As a kid what did you think you'd be able to do as a grownup that you actually still suck at?

I'm not very good with 24 hour clocks.

I can't drive (I'm blind in my left eye though and I don't trust myself).

Reading maps.

Most things. I aimed at doing almost everything.

Hmm. Consider getting an American made car, so that you can sit on the left side when you drive.

Motorcycle or scooter, then. They are more dangerous if you crash, but they don't require the same field of view. You can also go slower on a scooter. Definitely thought driving on the left side would be a huge advantage for you as it would make your mirrors useful and provide a sure way to make sure you were in the lines.

Ouch! Well not the bullying part. 6'3" 250 kind of skirts that issue. Doesn't help with the age thing though.

Being a parent I suppose. I thought parents had all of the answers. So I'd know everything and be the perfect parent. Could solve any problem, any dilemma my kids were facing.

I got bigger, not necessarily smarter.

I once knew a bus driver who was completely blind in 1 eye (cant remember which, it was 40 years ago). The point is, he overcame the problem and learned to compensate to the extent he could take a visually demanding job where public safety is paramount.

Knowing what he did i see no reason why you can't learn to drive safely

Could surgery fix your blindness?

I was blind in my left eye for about 6 months. Driving kind of sucked, had to turn my head to one side so I could see the entirety of the road like a cyclops. Also distance was hard to judge. Just drove carefully and got used to it.

As a kid i thought I'd never grow up, i suppose to some extent i havent. But time had a way of proving be wrong.

So in my early teens i decided to be astronomer. That didnt work out and i am constantly amazed that people know the names of visible stars, galaxies and nebula, i dont. Some astronomer who doesn't know whats in the sky.

I watched an Argentine tango demonstration and fell in love with the dance, i wanted to do that wonderful, elegant sexy dance. Tried, took lessons. I was advised by the instructor to give up. Imagine the Argentine tango performed by a cross between a heron and a drunken robot.

No. It could fix the laziness but not the sight.

I am terrible in general at anything motor skills based. I still struggle riding a pedal bike.
Me too. I'm generally a clutz, I struggle with two wheels be it pedal or motor, I'm terribly scatter brained, but out of all the jobs I've had that involve driving I've accumulated well over 100,000 miles on the job, and tons more worth personal driving. I even have a hard time seeing the road at night under certain circumstances. But I'll be on the road tomorrow, day into night, driving people around town.
