Book IV of Psalms seems to have an expanding call to the nations
The prelude refers to the promise that the messiah will crush the serpent
It ends on a dark note with man being sinful and unfaithful.
and yet God being faithful, will keep his promises

An invitation to joinf the global chorus for the shepherd king

How does your view reach to the world?
or does it keep to itself?

Your link is actually a discussion of Psalm 90-106. (Not the 4th Psalm as the OP suggests)

Please bear with me as I believe an explanation is in order.....the details are important.

There are 150 psalms which were composed by various writers, known and unknown, among those known being Moses, Asaph, Heman and David, (who wrote seventy-three of them).
They contain counsel, appeals, expressions of confidence, repentance, prophesy and a host of other things that concern human behavior and its affect on their relationship with God. Many of them were songs of praise to God.

When Jesus came, David had already spoken about a promised seed that was to come in his family line, (the Jews hailed Jesus as the "son of David") and even predicted the time, when he had completed his mission, that he would sit and await action by God to begin his rulership over the earth and for God's purpose in connection with David's "Lord" to come to fruition.

Psalm 110:1-2...
"Jehovah declared to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand
Until I place your enemies as a stool for your feet.”
2 Jehovah will extend the scepter of your power out of Zion, saying: “Go subduing in the midst of your enemies.”

So David's "Lord", (the promised Messiah) was to sit at God's right hand "until" his enemies were "placed as a stool for his feet".
At that time, Messiah was to "go subduing in the midst of his enemies". This indicates that Christ's rulership was to begin with stiff opposition from his enemies, who today are vastly different from those he encountered in the first century. Today there are not only religious enemies but also the godless who are gaining ground in the battle for the hearts and minds of men. These are influencing the people and the lawmakers to increase hostility towards those whose religious practices seem foreign to them.

Those who want to retain faith in God and in the power of his prophesies are dwindling, but this was not to surprise us...it was actually foretold. (Matthew 7:13-14)

When Jesus was to return as the appointed King, authorised by God to "subdue" people, despite the actions of his enemies, it indicates that some, although not the majority, would side with their King.

Jesus himself indicated that the circumstances heralding his return would be "like the days of Noah" (Matthew 24:37-39).....so what is the comparison? There are many.....but most notably was the fact that people took no notice of Noah's warning about God's future actions to halt the widespread violence and immorality that dominated their thinking. Noah appeared to be somewhat of a "nutcase"...someone that the people preferred to ridicule, rather than someone to be heeded. So the messenger may not be someone who looks or even sounds credible. And the warning itself may not sound as if the coming action is even possible.

Sooooo.....
Popular opinion is not always a good indicator of what is true.

God always warns people about his intentions and gives them opportunity to inform themselves and take appropriate action to save themselves.

The way he does that in the Christian Era is through the preaching work that Jesus commanded (Matthew 28:19-20).....it wasn't a suggestion for those who might want to engage in it....it was a direct command, despite the negative response of the general population. It was to be a virtual search and rescue mission.

So from the JW perspective, we take that command very seriously. Very few people have never heard about us or have never received a visit from us. To many we are just a nuisance, but we care about the welfare of all, and are simply trying to give them an opportunity to survive another global catastrophe that they probably don’t think is coming.

We have a website JW.ORG that receives thousands of visits every day with people requesting Bible studies. These people see in world events similarities to the days of Noah and are concerned about the future. We can assure them that everything they see was prophesied in the Bible, and that the outcome is guaranteed by the one whose power created the Universe.

You just have to be "on the ark" (figuratively speaking) or you take your chances with a world that is rapidly heading towards an unthinkable future of its own making. :(

actually... it doesn't say Psalm 4, it says Book IV of the Psalms.
Book IV is psalms 90-106 and in the original scriptures there are 5 books of Psalms in the Bible.

In the protestant numbering (as Catholics number slightly different)

Both mention the book number around the start of each section
Book I psalms 1-41
Book II psalms 42-72
Book III psalms 73-89
Book IV psalms 90-106
Book V psalms 107-150

Poetically Book IV relates to the book of Numbers, the wanderings in the wilderness
which makes sense it concerns the 'shephed king' who led them

If you prefer... an older discussion is here...

Psalms book 4: Wandering songs for the travels and travails of life

Do you like the new one or the old one from a few years ago better?

Be your own guru
Yes, thank you. I believe we are of the same mindset on this issue. Hindus and Buddhist or followers of Buddha's teachings, agree that trying to force (your) religion or doctrines or threats of big bad God gonna get you, are childish, arrogant, harmful and useless for understanding and finding our relationships with the unknown, or spiritual, gods or what ever one wants to call the unknown .

People need to accept the path of others without expecting nor demanding change to their own view, nor judge another person's personal path if that path is in the spirit of living a fruitful and compassionate life. Those paths meant to change, judge, condemn, hate or control the lives and paths of others are just plain wrong.

Do we agree?
Yes, completely and emphatically. To each his/her own.

