The power of the Affect - Trump and the Keep American Great Rally

The spelling seems ok

Didnt see no metrics

As much as we may wish to support all of our views with pristine logic and metrics, alas, the world demands something else of us.

In this case, as in so many, there is no reliable, independent, objective source of metrics.

Often, we rely on our impressions of the world and the subconscious processes which ‘sum them up’, much as we may wish to accurately calculate our answers such that they are untainted by subjectivity.

That may be true.
Although you did initiate it.

I dont have a dog in this american civil war
of left v right, that being the fight I referred to.

I questioned what seemed to me an unrealistic
claim of the sort that both sides keep shouting
to no evident purpose other than ginning up
more tension.

That my questioning it is taken as starting a fight
seems sadly representative of what the Americans
are doing to themselves.

Fair point. I agree.
I would only add that I think that a major contributing factor to that is a rising panic, as the population grasps the fact that there are major hidden influences at work, which are riding roughshod over the notion of the will of the people.
There’s definitely shooters on the grassy knoll.

As in deep corruption yeah. It is really too bad.

If there is an epitaph for Americs some day it
may read:

What A Waste

Which is sad.
The US has made huge contributions to global culture. Without doubt American culture has had a big and positive influence on me.

Yes and they clearly tap into the emotional networks to override what is rational.

In that sense Trump is an accomplished story-teller who knows how to take ambiguity and spin out an intriguing narrative...also known as gaslighting.

"Hunter Biden got 1.5 Billion dollars from a China deal."

Are you quibbling about "made" vs "got"?

No, there is a huge difference.

"The bank got a deposit of 1.5 billion"

"The bank made 1.5 billion"

How did you miss that? :D

True, I suppose. So DID HB arrange for the investment
company he is involved in to get that huge chunk o change
from China, or not?

I love the USA. Sad to be leaving.

I am sad for the future, as I think the USA
will self-destruct.

There is a prevalent image that the USA cannot divide yet there has already been one war to divide it in the past and Trump already has claimed that there will be a civil war if he is impeached. Thankfully Trump is continuing to make so many ridiculous mistakes that we can still feel confident that civil war is not yet imminent except in his mind.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
That's how propaganda works. Targeting emotions. Certain people are vulnerable to propaganda and don't realize what's going on until it's too late.
Yeah, like when socialist Democrats say, "It's for the children".

Purely cognitive, not emotional at all.

First your use of socialist Democrats is along the same line as fascist Republicans and attempt to utilize emotional responses associated with the descriptive words. Both sides use emotional networks. That is how humans work. Recognizing it and being careful no to let it override all rational understanding needs to occur on both political sides.

The majority of socialist Democrats are not blue dog Democrats anymore. It's hardly emotional, instead its fact. One look at Bernie Sanders and AOC and 'the squad' and there you are. The mouthpiece of pretty much the entire party as it stands today.

Also it is true that both parties habitually use emotional tethers and some clearly use emotion more than others.

Carrie Nation wanted alcohol prohibited to protect children. She was not a socialist Democrat. Her primary motivation was her Jesus beliefs.

Carrie Nation - Wikipedia
Carrie Amelia Nation (forename sometimes spelled Carry;[1] November 25, 1846 – June 9, 1911) was an American woman who was a radical member of the temperance movement, which opposed alcohol before the advent of Prohibition. She is remembered for attacking alcohol-serving establishments (most often taverns) with a hatchet.

Nation was also concerned about tight clothing for women. In fact, she refused to wear a corset and urged women not to wear them because of their harmful effects on vital organs.[2]

She described herself as "a bulldog running along at the feet of Jesus, barking at what He doesn't like",[3] and claimed a divine ordination to promote temperance by destroying bars.[4]

And there are the anti-pornographers Jesus believers who need to protect the children.

PORNOGRAPHY IS A SIN! ... a woeful curse upon America!
Sleazy pornographers have been trying to get the Supreme Court to legalize virtual child porn, that is, child pornography generated on a computer that is not real. The fact of the matter is that a person would not be able to tell the difference between virtual child porn verses actual children being filmed by pornographers. The end result would be devastating for children.

Which socialist Democrats were you referring to? If I'm not mistaken, most Jesus Folk are Trump Republicans.
