Would you freely associate wth someone who you saw smear a child's name to score political points?

Would you publicly smear the name and reputation of a child in order to score political points -- assuming you had nothing more to go on with regard to your smears than your own personal suspicions?

Would you freely associate with someone who did?

Just trying to figure out where the public is regarding morality and immorality these days.

How old is this child? What I’m thinking is, if the child is quite young, such a tactic would come across as crass, and would no doubt backfire.

People are sacrificing their own integrity and even their humanity upon an altar to Trump. Quite creepy and sad.
I used to think that the religious right supported Trump in spite of what he was doing: if he managed to get a few conservative judges on the Supreme Court, that would be enough long-term benefit to satisfy them regardless of how much damage Trump did in the short term.

Now, though, seeing how much cheerleading goes on for Trump, I don't think my first impression was right. I think the damage he's doing is part of what they like about him.

Good point. In this case the child is hypothetical. I'm just curious what's acceptable and what's unacceptable these days.

You didn't include an "other" choice

Politicians and those who oppose them have been using children as props for decades, if calling the child a prop when they are is a smear then so be it.

Well it isn't, obviously.

A prop is something or someone used without necessarily being aware of being used, like the babies politicians famously kiss.

No doubt remembering the classic line still used to this day....

"It's for the children".

They should have have never publicly smeared these Taiwanese children.....

Did you see the much publicized moment when Greta saw president Trump? Some are well aware and probably have been coached.

Whereas nobody else, appearing in a public forum, is ever coached, I suppose.

And the media catching just that "right moment" and publishing it as a stand alone story? Pretty blatant in your face propaganda, they aren't even trying to hide it anymore.

She has Asberger's… Trump mocked her on twitter this morning.

Greta thunberg has asbergers syndrome

IF THIS IS TRUE:

Scholarly article on Aspergers:

"may be useful to reconsider the primary diagnosis. Patients with Asperger's syndrome, a rare pervasive developmental disorder, have characteristics such as eccentricities, emotional lability, anxiety, poor social functioning, repetitive behavior, and fixed habits that can mimic symptoms of other illnesses, including schizophrenia spectrum illness, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Their disorganizing anxiety in response to stress, which may be accompanied by increased oddness of speech, can easily be misinterpreted as psychosis. "

Treatment-Resistant Chronic Mental Illness: Is It Asperger's Syndrome? | Psychiatric Services

And this is the media sweetheart at the moment that is telling us what we are supposed to do? I find it unconscionable that some in the media would exploit her mental illness for their own propaganda purposes, it can't be good for her mental state and would probably aggravate the symptoms. This poor unfortunate girl needs professional help instead of being used as a pawn in some sick political smear game.

The media always try to get the best story and the best pics. All politicians and their publicity agents know this and try to provide eye-catching copy. This does not make it a conspiracy.

I have no doubt this girl has got some advisers to help her make the most of her moment in the limelight. If it were my own 16 yr old son, I know that is exactly what he would do.

You talk as if a 16yr old is still a baby and must be being manipulated by "adults". But my son is anything but a baby and has his own strong opinions. I expect this girl is the same. Except that, being "on the spectrum", she is probably less afraid of upsetting people than he is!
