To overthrow oppressors and repel the evil people.
To govern by the truth, justice, and wisdom.
To provide proofs and insight to guidance.
To connect you to God.

It goes the other way as well. Look at the fight in the US where conservatives are trying to codify the rules about abortion based on their religious belief.

Yes, it is a back and forth, with religions more or less
keeping pace with society.

Obviously my point is the same whichever way you look at,
using "god" to enforce.

When is any of that going to happen?

Keeping it to just 4, I think religion sets out to accomplish/provide/be mainly the following:
  1. Community - bring people together toward common goals, by establishing a superficial/fictional like-mindset
  2. Morality/control - establish some form of moral basis in order to keep people operating within a (more or less) fixed set of behaviors
  3. Alleviation of fear - offering explanations where people (plausibly) have none, and the big one - offering up the promise of an "afterlife" experience
  4. Self-sustaining - keeping the infrastructure in place by gathering funds, making people believe that the religion's "services" are necessary, making people believe they must adhere in order to "progress"

Don't know, perhaps, for most of the world never, looks like they too busy having fun while their leaders moving against believers, looks like they heading to same destruction Noah's people faced.

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
Religion exists because there is a need and demand for spiritual/heart guidance, community unification, higher purpose that all can share in, and a place for refuge.

Once people realize this then we can start building institutions to replace all the current religions of the world.

I don't know about this. I'm pretty sure most modern societies have realized that governance and religion do not mix well.

The ones that haven't are the ones that most of the rest of us end up chastising, sanctioning for human rights violations, try to ameliorate the conditions of wars being fought there, or have to tip-toe around because they are so volatile and don't "play nice" with others. Theocracy makes for a weak, insecure and sensitive type of government, ill-equipped to deal with other global players that will, necessarily, always exist.

In the balance there is far less of authority against religion than for.

As for the destruction of people around Noah,
t hat would need some clarification. What do you mean?

In your view, what are the top four functions of religion in general?

That's going to vary by religion- they don’t all have the same values or goals.

For Christianity, perhaps something like this:

1. Reconcile us to God (via Christ)

2. Teach us God’s Will (including morality): Love.

3. To help those in need, to defend the weak and innocent, and to uphold justice without favoritism. We have a duty to stand up to the evils of society, like the Reverend Martin Luther King.

4. To refine ourselves, to reflect on our actions, to overcome our weaknesses, and ultimately make us strong in character, virtue, and wisdom.

When people oppress believers and spread their oppression far and wide, exactly as the shadow cabal jinn worshippers in US are doing, and no one stops them, then God delivers the believers, those who take side of God's savior and leader, and command to good and forbid evil, and the rest are destroyed.

Everyone Is aware US created ISIS, you got to be real stupid or purposely blind to not know this. And yet no one cares that powers are doing this to people around the world and creating chaos.

The only people who can save the world now, is really us Shiites. We literally have to defeat you in victories after victories, and be patient, so that the world knows the truth till the leader comes about and brings about the final victory. Or, we lose, not enough Shiites support one another, lack of effort, etc, or whatever reason we fail, and we are oppressed, at that moment and oppression reaches a peak, we call upon God he will respond and save us.

I hope we seriously rally together and defeat Israel and US plans in the region and manifest the truth, till, the people and oppressed are freed.

I mean literally, because we Shiites lack resolve, but Mashallah at the defeat of Saudia Arabia recently, and victory to houthis, which gives me hope, but because we lack resolve.... we might not be able to save the world.

So gladly keep talking ideals while we repel and keep the balance against of the corrupt leaders and hidden societies that have plagued the world for so long till the Mahdi comes to properly send them to hell and wipe them off the face of the earth.

A true religion should have a true God, and it is for that true God to decide on the functions of his religion not for us poor humans!

What objective test will tell us which, if any, of the parties involved are the good guys?

Top one, is to keep folks distracted until they die.
After that maybe to socialize.
Give marching orders to a large group to further a political agenda.
Then to perform marriage and death ceremonies.

You guys have got it wrong -- all wrong, all of you. It is obvious that there is one and only one major function of religion. The OP asking for four functions was a trick question, you see.

Here is the sole, single, true and real function of religion...

To justify wearing funny hats.

I thought about whether or not it was a trick question that you asked for four functions...
but then it seemed that four was as good a number as any and so the trick was on you.
