Judge sides against Trump his tax returns

Shad

Judge decided Trump has to turn in his tax returns. I did not read this whole article but I will now. But Id like to think after Dems get his taxes if he has broken the law with taxes it could turn some Republicans mind to impeach. Here it is.

Donald Trump loses appeal to stop House subpoena of his tax documents - CNNPolitics

It will be appealed. No lower court ruling is going to stand in such a case without at least review. It is a general tactic to tie up cases in the courts.

Doesn't matter it'll take awhile longer. He has one last appeal the Supreme Court. However the article says with every court turning him down this many times, he will probably lose. I just hope it happens before 2020 election.

The headline here was wrong. The decision was from the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. And, of course it will be appealed again.

That and the fact there is no guarantee the SC will hear the appeal. The Court accepts less than 5% of cases tossed to them. Should they decline to take it, that's the end of the line for Trump's stalling and obfuscating. At least, on this particular bit of corruption.

But surely he is an honest man; he has nothing to hide because he is honest.
Why doesn't he just release them like other presidents have?
Why appeal if he has nothing to hide?

Even if lost in SCOTUS that doesn't mean he is guilty of anything. Congress can not release the records to the public. The IRS would have gone after Trump already if his records contain anything illegal.

Innocent until proven guilty. Heard of it? You stole 10k from me. Now give me the keys to your house, access to everything you own and all your records to prove you're innocent. Yawn classic authoritarian thinking

Why doesn't he just release them like other presidents have?

As Dems will use to to intimidate his business partners.

Why appeal if he has nothing to hide?

As there is no reason to turn them over as the IRS has no gone after him. You know... the agency that handles this.

He promised during the campaign to release them. He hesitated because one year was being audited.
That was 4-years ago.

Sorry, he has something to hide or he'd have published them.

Assertion, authoritarian and illogical. Try again.

Proof by assertion.
Innocent then proven guilty

It is nothing of the sort.

He can clear this up, prove that it is indeed Fake News; see off the Dems, win the next election.
Just release the honest, true tax returns.

What is the problem?

Yes it is. You are demanding someone prove their innocents instead of proving their guilt. That is a trademark of being an authoritarian.

Except it will give everyone access to who he does business this. All will be attacked by Cancel Culture.

So, if there has been a murder the police are wrong to ask to see the body, or the gun?

I don't understand that??

That's kinda what I was thinking. This court ruling is akin to the police convincing a judge to issue a search warrant. What becomes of the subsequent "search" remains to be seen.

What do you suppose Trump is trying to hide?
Must be something important, eh?
Tom
What makes you think he is trying to hide anything ? If there was something fishy, or illegal, the IRS would have dealt with it before now.

There is no law that says candidates should release their tax information, though there should be.

Because the dems have not yet come up with an impeachable offense, they have been trying to since the inauguration, Why should he help them ? It is just one fishing expedition after another, they remind me of the gang that couldn´t shoot straight, jerry boom boom nadler, adam the lemur schiff, and nancy the boss pelosi haven´t been able to pull it off yet, year after year after year.

They legislate with the same skill.

That is probably cause which the IRS can bring up itself as it, not Congress, is the primary government agency that investigates. There is no referral from the IRS. Your speculation isn't probable cause.

I don't understand that??

Tax returns include business interaction information including names of people and businesses. Dems have no issues going after people assoicated with Trump as per Maxine Water call to harassment.

Whereas the PoTUS is full of them

Never said he had any.

Whether his tax returns will ever be made available to the public is yet to be determined, but I have confidence that the courts will continue to rule against Trump because of the fact that the AG does not have jurisdiction over the Southern District of NY, and also for the oversight provision of Congress according to Article 1.

BTW, remember when Trump repeatedly stated that he would release his returns prior to the election? Trump supporters, how did that turn out? And then he lied about not being able to do it because he was being audited, whereas the IRS said that auditing does not stop returns from being released.

How long will the Trump supporters continued to be "played" by Trump before they realize who this guy really is and that he's really not for them?

It's a guess but
I think it's because wealthy people tend to pay little or no taxes.
