Besides, it is not Newton, Boyle, Kepler and Bacon where church doctrine causes a problem with stifling curiosity. They did not seem to have a problem with their churches telling them not to think, however, they did come up with some off-the-wall ideas that were guided by their particular religious views.

More recent examples of scientists that are devoutly religious, yet successfully scientific, are those that do not belong to churches with closed-minded, protectionist doctrines that are against education, evidence and reason.
Why are you moving the goalposts? You said believing “goddidit” stifles curiosity. You didn’t say religious doctrine stifles curiosity.

Now, I’d agree with that, to a point. It certainly can, as with Galileo Galilei and Copernicus.

But that is not what you said!

Oh, grief!

First, “goddidit stifles curiosity “; now, “No doubt their curiosity and...motivation...stemmed from their beliefs about God”!!

Goodness, make up your minds!
First of all, don't assume that everyone here besides you all hold to the same views and positions.

But more importantly, the point is more nuanced than you're making it. "God did it" as an inspiration to begin one's investigation of the universe does not stifle curiosity. However, "God did it" as an answer to scientific questions does indeed stifle curiosity.

I don't know if it's possible, but I suggest you try and step outside your black/white mode of thinking.

Why talking like Yoda you are, hmmm?

Cool assertion.

Why the unidirectional concern? Why the inventive labeling?
Your good pal has claimed such things as knowing all about science, then written things like how bacteria have immunity.
She has claimed to know all about science then - as of the last time I did a search - complained about how scientists use too much "jargon" 64 times.

Been hoodwinked you have, hmmm?
So...someone else is verifying that you belittle others, eh?

It seems to be a problem you have.

No, I believe he's pointing out that some people do things that essentially invite ridicule and scorn. Specific to his example, another Jehovah's Witness here claimed to know all about science while simultaneously making some laughably ignorant statements about science.

I can't remember if I've used this analogy with you before, but.....

It's like if I claimed to be an expert in the Bible, and then proceeded to talk about how when Jesus was aboard Moses's ark, he turned the flood waters to wine, which got Moses so drunk he smashed the original Ten Commandments.

Understand? It's kinda like the saying, "If you don't like being called stupid, stop saying stupid things."

Imagine Newton, Boyle, Kepler or Bacon as JW's. No one would have ever heard of them, except to tell them, "Thank you, Not interested in your version of religion" after them knocking on their doors.

LOL......That would be like saying that Jesus would have had the same response in the Jewish community....how many Jews by their failure to heed Jesus' teachings based on popular opinion, would have told Jesus and his disciples....."Thank you, Not interested in your version of religion after them knocking on their doors." (Matthew 10:11-14; John 15:18-21)
How many still do? That's the funny thing about running with the mob.....sometimes they are heading for a cliff. :D

How does one know that one is not indoctrinated, please?
Regards
We all are, to some degree. From childhood, we’re all molded by our environment....some for the good, some for the bad.

The Bible comments on this, encouraging us to make changes. Colossians 3:9-10..

If our indoctrination inclines us to hate others, then we should try to change. But if we’re inclined to love others, that is great!

We can still abhor bad practices, while showing concern for those doing them! IMO.

You aren't Jesus and neither is the rest of your crew.

Your religious doctrine is "Goddidit". That is the reason you are reject most or all of science. Your church denies natural causes. So, no goal post moving, but I see why you have to resort to that.

You can't possibly understand how ludicrous it is for a JW to criticize other people for running with a mob.

Someone created a small mob in 1878 and more and more people joined the mob, edging from cliff 1881 to cliff 1914 to cliffs 1918 and 1925. They still haven't stopped running. Why would any rational person say anything but: "Thank you, Not interested in your version of religion".

By honestly evaluating how much exposure to God/Religion he had by age eight.

If, by age eight, you were a confirmed Sunni or Shiite or Baptist or JW, you were indoctrinated.

If, by age eight, you had nothing more than a vague idea of the concept of a god, you were not indoctrinated.

Where are you?

And what is one's source of knowledge that everybody who exclusively by age eight has nothing more than a vague idea of the concept of a god is not indoctrinated, please?
And everybody who by age has a firm concept of of God is indoctrinated, please. Right, please?
Isn't it a biased approach against the truthful Religion from one who subscribes to Atheism, please?

Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all have hateful teachings in their scripture.
"opinion"

Isn't it a hateful speech against the believers of the truthful Religion, please?
Has one studied Quran:
  • from cover to cover
  • to form an unbiased judgment
  • based on one's own experience about such verses of Quran
  • and checked the verses with reference to the context of the same, please?
If not, is one interested to do it now*, please?
