Some Sad News

Hey everyone,

I went with my parents to the vet yesterday, regrettably to put down my cat Foss. We had two cats, Foss (black and white, male) and Jess (Black, Female). We've had them for about ten years. (Jess is fine and utterly un-phased by the whole thing. She's sitting on my lap as I type).

Three years ago, Foss has a serious illness when his kidneys failed and we thought we lost him then. Fortunately, he survived (with my mum taking the brunt of having to give him his medication each evening). After the recent hot weather in the UK, Foss started to lose weight very rapidly. We took really good care of him over the past week thinking he was going to go each night, but each morning he was still there, hanging in there. Eventually, we decided we weren't going to let it go on any longer. and went to the vet. We buried him down the garden this morning. I am going to miss cuddling him, but life goes on.

Anyway, I am coping pretty well under the circumstances but thought I'd share the news and some photos with the forum. (The last picture, with Foss in the snow, was from the Winter of 2010.) Rest in Peace. :)

From the pictures I can tell that Foss was a charmer. Rest In Peace, Foss.

I have been down this road way too many times. Nevertheless, the love dogs and cats give is well worth the pain.

There is another somewhere who will have abundant love for you, watch for him/her.

You can never replace the one you had, but you can start a new story with another.

My condolences, having 2 cats (and recently loosing a 3rd (also to kidney problems)) i can understand your sorrow.

I am sure Jess is on your lap to console you.

Your pictures show a contended cat, he had a good life

I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful kitty friend, Laika. But take solace in the fact that he lived a good life and was well-loved. Rest easy, Foss.

Zoe & Lucy are saddened by the loss of Foss.
Well, they aren't....being cats, you know.
Anyway, RIP, Foss.

Cats are people too, though they might be offended by that remark. You gave him a good life, and he gave in return. I give thanks to cats like Foss.

Thanks everyone. :)

Yeah, he was definitely a charmer. When we went to go buy some kittens he sat on top of my foot and began licking it through my sandals. So as a pet, he chose us rather than we chose him.

How could we resist charms like that? :D

(Jess meanwhile was a black dumpling hiding behind a sofa, so my mum had to reach down to find her).

Thats definitely a nice thought. My mum is already contemplating getting a new kitten (perhaps by Christmas) but we will take our time to digest this first.

Very true. Thanks so much for your heart-felt comments. :)
