate to break it to you but you deserve to love yourself. You deserve to know what you bring to the table and stop comparing yourself to everyone. You deserve to believe that you have qualities that set you apart no matter who you’re with or who you’re talking to. You deserve to be your own best friend instead of your own worst enemy. You deserve to know your worth and your value and walk away from people who can’t see it. You deserve to ask for your right and stand up for yourself and raise your voice if you have something to say. You deserve to believe that you’re important and that you matter even if no one taught you that you were.

Learning to think positively is like strengthening a muscle; the more you use it, the stronger it will become. Researchers believe that your explanatory style, or how you explain events, is linked to whether you are an optimist or a pessimist.

Optimists tend to have a positive explanatory style. If you attribute good things that happen to your skill and effort, then you are probably an optimist. Pessimists, on the other hand, usually have a negative attributional style. If you credit these good events to outside forces, then you likely have a more pessimistic way of thinking.

Optimists Bounce Back Faster and Stronger

In a study of elite college varsity swim teams, athletes were told by their coach to swim their best event. When finished, the coach provided false feedback about their time, adding a couple seconds. This difference was small enough be believable but large enough to cause disappointment in the swimmers. They were then given a half hour to rest – and presumably, ruminate about the failure they just experienced – and then repeat the event. On the second attempt, pessimistic thinkers swam on average 1.6% slower than their first attempt. The optimistic thinkers, however, swam 0.5% faster than had previously. In the competitive world of swimming, the difference between the optimists and pessimists was the difference between winning and losing an event. Optimists, as it turns out, might actually use failure as fuel to perform even better in the future.
