So i dare you to try grapefruit wrapped in bacon
Sounds interesting.
Or bacon dipped in melted chocolate
Been there & done that.
Of course you can try but honest enjoyment???
I've yet to meet a bacon concoction I've not enjoyed.
Don't who invented the mixed drink, The Canadian Bacon....
2/3 cheap whiskey
1/3 maple syrup
Crumbled bacon bits
Drink at room temp.

Ok. My close family is very important to me for reasons you won't understand even if i could put those reasons on a public forum.

We do plenty of partying (not much drinking) so wont go that way. Its hard to say but i think that if i lost the things dear to me i would probably sell up, buy that old tower up in the mountains and live as a reclusive cat lady. What would keep me going then would be nature. And maybe go insane.
Okay. That's good enough.
So if I had to interpret it, I would say, what keeps you going is something you can't explain. :D Let me give you a chance though.

Why would you say we are so connected to nature? For example... why can we feel so at peace when we immerse ourselves in the natural beauty that surrounds us... well as long as there are no hungry lions around, or cobra behind the log we sit on to gaze at a sunset?

In other words, why do you think we can encase ourselves in nature, and feel a sense of peace - even at the worst times in our life?
Stretch it it bit. Imagine that none of the animals attacked each other - including (according to scientists, human animals), and there were no viruses...
Why, do you think, do we have that sense of being at one with nature, so that we want to go on?

Please dont put words in my mouth, i clearly stated "My close family is very important to me for reasons you won't understand even if i could put those reasons on a public forum." So it is not "can't explain" but "won't explain on a public forum"

Nature in France includes reintroduced bear and wolf as well as sanglier (wild boar) and various poisonous snakes, brown recluse spider (violin spider), scorpion, asian hornet, (and more). No beautiful cakewalk to relax in.

And animals not attacking each other is not nature.

I did not say we are so connect to nature i said that is what i would most probably do in a worst scenario situation where solitude is the desired state.

I like that optimism.
What do you mean by, "knowing that there will be an end to the hard times after the work is done", if I may ask?
I guess it is from the ideal that no matter how tough it is,.......with hard work, and unflagging spirit (i.e. - never give up hope), you will be able to make it through. You will be able to make a good thing from all the badness that you are currently experiencing.

I agree. Hope is one of the things we should never let go of.
In fact, the Bible encourages these three things - faith, hope, and love, and says love is the greatest, because love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:8-13)

I am forced to develop my children and my family. We share a business with my husband. We started it from scratch. But as it turned out to be 24 hours together for us it is hard. My husband stayed to run the company. And I'm now studying new project management methodologies. New It Trends Make Me Think

Wow. Twenty four hours. I hope the children are grown up. That's quite a big sacrifice to make.

It always comes down to love of something, if even sometimes just myself. So love.

Do you know what keeps you going?

When you face extremely difficult challenges, physical, or emotional... for example... losing everything you had - whether material possessions, or family. Or just dealing with emotional stress day after day, or an illness...

Do you know... What is it that keeps you going?
For me it's what I learned in the military in the 80s. Focus.

"You continue on with the mission".

It also helps to stay realistic and accepting too as it helps in preventing one from going crazy over things whenever they happen.

If someone kicks over an anthill you don't see ants sitting on the side bawling their eyes out and seeking solace from one another. They just pick up the pieces and rebuild once again no matter how many times it happens.

Nature can be inspiring that way.

I figure if an ant can do it, so can I. =O)

If things are unattainable, there's nothing wrong with changing direction either.

Personal will. It's one of the few things that increases in volume the more you use it.

Do you think it's all your own?
I don't know. In my view, will is just there, and could be viewed as a force to tap into, and the origin of that force is likely from within, but could be perceived by some as being from outside. The source wouldn't really matter to me, but methodology of use would be. Folks who are able to accomplish far more that anyone would ever expect must be getting it from somewhere.

That's interesting. An inner will to tap into... Hmmm Just thinking aloud.
Where would that come from, and reside, and how do you suppose it works?
For example, what we tap into is learned, isn't it?
So where do you suppose a child for example, gets this will?
Do you think we are born with it, and it's a part of our neurons?
Just feeling out your thoughts. :)

I really liked @SalixIncendium answer. I might add that the connections I formed with others, family, my husband and my close friends give me so much strength that even if I lose those people (and I have lost some in the past), the mere memory of that time with them is enough to keep me going.

My view is that we're born with it, it's part of God, within the concept of God that is pervading all things. So it's like 'tapping into' a flowing river, and converting it to hydroelectricity. Everyone has will, but not everyone has the knowledge of tapping into it, using it, or increasing its power. There are psychological strategies for that, like learning how to concentrate, or exercising it.
