The latest madness

I bought a new in box PSOne. To elaborate, the PSOne is a 19 year old game system that they stopped making probably 16 years ago.

Try to guess what I paid for it.

One American Dollar?

Heh.

These systems do have their uses. For that reason, they go about $30-$40 in only "fair" condition on Ebay.

But given that this one's untouched outside of a scratch or two on the outer box, well, I paid under the average of about $145 and got what collectors might consider a "steal" at only $115. By looking at a lot of listings until I found a deal.

Though I should point out, while the gamers wanting the latest systems will pay $60 or so a game, the average PSOne game costs around $7-$8.

I have two teenage sons. We have a PS4 but I don’t use it except for Netflix. Am I showing my age?

It depends. I'm 30 and I consider playing a game on PS4 a chore. Whereas on the PS4, to play a game you typically have to connect to internet, and wait a hour for the disc to install to its hard drive and for the internet to download updates, the PS2, GameCube and original XBox and systems before, you just popped the game in and it played.

So to an extent, I don't find PS4 very useful either. :)
