Trump diverts funds from military

So I read today Trump is diverting 3.6 billion bucks away from military projects in order to build his stupid wall which he needs funds to build. The military and Democrats are furious.

Why should our military have to suffer like this? BTW what happened to all your comments that were wrong under my thread asking ng about why the wall isn't being built?

Apparently even though you all said we have the funds and it's now being built apparently you were wrong or Trump would not have to steal funds from our military. It's not being built or he'd quit looking for funds to build it.

When is he gonna quit trying to get funds for the stupid wall?

I can't wait for a Democratic President to divert money away from the military for positive purposes. "Sow the wind. Reap the whirlwind".

What military projects was it diverted from? Any boondoggles that the Dems have been complaining about forever?

Why wait til then?
Divert the funds now.
Wouldn't it be a shame if we had no money to start or continue useless wars?

God there's no pleasing the left these days.

Remember all those years Clinton wanted to shut down all those military bases?

The left suddenly become warhawks now?

I dislike the framing of the OP.
I dislike your attitude regarding disliking that people recount of things from their own perspective? You dislike how it's "framed?" Or do you dislike that she stated her opinion?

Yup. Ya know. Because the opinion of one person represents an broad and diverse group.
It ok if I look at Alex Jones and sum up everyone on the Right as being like him? There's just no getting through to those conspiracy theorist nutter Right these days. I mean, damn. The Right is so absurd it believes the government is turning frogs gay. The Right is absolutely bonkers.

I really don't like it. The military budget needs trimmed, but poking it with a tap for frivolous projects that have alternatives available for far less the cost but with significantly increased effectiveness in the desired goal. Trump is not only tapping the military budget, when it comes to immigration and national security he has a crap argument for building a wall. What source will the next tap lead to? An anti-Isreal Dem diverting military funds to support Palestine? It won't even have to be covertly done as Reagan and North did during the Iran-Contra Affair. Congress may be weakened to say no after something like this.

The article said the military needed the projects done in different countries and also at West point and it's puts them in a badly needed place needing for stuff they can't get.The Send are angry and so is the military. I have not read one word under this thread to convince me these funds are not needed by the military.

The military has so much wasted, unneeded, and useless spending that they'll be able to cut the orders of fighter jets that haven't seen service use in decades and make up for tons of the money on that alone.

Kangaroo Feathers

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...
All of this rather ignoring the point that trump promised repeatedly that "Mexico would pay for it", and there was never any chance that would happen.

I'm not opposed to curtailing unnecessary military spending, per se, but I think it's important we all remember what a liar and failure trump is, and how pathetic his supporters are for not having worked it out yet.

Congress hides military spending for it's wars outside a lot of the military budget bills by placing spending in foreign aid.

The border wall is claimed under national security. Palestine can not be claimed under the same idea unless Israel, Palestine or neighboring becomes an enemy outright or by ideology.

I know. But there are better alternatives available. We are a 21st century nation. We don't need to rely really that much on what was top of the line defense technology during the Bronze Age. With or without a wall, 1 drone will still allow one person to survey and monitor far more territory with greater effectiveness than a several people stationed on a wall. And the drones cost pennies compared to wall. When it comes to such defenses, we've come so since we had catapults, swords, and spears. Yet this diversion of money is to keep us anchored to a time when biological warfare meant flinging diseased bodies and corpses over the wall and into a city. The year is 2019 CE, not 2019 BCE. Our boarder could benefit from that acknowledgement.

A wall still works in the form of an obstacle. Drones can not cover every inch of the border.

And the drones cost pennies compared to wall.

Assertion while ignoring operation costs, maintenance, training, equipment, etc.

When it comes to such defenses, we've come so since we had catapults, swords, and spears.

Walls still work all over the place. Private land. Estates. Government property. Etc. You are assuming an absolute without reason only to knock it down.

Yet this diversion of money is to keep us anchored to a time when biological warfare meant flinging diseased bodies and corpses over the wall and into a city.

A wall isn't designed to stop that. Bad faith point

Yes. How horrible it would be to cut the defense budget in half, say, take 1/3 of the money to reduce the deficit, 1/3 to go to tax cuts and the final 1/3 to critically underfunded "social" programs.

I'd make the percentages different if it were only me, but I figured that people like tax cuts and some of us like deficit reduction so I thought this was a good starting point.
