The Netflix Binge Watch Suggestion Thread

I need a new show to binge watch. I most recently finished Breaking Bad. I watched the first episode of Better Call Saul (the Breaking Bad prequel), but I'm not convinced yet that I'm into it enough for a binge.

Other recent binges I've enjoyed:
  • Stranger Things
  • Lucifer
  • The Marvel Series
    • Jessica Jones
    • Daredevil
    • Luke Cage
    • The Punisher
    • Iron Fist
    • The Defenders
  • Gotham
Any suggestions on shows you think I might enjoy?

Also, feel free to post shows that you've binged that you think others may enjoy.

Madam Secretary. The first show of the first season is a little slow because it lays some groundwork and introduces characters....it ramps up after that.

I agree that Better Call Saul was difficult to watch after I had seen Breaking Bad. I never made it more than a few episodes into BCS.

As for what I watch, I tend to watch entirely too much Netflix.

My favorites, in no particular order:
Mindhunter
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Black Mirror
Dark
The Umbrella Academy
Black Spot
Russian Doll

Lightly seared on the reality grill.
Oh yeah: Deadwood and Rome. Both are HBO. If you havent seen them I would put them both towards the top of my list. They each only ran for 2 seasons so it's more like watching a really long movie. : D

Deadwood is excellent - it actually had three seasons, and now there's a movie to round it off.

Had no idea Marvel had so many series going, but nice to know they're coming out with some good ones now: their first few attempts in the 70s and 80s were pretty awful ( have to admit I watched the Hulk anyway though :D )

While we're talking about it: a cpl years ago I started watching a decent Marvel series about a mutant who could alter reality. Then I forgot about it and haven't been able to find it because I can't remember the name.

Anybody know what the series was called?
My favorite Marvel series on TV....actually, the only Marvel TV series
I like is Legion. It's strange, engaging, hard to follow, visually fascinating,
musically interesting, & with wonderfully played characters.

Other series to find & watch....
Deadwood, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Rubicon, Luck, Downton
Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, Fargo, Samurai Jack, Chernobyl,
The Marvelous Mrs Maisel, The Terror, American Gods,
Air Disasters, Archer, Better Call Saul, Billions, Odd Mom Out,
Twin Peaks (not the later reboot), Counterpart, Escape At
Dannemora, Homeland, Manhattan, McMafia, The Americans,
The Bletchley Circle, The X-Files, & of course....Game Of Thrones.

And for anyone familiar with those violent 1960s & 70s Saturday
sci fi morning cartoons, The Venture Brothers is fantastic.

Samurai gourmet is a nice change of style if you are looking for some diversity, and it's sure to take you heart :D

Story is about an old japanese policeman that doesn't know what to do on his first days of retirement from the job. So he goes to the local restaurant for a break and goes in an adorable adventure of rediscovering life and reflecting on it through the food he forgot about while his life was so busy.

Really adorable and interesting short serie !

Legion, yes that's the one I was trying to think of. Thanks Rev.

Did you see the alternate ending they filmed?

Hellenismos, BTW
If anyone is into the whole zombie apocalypse thing, Netflix has a few good series to watch. Two in particular:

Kingdom. Really well done with lots of intense action. Fast zombies in medieval feudal Korea plus political intrigue (a fight over the throne). I can't wait for more.

All Of Us Are Dead. Fast zombies destroy modern-day S. Korea. Just watch it. The teens in particular made great zombies.

There are a few more zombie offerings but these stand out for being a change of pace from the usual fare and for not being set in the US. Especially Kingdom, bonus points for being set in a vastly different century.

More binge-worthy Amazon offerings:

The Boys: demented superheroes. What superheroes would probably really be like if there were superheroes.

Suits: the goings on of a high powered law firm. Interesting characters and intelligent plotlines, although the human interaction is a little on the sickly-sweet side (especially for lawyers).

Monk: a neurotic, obsessive compulsive modern day Sherlock Holmes.

Ninja Scroll: feudal Asian fantasy (I don't usually like anime but I liked this).

Netflix: for grown-ups (not superhero fantasy or high school melodrama) by the criteria of good writing and good acting.

Bad Blood
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee (not scripted or acted)
The Kominsky Method
Atypical
Wanted
Mindhunter
Dark Matter
Better Call Saul
Peaky Blinders
Gilmore Girls
The Fosters
The L word
Orange is the New Black
Wentworth
Rake

I was coming in to mention Peaky Blinders. Finally got around to watching Season 6 now.

Ozark
Narcos
Black Sails
I enjoyed Snowpiercer, although I preferred the original movie

Stick with Better Call Saul. It’s great. Some even think it surpasses Breaking Bad (though I’m not one of them, I confess it’s a close call).

If you liked Breaking Bad, I’d put Peaky Blinders at the top of the list.

I liked Last Kingdom, especially early
It did get me reading the books, and wow they cut out tons and tons more of the book for the show. But the biggest change is Uhtred himself. I'm having a hard time keeping it in my head the book Uhtred looks like a massive, burly, intimidating Dane with blond hair who isn't so attractive that even his scars are attractive.

anna.

but mostly it's the same
Big Little Lies
Little Fires Everywhere
House of Cards
Homeland

I've enjoyed a lot of British shows:
Broadchurch (David Tennant, Olivia Coleman, that's how good it is)
Harlan Coben's The Stranger
Harlan Coben's Safe
The Fall (Gillian Anderson, Jamie Dornan)
More I'm not thinking of, a lot more..

Spain:
Money Heist (La Casa de Papel)

Australia:
Wanted

Norway:
Occupied

Finland:
Bordertown
