A Vestigial Mote

Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
Note that I cut the GARBAGE out of your reply, and just stuck with what actually made any sense coming from you.

Do you honestly think that anything you've been posting in here thus far counts as "wisdom" and that I am a "fool?" As far as I can tell, I have been cutting you off at every turn, pointing out where your thoughts are going awry, where you are making bad assumptions, etc. And all you've done is call all of that "insult" and make it out that I was just trying to belittle you. All the while ignoring any of the actual points that I made.

Typical. If you ever wondering why theism finds itself with a pretty bad reputation among atheists you need look no further than your nearest mirror.

You may not have said, "You are an atheist," but you did post the following definition of the word, "atheist":

You then said the following:

This implies that I fit the definition and am therefore an atheist. The whole discussion between us is nonsense. You're an atheist; I'm a theist. For crying out loud, what are we even arguing the point for?

I'll try to keep in mind that you have a problem with the subtleties of the English language. I'll dumb down my future comments to you (if I remember down the road).

Baha'u'llah did everything He did for God.
That is what He clearly said and there is no reason to think He was not telling the truth since there would be no motive to lie.
So, he said it and there is no motive to lie. Do you believe everything Joseph Smith said? David Koresh? Jim Jones?

There is a Christian motto...
God Said It
I Believe It
End Of Story

Therefore, by your own logic, you must believe that Noah and his little family and two of all kinds of animals survived the most horrific storm imaginable in a wooden boat.

Of course I believe Him, because He did everything He said.
What is that supposed to mean?

What "everything" did he do? He wrote a bunch of barely coherent nonsense. I could probably find someone in a prison psych ward who has written better.

Be my guest, particularly if it makes you feel good about yourself. I can assure you, however, that it's quite unnecessary as my B.A. is in English. I graduated magna cum laude and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Regardless of your own personal opinion of my understanding of "the subtleties of the English language," the academic community would almost certainly disagree with your assessment. (This is something, incidentally, which I mention only when someone stoops to insult me, and not because I feel the need to toot my own horn.)

I wonder what would be the reaction of theists if evidence was discovered which proved beyond any shadow of doubt that no god has ever existed, and all faiths are created by humans?

I wonder how atheist will react when we prove they dont exist.

Loving God and my neighbor as myself.
Nope, you've got a problem, that you obviously don't recognize. What you are actually saying, is that a Being, who seems like deity, isn't deity. Of course you don't believe that, however, that is the way it is.

So, 'gospels', or whatever, aside, it doesn't answer that. You believe it does, Jesus is a normal Rabbi to you, so forth. However, that only works if one has your belief.

You can say the gospels, so forth, are made up, it doesn't change that theological inference.

So, no, doesn't answer that aspect of theology.
He doesn't seem like a deity. He seems like a normal man. You cut him, he bleeds.

No, there was clearly no motive to lie.
No, I do not believe the others because they are not Manifestations of God.

No, I don’t have to believe it.

“Mention hath been made in certain books of a deluge which caused all that existed on earth, historical records as well as other things, to be destroyed. Moreover, many cataclysms have occurred which have effaced the traces of many events. Furthermore, among existing historical records differences are to be found, and each of the various peoples of the world hath its own account of the age of the earth and of its history. Some trace their history as far back as eight thousand years, others as far as twelve thousand years. To any one that hath read the book of Jük it is clear and evident how much the accounts given by the various books have differed.

Please God thou wilt turn thine eyes towards the Most Great Revelation, and entirely disregard these conflicting tales and traditions.” Gleanings From the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, pp. 174-175

It would not matter much. The concepts of gods are not founded upon reason and logic so much as a desire to believe.

That might be true for most believers, but not for all believers...
I ran away from God most of my life, because I had no desire to believe.
I do not even have that desire now, but reason and logic finally caught up with me.

That's fair....I was making a generalization and all generalizations tend to fail at some point. However, I was talking about the concepts of god, and not the belief in one. But perhaps I'm splitting hairs there.

You already are an atheist in regard to the vast majority of gods created by man's imaginings.

You lack belief in the existence of many gods.

Be my guest, particularly if it makes you feel good about yourself. I can assure you, however, that it's quite unnecessary as my B.A. is in English. With all of your education and degrees and honorifics, you are unable to comprehend and/or accept: "You already are an atheist in regard to the vast majority of gods created by man's imaginings."

Perhaps it isn't about understanding the language. Perhaps you are just so put off by the word "atheist" that you cannot accept how it applies to you.

So, the first Messenger of God said there was a worldwide flood.
Now, the latest Messenger of God said there was no worldwide flood.

And then, in a very self-serving manner states: "entirely disregard these conflicting tales and traditions".

Messenger Now instructs you to entirely disregard the teachings of Messenger Then.

Messenger Now also cleverly tells you that there will not be another Messenger for 2000 years. That means no one can contradict Him like He is contradicting Previous Messengers for 2000 years.

And you believe this.

The word doesn't put me off in the slightest. I just don't use it to describe myself. I don't have a negative view of atheists at all. I'm just not one. A theist has to believe in a divine power of some kind, and I do. You don't. That's okay by me.
