Saying these things were written when there WERE tribes smacks of
wanting to "explain away" Jacob - except that Jacob hinted of a time
when there would be no more Israel. Like other writers did.

Forget the Hyksos for now.. they'll just confuse everything.

Gen. 48-50

”- Jacob pronounces the blessing upon Judah, and his blessing supersedes even that of Joseph, for he says that his ‘father’s sons shall bow down to you,’ and then he goes on to say that ‘the scepter shall not depart from Judah until Shiloh comes’ 9.1.
