Vengeance is Mine

and scripture holds vengeance belongs to the Lord

let's consider.....who is holding the sword

and scriptures holds.....From His mouth proceeds a double edged sword

and the disciples laid two swords on the Last Supper Table
though such conceal and carry was likely outlawed

seems to me....the angels are displayed with sword
have been for centuries

and will such things come your way?
have you considered your pending role in all of this swordplay?

oh......and let's not forget His mother …...Mary
this world killed Her Son
she might still be upset about that

Nowadays, the idea of a vengeful deity strikes me as remarkably primitive, juvenile, and irrational. While it may fulfill some people's need to believe in a form of ultimate justice or emotional satistaction from thinking of the suffering their enemies will supposedly end up in, it holds up neither in the face of logical inspection nor under a scientific lens--and it is morally dubious to boot because of how much it glorifies hatred and suffering.

Sounds kind of medieval.

I thought this was a necessary sacrifice.

I toss the notion under cause and effect

sure …..it's intellectual
(and I hope so)

sure ….it's emotional
(and I hope the knee jerking is not the norm)

but in the scheme of reaction.....
I do suspect....there will be reaction

and I believe the peace of heaven is guarded

picture this.....

you knock on the Door
They let you in

shortly after a brief discussion a decision is made
you may stay

but then They hand you a sword and tell you....
it's your turn to guard the Door

and your responsibility whatever gets past you

The next "Day of the Lord" is called VWD Day and it stands for Vengeance Wrath, and Destruction. All of the Messiah's enemies will be cut off by fire. Psalm 37:20, Psalm 97:3. "To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God..." Isaiah 61:2. 1984 was the "acceptable year of the Lord". This judgment will mainly affect the legal system in the city where the Messiah lives. The judges, magistrates, police, sheriffs, lawyers, clerks, and even including the 911 operators. Psalm 141:6. "When their judges are overthrown in stony places, they shall hear my words; for they are sweet". This judgment is for widespread corruption and a conspiracy to obstruct justice.

swords sever the living from the dead

I do not assume ….all of us will be allowed to walk among the angelic

Why not?

Want to keep them angel folks mostly to yourself?

Someone might want to let God know assault rifles are way more effective. Mow down all them sinners in a few seconds.

Battle Hymn of the Republic - Wikipedia

Are you a fan of Julia Ward Howe's "Battle Hymn of the Republic" using music from "John Brown's Body"? I'm just curious, again like the OP, what other sword does Christ wield, besides the two-edged sword that proceeds from his Mouth in Revelation? Might this, not that the prophetical vision is at all necessarily metaphor, but that God is in usage of a Metaphor with the Word of God? Revelation 19:15

for clarity.....the double edge sword
cuts to the left and right and
is severe in use

it matters not whether you stand to the left or right
if you stand in opposition...…….

in orthodox christianity, they say that we should forgive the wrongdoers. only God should punish them, if a punishment sees fit. the orthodox say exactly that, vengeance belong to god. but the orthodox point out that god may also be mercyful. it's the god who is the judge.

the same collection of believers also nod their heads to stories of angels

like those who came to Sodom and Gomorrah

the angels have been portrayed with sword in hand for centuries
ever since the garden of Eden
an angel is said to have a sword of flame and forbids entry

as for judgment......is it not required of all?

what if?.... you find yourself standing between a beloved
and an angel with sword in hand

The word angel, when it appears in the Dead Sea scrolls of the Essenes, means sacramental drug.

It cuts through BS like a sword.

i'd choose the beloved. the angel would use the sword on me and on my decision of choosing the beloved.

yeah...I have to agree

hopefully ...the self sacrifice would go well

if I fall that my loved one enters heaven
fine.....good

but there is more than one possible scenario......
have considered?

Yes, actually I have thought of it and I decided to follow my loved one even in hell.

kindred spirits we are

what would heaven be?.....without our loved ones

and I have considered....and posted
if I enter heaven and cannot find her
I will ask the lend of a sword and go looking

and she had better not be harmed