Sorry, I was aware that some had misinterpreted the OP, thinking that it was about the 4th Psalm.

Personally, I got a lot out of this article....
The Book of Psalms—Curative for the Heart — Watchtower ONLINE LIBRARY

The Psalms are a wonderful collection of God’s interaction with men, of their personal experiences in life, written by the hands of his earthly servants for their benefit and ours, even all this time after they were penned. They help us to appreciate that humans are humans, no matter what time period they live in, and that human nature doesn’t really change.....but one thing remains true....obeying the Creator is the best way to protect ourselves from ourselves. Relying on God is better than relying on ourselves because we are facing the biggest crisis that the people of planet Earth have ever had to experience. It is a multi-faceted assault on life as we know it.

People now realize that “the end of the world” is a very real possibility....but now it looks like it may happen by the hand of man. Perhaps now they may be thinking that they put their trust in the wrong people....?

What do you see as the future for those of us who haven't thrown God away?

Who is they? Somewhere around 95 percent of the human population has been listening to and acting on behalf of God for centuries. American is even claimed to be a Christian nation by many. Listening to God has gotten us to where we are today. How well has that worked?

Or are you suggesting a paltry 5 percent of non-god humans have been able to get us into this mess by themselves? If so, how so? And how did the 95 percent allow that to happen?

Does your religious view have a call to the nations to worship God and how?

Three questions.
1. By answering questions.
2. No, it does not keep to itself. I find many other people coming to same or similar conclusions. Often I incorporate or recycle spiritual ideas of others. I doubt very much I have ever come up with anything original so I never have enough ego to ever claim any of my ideas are of my own creation.
3. Absolutely not.

Your third question and the title of the thread is more interesting to me. According to my religious views and way of thinking everything in the World is perfect exactly the way it is. Anytime we purposely go out and try to "teach" other people how to worship God we are expressing contempt for the way things are right now. When we have contempt we are not just being critical of other people. Since God is responsible for everything in creation, we are ultimately having contempt for God when we try to teach other people and nations how to worship God in a particular way. To respect God means with must not have any judgments at all with regards to everything in God's creation. We must simply have faith people with figure out a way to properly and respectfully worship God.

The World has been created with imperfections. Imperfections in nature and in our characters are the source of all that is evil in the World. We must not hate ourselves for our imperfections. We must not hate our parents for our imperfections. We must not hate God for our imperfections. We must not hate imperfections in other people. Once we accept ourselves, our parents, God, and other people as being perfect just they way they are in spite of all the imperfections we experience in our lives then the sooner we will be able to appreciate all that is good in the World. We must have faith everything is perfect exactly the way it is otherwise we will be blind to all that is good and see nothing but the bad. The way to experiencing joy is by not ignoring misery.

The world does have imperfections seen in Psalm 106 about the unfaithfulness of man
and yet man is invited to join in songs of joy for something better that's possible in the gospel.

The Prajapita Brahmakumaris state that all of humanity are the children of one God and hence ought to live as brethren in love and peace. This includes all nations, and national boundaries are obviously man-made and superficial.

The Prajapita Brahmakumaris are a monotheist Dharmic sect which worship God Shiva as an incorporeal point of light, and consider Him to be the same as Allah, Ahura Mazda, Jehovah in other religions.

95% of whose population? o_O It doesn't take a mental giant to figure out that claiming to be a "Christian" doesn't make you one....and that listening to God is something most people do not do. If all Christians followed the teachings of Christ, the world would actually be a decent place to live.

It has come to my attention that Americans have a very limited view of the world outside of their own nation...for many of them, America IS the world. :( It is in a sad and sorry state just like all the other nations who are in turmoil around the world. How many people are taking to the streets in protest about their government's handling of just about everything. The natives are more restless than they have ever been.

"THEY" are the people we meet and talk to every day about world conditions and where they think we might be heading? Once they didn't believe that the world could end....they don't think that any more....and it looks likely that it may be by our own hand.

Or are you suggesting a paltry 5 percent of non-god humans have been able to get us into this mess by themselves? If so, how so? And how did the 95 percent allow that to happen?

The 95% aided and abetted the rest. Like I said, calling yourself a Christian doesn't make you one.....you need to imitate Christ. Those who fail to do that are not Christians.....simple.

Huh? Whose god?
Jehovah’s Word says, “don’t kill.” (Matthew 5:44)
Jehovah’s Word says, “avoid sexual immorality.” (Colossians 3:5-6)
Jehovah says, “be humble and put other’s interest ahead of yours; be forgiving.” (Philippians 2:2-4; Colossians 3:12-14)

You think people have ‘listened’?!

Sorry, this says nothing about the issues or reasons nor solutions. It's just you reiterating a limited view of the responses to the problems. No reasonable or acurate explanation of reasons or solutions.

If you want to focus on this issue it's fine with me. What do you suggest?

