Contradiction: How much did David Pay?

SA Huguenot

David paid 50 shekels for the property.

2 Samuel 24:24
24 And the king said unto Araunah, Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.

David paid 600 shekels for the property.
1 Chronicles 21:25
25 So David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.

Answer:
There is a verbal distinction in these two verses. In 2 Samuel 24:24 it says “ David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver” but in 1 Chron 21:25 it says: “David gave to Ornan for the place six hundred shekels of gold by weight.”

Now why is this so important?
Well, David definitely did not walk around with 600 shekels of gold to pay the Jebusite King for the “area” where David would later build a place for the Ark to stand, and where the Temple will be built by Solomon, which at that time belonged to Ornan, However, it is probable for David to have carried 50 shekels of silver with him to pay Ornan in this instance, in a hurry, for the Oxen and threshing floor to give this sacrifice to God to stop the plague.
David obviously came back and paid Ornan the rest of the price for the whole of the “area”.
One should also take in consideration that 2 Samuel 24 was written long before Chronicles, and Chronicles would contain the final transaction costs. Just think how sad it would have been if over the history of 3000 years some scribe went and changed this “contradiction”. We would not have learned this important fact the atheists insisted to be an error!

Anyhow, even if the Atheist would call this splitting hairs, they will have to agree that there is a huge difference between, "threashing floor and oxen", and "the place". And ask yourself why the King of the Jebusites would sell the future temple grounds for a mere 50 sheckles of silver?
