Pornography and the internet

Technological advances in our modern times has allowed us to reach great feats. This 'computer age' as some have called it, has given us an unprecedented amount of convenience: computer and mechanical systems are able to do things for us in the fraction of the time it would otherwise take us to do. However, one of the main disadvantages of technology, specifically the internet, is the prevalence of pornography. All of us have been exposed to various elements of 'pornea'. Whether that's in advertisements such as what I can see on the religiousforums adverts, advertising dating sites with scantily clad women, at least when I'm using a shared computer. In Google Chrome I got messages saying things like 'Russian girls want to date in your area' with depictions of again, very immodestly 'dressed' women. Even on Youtube - a supposedly family friendly video upload site - contains gravure and sometimes pornography appears on that site. Youtube, as do many other sites like Tumblr, Twitter and Instagram have dark sides to them.

Thankfully, as a religious person I've been able to excise myself from the internet and television with Yahshua's help. I no longer have a tv or a broadband connection and this, though quite extreme, has helped me to focus on spirituality and observe what Yahshua said in the Beatitudes, to cut off whatever is a source of stumbling (Matthew 5:29-30). I still download Netflix shows at the library and then watch them when I get home so I do have some form of entertainment.

I'm writing this thread because I don't know what's going on in your private homes, but Yahweh is an El who sees in secret (Matthew 6:4, 2 Kings 17:9), therefore it's the secret sins that are often the worst rightly so because part of the conscience is telling the perpetrator that they are indeed shameful hence 'secret'. I'm curious to know how other people avoid the constant bombardment of sex and sexualised footage and images on the internet. I feel for those who are spiritually weak and don't have Yahshua to call upon. Acts 4:12 tells us that this name is the only name in which there is salvation because Yahshua means Yahweh is salvation. That was the Messiah's hebrew name. I suspect that those who are spiritually weak are going to have a big problem using the internet as they are opportunities to sin in so many avenues and with the simple click of a button.

Pornography is sexual immorality which is spoken against in many passages of scriptures such as 1 Thessalonians 4:3 and Matthew 5:28. What are your thoughts on pornography? Do you think the government should ban it, help people to overcome it or just leave things how they are?
No doubt you are shocked - shocked! - at this state of affairs:

Unless your religion is trying to control you by telling you that sexual feelings and images are somehow wrong, sexual images on the Internet shouldn't be a problem. They are easy enough to avoid, if you find yourself offended.

I believe the online availability of pornography is harmful and degrading to men and women, children, and even animals, increases the demand for sex trafficked victims, it destroys real love, harms marriages, causes issues of impotence for men, changes brain chemistry and is addictive. I don't really think government control is the answer as much as finding ways to increase people's awareness of the detrimental impact of porn and decreasing the demand.

“Mom, if you could wish for one thing, what would it be?” I don’t know, Son, what would you wish for? “I’d wish for no more porn in the world. Maybe when I grow up I will fight against porn.” Battling evil shouldn’t be a little boy’s burden, but even my hyper-vigilance wasn’t enough to stop the relentless and targeted assault of the porn industry on his bright, curious eyes.

A pornography epidemic is on the rise, not only because it is easier to access, but because of the lack of information people have had on the negative and harmful effects associated with this harmful, depressive material. In this case, ignorance really isn’t bliss.
How The Porn Industry Capitalizes On Loneliness And Depression

Opposition to sex trafficking is almost universal. People don’t think anyone should be forced into sexual acts for another’s gratification. Yet, this form of slavery is widespread, even in Western nations.
But many also say they believe pornography production and distribution is a “victimless crime.” They don’t connect the dots that lead from pornography directly to sex trafficking.

Could you repeat this again, only in English next time? I'm having a hard time finding a consistent message in this.
What, really? I think we've heard forever about chastity, I'm just saying that the secular faction has sort of a shia and Shiite differentiation then for border checkpoints to get shot in the head. Hey nobody cares when you Claim you are fired for Christianity, and all "disturbance" they Ever point to happening you explain as their anti-Christian, Christian this or not Christian that, and that whole thing is just a tripping stone for everybody. Everybody else is a drunk, they said, enjoying themselves, you mimic a school environment, you're a disturbance.