Yadda, yadda. Who doesn't do that? Except those in power. That means the power needs to shift. It won't happen unless you and everyone else actually does something to change it.

Driving around in your cars and talking to who ever will listen to your God beliefs does nothing to help the process or solve the actual problems.

I don't need to suggest anything except that people might read the Bible or better still study what it says and actually take notice of its warnings and prophesies.

The Bible tells us why we are here....where were are going....and how we end up in one of two clearly defined destinations......this is not a "heaven or hell" scenario...but simply one of "life or death"...it is all that was ever offered to us. When we choose the road...we choose the destination. (Matthew 7:13-14)

Who doesn't do that? Except those in power. That means the power needs to shift. It won't happen unless you and everyone else actually does something to change it.

No, actually it doesn't depend on us at all.....humans will have nothing to do with the final outcome....God is in control of that. What we do have control over is our own thinking and actions. When we find out what is motivating our decisions, we can address them.....most people prefer to live in ignorance lest it requires something of them. The shift in power is coming but it will not come from man.

Driving around in your cars and talking to who ever will listen to your God beliefs does nothing to help the process or solve the actual problems.

It solves the problems of everyone who listens...one person at a time. I know the impact of learning what the Bible teaches had on my life...and if you ask any JW about their hope for the future, it is bright and we live in expectation every day of seeing a new government introduced that is incorruptible, and which will fulfill every promise it makes. We gain confidence as we see world rulership falling apart as it must. (Daniel 2:44)

Not a single vestige of the former things will be left. (Revelation 21:2-4) God has plans for planet Earth that don't include those who cannot or will not be told.

An end to wickedness is an end of all who practice it. "Just like the days of Noah". (Matthew 24:37-39) How many "people" survived? What was the criteria?

We just need to understand what wickedness is from God's perspective. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11; 2 Peter 2:20-22)

There is no place for those who cannot or will not be told.

I did ask what you do or plan on doing to help with the problems. You answered. Nothing except looking forward to death. Interesting way to view life. And it seems a great way to avoid feeling any responsibility or need to do anything to try help the real world you actually live in. Never feel bad or worry about all the suffering in the world because (you) know it's all God's plan and not your problem. Especially for anyone who doesn't become a JW. Just wait it out and repeat the same 3,000 year old mantra No wonder the JWs are happy, drifting through life in a crystal bubble land.

I do sometimes wish I could return to that type of thinking. It's so incredibly easy on the conscious. And no feeling of being worried about what my grandchildren will face, or how the planet is dying, or trying to help take action where I can because whatever it is that goes wrong, it's what God wanted. Yee-haw.

Are you for real? o_O Do you have a comprehension problem perhaps? Where did I say that we do nothing but look forward to death? How absurd! We are actively doing what Christ commanded all of his disciples to do....preach the good news of the Kingdom, before God brings an "end" to this corrupt system operating on this earth. (Matthew 24:14; Matthew 26:19-20)

What is this bubble land you speak of? And the rest of your post makes no sense at all.....there is nothing that any human can do to fix the world's problems......but we can give people sure hope for the future, and faith in God to fulfill his promises.

Please tell me what you are personally doing to alleviate the suffering in the world.....it must be hard all by yourself.

If you think humans are going to solve the major problems that they themselves created? Don't hold your breath....

Sure, okay. You preach non-sense fairy tales that you believe in. Great help. I do all sorts of things every day to attempt to makes things better for others and the planet. Right beside whole lot of other people who actually take action instead of talking about it.

Yes, you all have quite the reputation in Australia too. You all came out of the blue and are shocking the life long scientific and socially active communties. Along with the other Christian fundamentals who are making a splash. Don't worry, your known world wide.

No one is going to save the planet. It's way too late for that. The smart ones will adapt to the changes and challenges. The others will talk about it until they perish.

Tell me about your successes.....and then fit them into the big picture and tell me how much they actually count for any positive change. The powers working against you are winning. They are too big and too rich to care about the future. They are too busy making money to consider anything but their bottom line. Can you deny that?

Yes, you all have quite the reputation in Australia too. You all came out of the blue and are shocking the life long scientific and socially active communties. Along with the other Christian fundamentals who are making a splash. Don't worry, your known world wide.

What is with these cryptic statements? I have no idea what you mean....??? Please be specific. If you have something to say, come out and say it....but please have something more than your own bias to substantiate it.

No one is going to save the planet. It's way too late for that. The smart ones will adapt to the changes and challenges. The others will talk about it until they perish.

That is pretty much what the Bible indicates......the people responsible for ruining the earth, will be called to account by its rightful Landlord. (Revelation 11:18) The tenants have been put on notice that an eviction is inevitable because they have no respect for the planet or for each other. If you were God, what would you do to show humans that going against his tenancy rules and disrespecting his property will have consequences? He has warned us and told us how to avoid eviction, and how to be chosen for renewed tenancy, once he has cleaned up the mess.

I have my name on that list....what about you?
