So Who Are The Adults Pulling The Strings of the Child Climate Change Protests?

Soooo.....what is the average temperature of the world at the moment?
This.... ^^^ the kind of question from a person in denial, ignoring what our specialists are calling out loud?

Have you not heard that the great glaciers are retreating at a speed that frightens the climate researchers? The list of evidences seems quite long, you know...? ..... did you know?

It's sad that some countries will keep on as before, probably because it suits their pockets, but they all seem to be thick about the situation....

Do wind turbines cost more (and therefore use more fossil fuel to build and decommission) than they will ever save or generate?

Those generators look like one that was erected in Kent about forty years ago at Richborough, Kent, UK. It was a prototype and small compared with the giants that are now working in their hundreds just offshore from here.

I guess that there are bound to skeptics denying what the climate researchers are finding. I mean, there are still creationists and a few flat-earthers out there, so why not dirty-world-denialists? I just hope that the bulk of mankind will see the light, cleaner air, and a chance to slow down the accelerating changes.

What is their life expectancy and decommissioning costs?

You would need to Google London Array to discover manufacturer and then research for costs.

I don't think they will need decommissioning at all. The temporary forts sticking out of the Red, Knock John and Shivering Sands just stand where they were left after WWII, what decommissioning did you anticipate?

I think most serious non-scientist followers of climate science read the abstracts or media coverage of climate science papers and the respective scientific critiques and reactions, since Greta has not to my knowledge had any climate science papers published, who would be interested in her opinions?

Not really her opinions though is it - it's more her value in galvanising people into acting upon what they tend to believe (and hence political pressure) - that climate change is a very real danger for humanity unless we seriously target the issue.

I could never have spoken in public to an audience at 16 let alone do so with some of the issues she has.

They are unsightly when they are functioning never mind cluttering the place up when they are not.

She has a right to her opinions and a right to express them much like you and I do. But she also is an organizer and a spokesperson who is quite clear that this younger generation is likely to be more negatively affected by climate change than our generation.

What started her off on this venture I don't know, but it's nice to see young people get involved in that which will ultimately affect them and others one way or another.

Stop politicising science.
The only ones I see doing that are some on the right who insist that the overwhelming consensus of climate scientists must be ignorant and/or dishonest.

The "verdict" has been in for two decades now, so now the only serious question is do we as a world body have the intelligence and determination to try and reverse this process, and this must be a worldwide endeavor and not just one done by a few countries. The U.S., Canada, and western Europe has made great strides along this line, so hopefully we'll keep that ball rolling and encourage and help the other countries do this as well.

I'm not going to assume malice on your part. But you're ACTUAL WORDS were:

Which seems different than "had an influence".

Yes. Now go look up what the word means and try again.

But I'm not interested in this little diversion anymore, so if you want the last word, you can have it.

I refuted your point. Now you are running away

Huh....I figured one point of agreement is that at the very least, Greta's speech and activism has increased attention to the issue and has people talking. But if you disagree with what seems to be obvious reality, okay then.

Talk is cheap

That's just bizarre. Apparently you believe organizations should just issue reports and nothing more. No PR people, no spokespeople, no press releases, no media interviews.....just repeat "we've issued a report" no matter what.

Wrong. My point is experts have reported to the UN for decades and a lot of nations do not listen. Why is a child ranting suddenly going to change that?

Interview experts. Have PR that can get the report right.

I am speaking for my own nation, and that's great that Canada is setting those goals.

Canada only has about 4 coal plants left while India just opened 10 out of a projected 370 it wants to construct and use. She is talking to the wrong nation-states.

Perhaps not, but if that 16 year old increases awareness and fires up the public who then put pressure on those politicians and vote accordingly, they'll listen.

No all she did was give people an excuse to take the day off to protest then they will go back to the status quo.

And that's the point...very, very few of the criticisms aimed at Greta have anything to do with what she actually said. Instead, it's mostly personal attacks, which IMO is extremely telling.

She babbled generalizations. There is another criticism. She couldn't get the data right. There is another.

Give the article/video is about retiring equipment the models are probably older design. Some designs are from the 70s.

No real answer? I thought so. Come back when you can substantiate these ridiculous claims.

Do you not see this as an undeniable case of do as I say but not as I do?

I wonder if Greta is one of Al’s supporters.

As do we who believe she's full of it...
