You are always welcome back to Norway :) And yes Bergen is a beautiful city in the west of Norway :)

Also liked Oslo and the Bøyabreen glacier, Fjærland. And even the train from Oslo to Bergen. Great country

Italy is great, fantastic weather most of the time but it sure knows how to rain. Walk round almost any corner and discover some ancient masterpiece just parked at the side of the road. But i have issues, repairing 2000 year old buildings with concrete blocks, turns me away.

I like India, the bustle, the smells, the colours, but so much poverty. The poverty rate is declining rapidly but with so many people even a small percentage is a lot of people. And the heat can be oppressive

I like parts of the UK. The lakes. Derbyshire, the Cotswolds, Lancaster (i am not biassed) have stunning countryside. And the Scottish Highlands. But lousy weather

I settled on France, it has he beautiful countryside, the bustle and smells of markets. Nice weather in summer, not to bad in winter. And a history going back at least 40000 years

Have you been to the North of Norway before? Example of amazing City with beautiful scenery is Tromsø :)

No only the south and only as far north as the Bøyabreen glacier. I am thinking of returning to go further north, if I can convince my wife to make the trip. I am making some progress toward that goal by using a Northern lights viewing trip. But she is still not on board yet

However the country impressed me to the point where if I were a younger man, I would consider moving there.

Yes, I noticed it was rather expensive at the Bergen fish market, when I realized there was a price for staying in and eating, or getting it to go.

And I am not a complete foreigner I'm all of 6% Norwegian :D

Why would repairing 2000 year old buildings with concrete bother you? The Romans used concrete to build most of 'em in the first place.

My favorite country. When I was younger I thought...oh...Italy and Greece. When I got older I thought...central and south America. I spent a year and a half in England, and now?

I'd like to go to Scotland, but I'd be perfectly happy just to explore the west coast of the USA....if I could keep people silent about politics.

The Romans used stone and brick, with concrete filler.

The repairs are just great smooth blocks concrete

The alternative is to restore them

Evidently not. I'm also thinking that the different material might be deliberate, so that later generations could see the difference between the original and the later additions. Certainly I know that some archaeologists prefer that, figuring that attempting to restore them with the original materials would, first, be too obvious and a great deal more 'Disney.' Not to mention unsafe in an area prone to earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.

I'm not certain I don't agree with them.

I think, however, that when they finish excavating Pompeii, that restoring it using original stuff would be good. IF, that is, they can get all the paintings and sculptures out of the various museums that they ended up in.

It'll take a lot of work, but perhaps they can get Herculaneum out of the sixty meters of rock it is buried in.

In fact, I would love to visit Pompeii, but it would take more walking than I can handle.

If you could choose any country in the world to go back to visit or visit for the first time, what country would this be?

I think I would choose to go back to Italy if I got the chance. But also Poland is on my list to go back to.

I've only visited a handful of countries, so I don't know that I have a favorite. My favorite may still be undiscovered by me. There are always some things I liked about any of the countries I visited, and some things I didn't like.

Iceland (Have friends there) or Greenland (Been there when I were little)

But seriously what is there not to like? (Except all the tourists, they hate them :D)

I've heard that Norway has a 48% income tax. How do you feel about that?
For business yes 48 % income tax, as private person it's between 23- 34 % income tax :)
I think i am so used to it that i dont think or feel about it :) it's just how the law is here
