Christians demanding hugs from strangers

Salvador

RF's Swedenborgian
i was at the hospital yesterday for my wound care. a lady and her husband older, were walking around handing out flyers for their church and inviting people to church the Rodeo church, they had a stack said they going to put them on doors.

When she handed me the stupid flyer I accepted it and said thank you and allowed her mumble into me about her stupid church. I was nice the whole time. I am use to zealous conservative Christian pulling this crap in the bible belt Mesquite tx.

SO after I just thought great now I can get her out of my hair and smiled politly.

Smile and nod.

After that if that wasn't enough OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!OMG!The woman actually walked up to me grabbed my shoulders and forced me to hug her I could not get out of it.

I called the hospital today and go the number of the security. I am telling you they better not pull that with me again. i had night terrors about it last night. OMG! Next time it happens ill go in a corner and call security that can not happen again.

Why do Christians do stuff like this?

Many hospitals are affiliated with a particular Christian denomination. There are hospitals run by Christian organizations like Baptist Hospitals, Catholic Hospitals, Episcopalian Hospitals Lutheran Hospitals,Methodist Hospitals Presbyterian Hospitals, or Seventh-Day Adventist Hospitals.

There is a thin line that separates the definition of hands around the neck as a hug or strangulation...at least in my experience...

Seems like the hugging could be a bit of overfamiliarity. I think if they spent time with you hearing your story, sympathizing with you I would feel a little different but it's a case where you should have an idea that something is welcome before you do it.

My dislike of hugging has no story! I am not in need of sympathy, understanding, or a new kitten...please keep your hands to yourself unless I invite you to enter my space. If this is hard for you to grasp, then go get a hug.

Of course not but I thoguht yall would like to be informed of handling talking to strangers differently and maybe consider oh uh being a witness by your actions like Jesus did.My Roman Catholic friend Rose never forces Jesus down my throat.

I thought you might want to know why churches aren't getting in many new poeple these days but hey if your satified happy with putting your older women in danger by having them touch and hugs on strangers in the public go right ahead.

I only know maybe or 16 people in my SAA recovery group would have responded by doing something physical and illegal in the public. So I say this not just to complain about the hug also in concern for you older women. Its not safe but its your decision.

Anyone "in recovery" for anything, who responds to an acquaintance's hug with physical violence, is not yet recovered! What is wrong with this world!

You don't think a hug is physically directed at someone you assume wishs for said affection?

Well yes absolutley! I spent 9 years of my life with severely emotionalistic tongue talking crazy Pentecostal s who not only thought they were the only ones going to geaven.

They ut their hands all over me layed hands one each other all the time had hours of praise worship and alte calls healing the sick and constantly inappropriatly emotionally hugging me all over the place and sometimes touching in inappropriate ways,

So when she got all emotional with me hugged me all over yea it brought back memories and I freaked out but not in front of her,

Many people have issues with hugs and other issues with church and not all of us will even be safe to hug.I am about to go back into counseling for that next month.

Thats a great reason not to go around in public places and trying to hug strangers.

You need to avoid giving those people any opening even if you have to be rude. Refuse the flier, decline an invitation to talk. If they can not accept that then get rude. I say opening as many Christians use fliers and talks in order to proselytize to a person directly. Most will accept you declining without issue at least in my experience. Although up here there are not a lot of laying of hands, talking in tongues types bothering people. Seems like an American thing.

Again she completely invaded your space.

Why would a perfect stranger want to be affectionate with me? that sounds perverted.

Assuming that you would welcome an unsolicited act of physical affection from any other person is totally disrespectful to you as a person. If I effect you to the point that you can't live without touching me, then ask first...that's all I'm sayin'.

Asking somehow first would be wise

Just one guy
I find the halfway side hug to be non-committal and ackward. Either you're all in on the hug or let's just shake hands. :)

Who's Jesus and how do you know he loves me?Its smug to think everyone knows about your religion and accept the Jesus story.

You don't know who Jesus Christ is?

You haven't heard Jesus Christ loves all people?

I thought you've been at RF for a long time. Haven't you assaulted me multiple times for my Christian faith in the past, yet you don't know "who Jesus is"?

No one knows who Jesus actually was. I reckon the Jesus of reality and the Jesus character of the gospels story were very different.

I have not ever assaulted you. Your imagining things. That was a Jesus reference bringing out the fact that Christians throw the Jesus loves you statement around expecting the whole world to know all about Christianity. Its arrogant.

Please provide your proof here for that statement, (no one knows--not even the dozen people who wrote of Him in the NT, without which He'd be unknown) and (He's different than the biographers who wrote the gospels), and I will then change my mind.

Please add any facts you have here so I know this is not just a subjective opinion you've offered.

I'm aware that you know who Jesus Christ is, and I was aware of that fact before I told you, as I tell you know, IMHO, Jesus loves you. SO MUCH.

How can a long dead person love anyone born well after they died? If the guy had resurrected he would have stayed down here on earth, instead of so conveniently disappearing up to heaven.
