Would you go back in time to see if your religion was correct, if it meant you could not return

Muffled

Jesus in me
No, I would not need to go back in time to verify if Buddhism is right, I have no doubt it is correct teaching.

I don't believe going back would do anything but establish that the teaching is authentic but it will never help you realize that it isn't correct.

Would you like it if I said the same about Jesus? I do not mind that you disagree with Buddha Sakyamuni's teaching. But i can assure you that i do not think Jesus and Christianity is a false or wrong path for those who follow that teaching :) I just chose to follow Buddha teaching instead.

i believe I could carve up a nice little idol and be satisfied with it except for the fact that it couldn't hear me or speak to me or help me in any way.

Unless and until one even minimally understands how another person's belief system works, it's best to remain silent on the subject. Don't you agree?

No, I would not go back in time to see if it's correct, whether I could return or not, because for me it is correct. It's not simply a religion, in fact, it's less a religion and more a way of life. However, I would go back in time to experience the historic time and life in Iron Age India.

Agreed. Because it (Buddhism) is also right "it will never help you realize that it isn't correct"

  • I have no need to know if my religion is "correct." "Correct" with regard to what, exactly? By whose standards? Why do those people get to set the standards, whatever they are? My religion works for me and that's good enough. I'm confident that its precepts, as I follow it, could work for the human family. If it works, it's "correct," although that's not a good term.

Of course I would. Religion has very little do with a God. It has everything to do with culture which changes so quickly.

It would be great to see how our ancestors lived and their beliefs, the hard coding of such beliefs which the concept that priests determined should be codified and how those beliefs compare to our current culture.

"ideogenous mover" asks:

Would you go back in time to see if your religion was correct, if it meant you could not return...?

In my case as a Baha'i (Baha'i Faith is 176 years old)

The Bahá’í Faith - The website of the worldwide Bahá’í community

I would probably be more interested in going ahead in time and see the fulfillment of the Baha'i teachings in the world...such as the adoption of a universal auxiliary language or universal education for all children or the establishment of a representative world government or the adoption of a universal currency and the accomplishments of women in the future along with an end to prejudice, racism and class consciousness … to name a few.

I already know my life is approaching it's end and am looking ahead to my soul ascending to the spiritual words so coming back to this physical plane holds little interest to me.

No. I'm a woman and I'd be stoned to death pretty fast.

A guy who forgives people that nail'd him is definitely not just a guy
Which of the authors witnessed him saying it?

but you have to then...CREDIT A HUMAN BEING for coming up with the IDEA of FORGIVING a torturer ...and loving enemies.
Jesus doesn't love his enemies, though. You don't hear of him and Satan playing games and eating together in harmony by the camp fire.

"spiritual words" or "spiritual worlds"

Did the Spirit make you write "words"

In hindsight , no way Jose.

I'm sure if I was still a Christian, and went back in time , all I would see is life going on as it always has in that time and era.

I'm fairly sure I'd meet early Christians, but certainly no Christ and collectively just as irritating then they are now if Josephus is any indicator.

As far as Buddhism goes it's an empty religion. Whether I would have time traveled or not, there would be no difference in terms of emptiness.

Correct words. I could check what parts they edited, added and deleted.

In my case there is no need to go back in time, as I did the checking part already in this lifetime. So I have 0 doubts about my "religion".

i think what that means is you can defeat a hate monger with love , or someone who's intention is to create hate you offer them overwhelming inclusive love to curb their intention of bringing hate within you, one might lose the battle but the story of the war will prove you victorious. AFAIK when jesus interacted with satan his tone wasn't that of hate but reasoning and politely refusing to his offers.

Ah, now II have been "triggered" and it is on me,
something wrong with me.

And it is "trolling" if I point something out and then
let you try to figure yourself out, rather than giving
you a detailed dissection.

when you're materialistic your brain frequency is anal retentive lol , i ve felt both sides enough to know this.

Whether you meant this about me, or about
mysterious unnamed others hardly matters.

I only noted a fraction of the bs in it, the insult.
There is lots more, all of it garbage.
I left out how anyone who does not see things
your way has something wring with them.
And the total misuse / incomprehension of
what "anal retentive" is about.

"Brain frequency" indeed. Garbage.

And outstanding is the claim of "both sides"
as if with those two words you can claim
wisdom as from a lofty perch. We see that
shyt all the time, from the goddies who claim
that they know all about the flaws in atheist
thinking-"For lo, I too was once an atheist
but now I have seen the light, as some day
you too may".

Different words, same claim.

You have a lot to learn about "love"
before you go to preaching.

you 're spot on with your analysis and honestly i meant the taste of materialism to me felt like a prison of insatiable never ending desires.
once again , i described how it felt to me and wasn't intended for you :)
im a work in progress till this life ends and might carry on for next few lives ..
