Here is the premiere "Intelligent Design" scientific journal:

Archives

It is something to behold. Despite no-strings funding (i.e., no applying for competitive grants like every real scientist), their output for last year was - 4 papers.

FOUR.
For the entire year. And only one even comes close to actual 'research.'

Looking through all of the "volumes" of Bio-Complexity, a trend emerges - a non-scientific review, one model or theoretical paper on calculating SI or some such rot, and a couple anti-evolution screeds.

Such SCIENCE!
Pretty heady stuff they are putting out there. Right on the cutting edge of "ain't got much".

Water, water, everywhere
and not just to drink.
Some see it as so miraculous
it causes them not to think.

Covalent bonds hold two hydrogens
near to oxygen's side.
But are not so strong as the bonds
that hold doctrinal pride.

Now I do love poetry
and elegantly contrived verse.
But miraculous water comes not from magic
but the natural laws of the universe.

Goddidit stifles curiosity.

That POV stifled Newton, Boyle, Kepler, Bacon, etc.?
Don’t think so.

Your church doctrine stifles curiosity.

Lol! You should hear the conversations I have w/ my fellow Witnesses, sometimes! You’d think differently!

More faulty assumptions. You’ve been deluded, I’m afraid.
Interesting: you belittle my beliefs...which I’m quite sure you don’t fully know / understand...but if I even mention yours, you feel I’m attacking you. Maybe not attacking, but you didn’t like it.

Who knows. Maybe they would have gone even further than they did? You cannot say, since there is no evidence one way or the other.

Just so long as the elders and the handlers don't hear them.

No. I have seen what you other members pass off as scientific reasoning and evidence. The delusion does not lie with me. You guys drew first. Ask the pelican. Besides, my church does not demand that I pretend things that are not so.

Besides, it is not Newton, Boyle, Kepler and Bacon where church doctrine causes a problem with stifling curiosity. They did not seem to have a problem with their churches telling them not to think, however, they did come up with some off-the-wall ideas that were guided by their particular religious views.

More recent examples of scientists that are devoutly religious, yet successfully scientific, are those that do not belong to churches with closed-minded, protectionist doctrines that are against education, evidence and reason.

Does your Methodist church demand / require that you have faith in Jesus as your Savior?

Why? How is He your Savior? Where’s the evidence that He even existed?

No, there is evidence...much evidence...that a goddidit POV didn’t ‘stifle’ them.
There is evidence that they did not let a "godditit POV" interfere with their own intellect, while maintaining their religious views. That is my entire point. Those that let it, do not become a Newton, Boyle, Kepler, or Bacon.

The Methodist church does not support a doctrine that demands that I stop thinking and start pretending that facts do not exist.

They do not disparage higher education. The man that taught me science was a lay speaker in our church and had a PhD in zoology.

Actually, I do not belittle your beliefs, I challenge the claims you make that are based on your beliefs. You can believe whatever you want, any way you want. You choose not to keep that personal and demand that others believe as you do and for no other reason than that is what your church tells you to believe.

Your church has a reputation for discouraging education and denying science. It encourages its members to follow that doctrine under coercion as I see it. If you want to worship that way, fine, so be it. But do not try to tell others that what they know is wrong, when you cannot provide a valid reason or evidence to support your claims. For instance, length, width and height ratios described for the ark in the Bible are not evidence for a global flood. They are more likely evidence that some author had access to ship builders. However, those dimensions came to be in the Bible, they are only evidence that the ark had similar dimensions to a modern cargo ship. Modern cargo ships have those dimensions and are no more evidence for a global flood than the ark. A boat that has no evidence it ever existed.

Riiight! You keep telling yourself that! (That’s like the third time you’ve brought up the Ark’s ratios without any urging from me! I think it affects you more than you want it to.) And forget about what Jesus said at Matthew 24:37-39.

I stand corrected sister.
The non-believers need to correct themselves about other aspects of life. Science is a common tool ,for believers and non-believers alike, to know the physical and material aspect of life. I agree with one.
And dismiss the other due to religious indoctrination.

I didn't watch the video but wager it didn't do justice to the miracle that is water.

Consider for example it is composed of the element that powers the suns and the element that allows animal life on earth.

Water rules real life and destroys those who are careless but it begins with the power of life itself.
Tell her all about that bifurcated (or is it partially bifurcated now? LOL!) Wernicke's area... or was it "broccas" area?