I said obviously, when people look to disadvantage you openly on demographic traits, and only on those traits and in writing, then obviously the inverse of this trait, frequent masturbation, is of course the position of being a dominating character by the institution, employer, etc, ridding Christianity.

Google sends you ads based upon your search patterns.

Just sayin.

That might explain why I get ads for weight loss/muscle-building programs, 'male enhancement supplements', and offers for mail-order brides from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Russia. What I don't understand, though is why a mail order bride would even want an overweight, understrength guy who needs viagra?

(Actually, I've no need of those things, I'm happily married, and I don't browse those sorts of websites so honestly I haven't a clue why the system would target me for such ads.)

This thread is very Specifically about the OP trying to pine on and proselytize specifically on Christianity and total celibacy. That's the point of the thread people need to focus in on. The Faith is so many other parts of our lives, intellects, and an active Useful thing, when compared to it makes a faith stick out, not be acknowledged, have medical 'erection' be laughed at, be labeled a threat to class, and you mentally never Did anything, I think its unhealthy doctrine. College will involve overactive persons, many personalities, people litigating a lot of things. They do have to Discuss with some freedom very human subjects at a College level. How people Want things, that's Consumer Behavior. Telling people they are kicked out directly related to "being Christian" , that I disturbed "Christian" students, that I wuld need to only progress bothering them more, that's some huge fault on the other end, that's institutional.

The only thing I'm saying is Buddha sat under a tree for 40 years. Jesus might have had his prostate removed by a Roman spear. You're not a Roman are you? It is dangerously Roman, it'll make you feel like a Monastic, hooray for that. And for all that good just for you and Jesus, people catching on get to crucify your prostate.

I like seeing pictures of nude / semi nude women as I'm a heterosexual. I don't like porn though- especially now people start photoshopping peoples' faces onto it.

One question that's been on my mind for ages is why Playboy TV website / Playboy channel shows actual porn when it was meant to be classy and upmarket? I thought that's the reason celebrities were in it. If people want porn why don't they look elsewhere?

Another thing is I don't understand why Hugh Hefner doesn't like Peter Stringfellow

That's literally off topic though ronki. Nobody likes This thread off topic let me tell you. The reason is self-denial that, the pictures we assume in the population want to be seen, are not to be seen.

If you are constantly getting ads (which actually Google allows you to dismiss and even report as inappropriate these days) then that’s based on your history, my dude. If you do not wish to see such ads, then may I advise you (or whoever else is using your computer) use the incognito function when you search for your porn. Geez, rookie much?
Also porn is hosted on pornhub, not YouTube. Ffs do you even internet bro?

That only leaves you with the bible. A book filled with graphic stories of murder, incest, rape, slavery, and genocide.
Not to mention the very erotic "Song of Solomon" 5:4 "My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him."

Leave things as they are. What is inherently bad about pornography?

Why is that an issue but we watch murder in movies, people rape others, etc and we're just fine with it because they are just acting?

Porn actors are just actors. Some people like it others do not. When you see a movie and a sex scene comes on, why is that better to watch than another movie that theme's around sex?

Also, scripture is not everyone's foundation for morality; so, it's irrelevant in this case.

Because porn isn't 'acting'; it's showing real intercourse.

Also in the 90s they banned MMA because it was too violent for audiences but it's ok to see movie fighting? If you look into MMA you'd see fighter safety is paramount and there are rules

ronki Please get a Hold of yourself And your computer and Leave. That child-like hockey team is a stupid name over all. Your statistics suggest anyone viewing human's birthday suit are 70% chanced to the felony of rape.

SomeRandom is totally dismissive. I have been personally invited to the internet to only make me associable with such images. I've invited others as a prank to the same in public spaces, when it happens to me it can be roped to a chair, make an account, make it look like you're associated with this. No way to understand SomeRandom's Addict's attitudes here.

No, nobody at all but users choose your Facebook friend images. What if 100 fake friends linked to a profile you linked to all had their profile pictures replaced with pornography or highly riske'?

I said over 70% of people who watched RAPE PORN would re-enact it.

Over 86% of people whom have committed rape have watched porn (not only rape porn)

As I've already said, I don't mind nudity but I don't like porn.

OK I have to get over having to see these totally pointless statistics again. Sorry... Rapists are freaky in a number of ways and monkey see monkey do = conclusions.
