Your Take on 2020 GOP Primary?

What is your take on the 2020 GOP Primary, especially the GOP members that are opposing Trump? I think there's four candidates, Weild, Da La Fuente, Sandford and Walsh. With the GOP in some states canceling primaries (Iowa, South Carolina), it sets the stage for an uncontested Trump Victory in my opinion, but what do you think about the candidates themselves?

No offense but it's irrelevant. Elections are controlled by certain groups that most of the public don't even realize exist. If voting really mattered then they wouldn't let us do it.

I have a friend who really likes Bill Weld and in fact knows him personally.

None of them have a chance, of course, unless lightening strikes and Trump and Pence are both gone. The odds are very very small but sometimes the almost impossible does happen.

Politicians change policy stays.

The primary season, for most, is an opportunity to fund raise, and then use that money as a slush fund, so they can live a five star life style as they travel the country. Afterwards, they get the title. "former presidential candidate", and can use that resume booster to get jobs working in the media as an analyst. CNN, for example, will hire anyone who is negative on Trump.

Trump was different in the 2016 primaries, in that he used his own money in the primaries. He already had a five star life style and a good job as CEO of an business empire. He was going for the job of president. This was a life goal, having prepared for that moment in time for over twenty years. He was ready to rumble. This caught the vain and self serving, off guard.

If you remember in the 2016 primary season, Trump was initially treated with kid gloves by the other candidates, becauseTrump was part of the donor class. All the rest of the candidates wanted to keep that fund raiser option open, since nobody expected Trump to go very far. This easy start allowed Trump to get his feet wet, and then he get some traction. After that nobody could stop his momentum, since he was a man on a mission with the eye of the Tiger.

I agree, Weld is a good man for the job. As former governor of Massachusetts he was progressive, intelligent, knows and respects the Laws that govern etc. if not he would not have been elected to two terms in a heavily democratic state with a democratic legislature.

Wait.

Mitt Romney was also Gov. of Massachusetts, a Republican in a heavily Democratic state, and had those other qualities, as well. Didn't do him any good.....

In my opinion, anything that can be construed as life support administered to the GOP is complicity.

Positioning for victimhood is so unattractive

The GOP could redeem itself in my eyes by restoring the vote ballots to write-in only. No more of this "Vote republican or democrat" right on my ballot. Its insipid.

Because as a candidate for president he had a 'Republican' agenda. As governor he was quite liberal, responsible for co-authoring with Ted Kennedy, US senator from Massachusetts, the model for health insurance that would become the ACA nationally.
