It's the same across the pond, everyone who voted for Brexit was labelled racist

Not every one, some few had what they believed to be logical objections to Europe, most of which was based on the lies of people like Boris and the misinformation of the sun, express, mirror and political wing of the bbc.

And not often racist but xenophobic. The huge increase in violence against Muslims following the result is testament to the accuracy of the claim

And what part of Europe are the Muslims from? Most of the Muslims in Oxford are pro Brexit

And what has where muslims were born got to do with the price of fish

Note, the UK is far bigger than Oxford.

Also note, anyone who voted was a british citizen, religion was not a requirement of the voters

Several weeks ago, I was informed by a person I trusted -- and who I had never been given reason not to trust -- that an overwhelming weight of science-based evidence had been amassed to the effect that the vast majority of Trump voters were primarily motivated by racism in voting for Trump. I was further told that the science was pretty much settled on the issue.

I passed that information along to Rfers in a thread on the subject.

Yesterday, I learned from the same person that there is new and emerging evidence to the effect that, while a large number of Trump supporters were most likely motivated by racism, "a significant percentage of Trump voters show no evidence of having been motivated by racism in voting for Trump". In short, the science on the subject is still unsettled, despite that I was told it was settled.

Consequently, I owe you all an apology for passing along misinformation on such an important topic.

I had estimated the number of Trump voters who held xenophobic policy opinions to be about 60%...

Has what you have learned agree or disagree with this?

I do not think you understand what is motivating the Trump cultists. People who voted for Trump are voting for an anti-establishment candidate. Essentially, the carefully crafted propaganda message Trump was conveying was, "Vote for me and you are saying eff you to both parties." This message is wildly successful. People really hate the ruling class of both parties.

If Trump doesn't get impeached then Trump is a shoe-in to win. However, Trump really stuck his foot down his own throat with the Ukraine thing. There's only so many laws you can break before impeachment becomes real. He admitted he broke the law and incriminated himself several times on TV. Trump is his own worse enemy.

The detailed survey I saw suggests otherwise...

The way to know if a survey is accurate is if it
says what you want it to say.

The way to invite apathy, deny evidence and to halt discussion is to gaslight until everything and everyone is not worthy of our consideration or our trust. Then what you have left is nothing to build on.

An extreme position there.

Well i would not be offended by anything you said because I don't believe it. I do believe Trump is a racist hater and has many many racist hater followers.

But he also has nice folks like my conservative Christian sisters whoa re just blinded and mislead by him.So no I would not say ever that his followers are all bad. There are nice people on politics who argue against me all the time but on other threads we get along well.

I think a good percentage of people here are nice but some of us are mislead. I also think Trump exploited Christians by saying he became a born again Christian when he didn;t. He knew that was the only way to get Christians to vote for him.
So he exploited the Christian religion. It blinded many respecting Christians.
