I've made my decision about church.Im not physically fit enough to go to my Zen meditation.

The Unity church and the Quakers is what I was going to consider joining.

But a part of me just thinks that maybe I was thinks ng of going there because a little bit Christian Christian and Universal
And my sisters might be more accepting of it two of them anyways.

But First Unitarian Universalist of Dallas has over a thousand people there.Theyve got classes singles activities.

I know who the pastor is because I use to go to a Pagan UU church and I've met a few folks from UU.I like the message it's always a message all religions and atheists Agnostics can relate to.

I don"t see myself staying sober from my addictions if I don't I'm too lonely. But being at home in a UU church I'm not.Ive already started talking to UU folks again Facebook.Im already less lonely

A part of me too thinks I was holding onto my Pentecostal past to a degree hoping for a high a religious high like I use to get.

Anyways I want to open this for criticism of and thoughts on the UU church.Any UU history would be appreciated

UU believe that there is truth and good in all forms of religion and spirituality. It's a pretty accepting group if that's what you're after.

My experiences with UU have been positive, and I would suspect that such a large church would have well established connections with an appropriate addiction support group. I sincerely hope that you look for and find what you need.

I don’t have any experience with any UU church, but I like the idea of you participating in some of their activities.

Actually I have been close to Unitarian Universalism since my teen years, and find it the choice for Humanists of various ilks. The also have many pagans and other variable beliefs active in the congregations.

I have been close to Buddhism as well since my teen years and involved with Arts of the Way (Martial Arts in the West). Buddhism is less organized approach offers different meditations in what Buddha described as: Walking Sitting, Lying and Seated meditations. I taught these variations in my Arts called Shunyata Do.

Criticism: Your search appears to be more in search of a 'Sense of Community, and a Sense of Belonging.' In the UU there is more diversity than Christian Churches or Zen Buddhism.

In my ultimate search I consider these way stations on the journey. Ultimated the shoes that fit are not the shoes that take the path not followed for comfort.

I am presently a Baha'i and the shoes are not comfortable.

I've though about Baha'i.Although there are many Faith's we all say the same saying at the end of our service our truth and open up same rituals..We all have the opportunity to do the same types of volunteer service at the church or join and take the same classes.

They have a history of UU class and a class on evolution and prehistoric which you know I'll will go to.They have movie night game night etc.

Tons of singles.Heres something many or most churches don't have.

Gay men and Polyamory men willing to be in a platonic friendship with an addict like me.

I spent time with one man and we talked for two hours at my other church he was from first UU
So oddly enough while UU is know for bring accepting of those in different lifestyle like Polyamory and BDSM: there's also room for those look for intimate platonic friendships and Asexuals as well.

I really can't say anything negative about them. They used to be more biblical but since they joined Unitarianism with Universalism, it may have separated some from the Bible. I think it's great to be sitting with people of different faiths, singing together, eating together, and they all get along, for the most part. Pretty unique.
