I believe parents should discuss with their children all aspects of sex in an age appropriate way as soon as they start to ask questions. We did this with ours, no subject was taboo.

My wife's and my rule of thumb on this was when they ask the right questions they get the right answers. Our oldest daughter was 4, our youngest daughter was 6, and our son was 7.
Also, we agreed that whoever got the question had to answer it, and it ended up with me in all three cases.

Let's look at the Scriptures and see what you're trying to sweep under the rug in order to try to justify illicit gay sex sin:
Leviticus 18:22 - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
Romans 1:26-27 - "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."
1 Timothy 1:8-10 - “But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine…”
Jude 7 – “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.”
There's no gay marriages in the Old Testament; No gay marriages in the New Testament; no gay sex approved anywhere in the Bible. Just the opposite - gay sex is condemned in both testaments. God is consistent on that.
And to close:
Dr. Bruce Metzger of Princeton Theological Seminary mentions other references to Sodom's sexual immorality in 3 Maccabees 2:5: "the people of Sodom who acted arrogantly, who were notorious for their vices." And again in Jubilees 16:6: "the uncleanness of the Sodomites."

As a mother I did the 'where do babies come from' discussion when our girls were very young. As they got older both my husband and I had discussions with them, often at the meal table. We had one rule, we didn't talk about sex if my mother was present, she would have died of embarrassment. She left it to me as her eldest child to inform my younger sisters about the facts of life, which was very remiss of her.

I realized that the Bible was invented by humans. Humans with primitive ethics and science and such.
Nothing to do with God.
God doesn't care about homosexuality. You might, but you aren't God.

What makes you think that the Bible is "God-inspired"? It does not even make that claim. At best it only says that "scripture" which is largely undefined, is "God-inspired" and that is just a claim of the Bible. If Harry Potter claimed that it was "God-inspired" would that make it true?
The God inspired claim is one that you need to justify. And since the failures of the Bible are almost endless that seems like a very difficult task for you.
