In Buddhism the evil one is called Mara, in my understanding, Mara is not directly like the devil, but more of the evil in our self as human beings. it is the temptation of doing those things that are seen as immoral or evil deeds. and Mara also tries to make us keep our attachments to the human world so we can keep doing evil deeds.

@j1i What is the reason that made the devil or Satan forces working against humans from the beginning?

From the Christian perspective, satan was once a good angel, but he entertained bad thoughts of becoming a god and gaining worship for himself. The prophet Ezekiel indicated that he was once a beautiful creature who got carried away by his own magnificence.

He wrote...
“You were the model of perfection,
Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.
13 You were in Eʹden, the garden of God.
You were adorned with every precious stone
—Ruby, topaz, and jasper; chrysʹo·lite, onyx, and jade; sapphire, turquoise, and emerald;
And their settings and mountings were made of gold.
They were prepared on the day you were created.
14 I assigned you as the anointed covering cherub.
You were on the holy mountain of God, and you walked about among fiery stones.
15 You were faultless in your ways from the day you were created
Until unrighteousness was found in you.. . . .

Your heart became haughty because of your beauty.
You corrupted your wisdom because of your own glorious splendor."
(Ezekiel 28:12-17)

Angels are powerful creatures but until the creation of humans, the angel who became satan had no one of a lower station who could see him as a god. This is why he hijacked the human race....lying to the first humans and separating them from their Creator.

Because he wants to steal worshippers from the true God, he uses all manner of deception to attract them to his side. He also uses his fellow rebels, (other fallen angels that we call demons) to bring pressure to bear on those who show a strong faith in God. He wants to undermine faith and entice people into practices that God condemns. He wants to separate people from God in any way he can. Whatever worship does not go to the true God, goes to the devil by default.

He even tries to blame God for all our troubles so that people will hate him.

God sent Jesus into the world to teach God's truth and to offer his life on behalf of mankind. The devil tried to tempt him into disobedience too, but Jesus was strong and the devil failed. Jesus taught us how to be strong in faith by showing us how satan works and how to stand up to him.

James 4:7-8 says..."Therefore, subject yourselves to God; but oppose the Devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw close to God, and he will draw close to you...."

We can oppose the devil in many ways....just by following the teachings of Jesus.

That is how I understand the question.

To my knowledge, the Catholic tradition has no specific doctrine concerning the exact why of the angelic fall.

One speculation I have heard is that when God revealed his plan for the incarnation to the angels, Lucifer objected on the grounds that he felt it would be improper to be outranked by Christ and the Virgin Mary due to their human natures. That the two highest ranking beings in Heaven would be human was too much to swallow for Lucifer and the one third of the angelic host who sided with him.

So how do you understand the Ezekiel's verses quoted by @Deeje ?
It's about who ?
People really need to start reading the whole thing. This is how those verses begin,

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

"Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre: So said the Lord God: Because your heart is proud, and you said, 'I am a god, I have sat in a seat of God, in the heart of the seas,' but you are a man and not a god, yet you have made your heart like the heart of God.

I read it but I don't understand who is that prince of Tyre. (I haven't read all the Bible)

He was the Monarch of the Kingdom of Tyre. G-d was comparing his wealth etc. to the Garden of Eden and the Prince to a cherub, but the Prince has been dishonest in trade as He says in verse 18,

Because of the multitude of your iniquities, with the wrongdoing of your commerce, you profaned your sanctity, and I shall bring forth fire out of your midst-it will consume you, and I shall make you ashes on the ground before the eyes of all who see you.

Before this, in verses 5-7, this clearly is talking about a human whom G-d will destroy using armies from abroad,

With your great wisdom in your commerce did you increase your wealth, that your heart became haughty with your wealth?
Therefore, so said the Lord God: Because you made your heart like the heart of God,
Therefore, behold I am bringing foreigners, the strong of the nations, upon you, and they will draw their swords on the beauty of your wisdom and profane your brightness.

Thank you for your generous posts
This is kindness from you, my friend

Through your posts
Is it clear to us from the Jewish faith that the acts of evil are caused by man himself without demonic temptation or external incitement

God bless you my brother :hatchedchick:

Satan in Satanism came to emphasize the power of the individual and does not focus on what is best for the 'herd'. Non-theistic Satanic adherents see the character of Satan as an archetype of pride, carnality, liberty, enlightenment, undefiled wisdom, and of a cosmos which is perceived to be motivated by a dark evolutionary force of entropy that permeates all of nature and provides the drive for survival and propagation inherent in all living things.

The CCC has it that
391 Behind the disobedient choice of our first parents lurks a seductive voice, opposed to God, which makes them fall into death out of envy.266 Scripture and the Church's Tradition see in this being a fallen angel, called "Satan" or the "devil".267 The Church teaches that Satan was at first a good angel, made by God: "The devil and the other demons were indeed created naturally good by God, but they became evil by their own doing."268

392 Scripture speaks of a sin of these angels.269 This "fall" consists in the free choice of these created spirits, who radically and irrevocably rejected God and his reign. We find a reflection of that rebellion in the tempter's words to our first parents: "You will be like God."270 The devil "has sinned from the beginning"; he is "a liar and the father of lies"

Thank you for your generous participation
I understood your view

But do you think that Satanism existed at the beginning of existence or is it the result of spiritual oxidation after a long time of existence
