What is the difference between a Flat Earther and a Creationist?

I’d have to be a pure moron to believe in this. Even if gravity works on large bodies such as the water ~ the kangaroo has no effects.

Hum - are you actually for real? Posting an upside-down photo isn't much of an argument and.... don't you know how gravity works between a small mass and a large one? Do you want help with the maths?

Perhaps you have can have NASA provide a 24-7 live feed of the Earth from space, of the Earth spinning 1040 mi an hr while wobbling, and zooming in on sideways and upside down things.

Okay - so upside-down photos pretty much defines the intellectual level of your "argument". I really hope you're joking.

I am not a globe or flat earth believer, I simply am able to see aspects of both sides. I’m not foolish enough to believe that those pictures I’ve posted above are any kind of realistic. I’d have to be a moron to believe that ~ but they’d have to be realistic on a globe or oblate spheroid.

When NASA provides a 24-7 live feed of the Earth from space ~ spinning at 1040 miles per hour ~ along with the Earth’s wobble they state ~ and zooms in on sideways and upside down ships, buildings, aero planes, I’ll believe in it.
I think it's unrealistic to expect that anyone so far down the rabbit hole that they actually believe in a flat Earth would be convinced even by the 24-7 feed you describe. You're talking about the people who - almost by necessity - believe that the Moon landings were faked. Many of them believe that the very existence of Australia is faked.

Why would you assume that anyone who thought that "they" have the resources to maintain the fiction that the entire continent of Australia doesn't exist, that anyone who claims to have visited is either lying or acting, and that an elaborate ruse is being played out all over the world by all the people who act as if it does exist - scheduling flights to it and whatnot - would think that "they" don't have the resources to fake a video feed from space?

If the Earth is spinning 1040 mi an hour, why doesn’t a plane just elevate and stay idle (saving on fuel) and wait for the Earth’s spin to take it to a destination?
That's not how physics works. Was this a sincere question? If it was, I can go through some of the problems with your assumptions.

Anyone else can do this too with a smaller diameter sun and one that is not 93 million miles away. Works for the other too. Recreates just fine, same math.
The math doesn't actually work out with a close, small Sun. For one thing, if that were the case, the entire world would experience sunrise at the same time.

If you don't like Eratosthenes, there are many other tests that a person can do. For instance, you can look at the shape of the Earth's shadow on the moon during a lunar eclipse: it's always round.

Other fun methods you can do yourself:

10 easy ways you can tell for yourself that the Earth is not flat

Typical gaslight ~ “you don’t know math or all it takes is a high school level geometry.”
It's not gaslighting if it's true. Flat Eartherism should be transparently wrong to anyone with a basic grounding in math and science.

As I said, there are places on the Earth where on can see the curvature of the Earth. Some sort of reference is needed to see the curvature. This is an image from one such place:

Perspective is not curvature.

Same applies for you and anyone else too far down the rabbit hole to think otherwise. I’m open to anything. Perhaps some would still not be convinced.

You’re very wrong here with this assumption.

Science is curved water and sideways and upside down stuff? Anyone can make the mathematics work for sphere or flat ~ even the brightest of minds have said this and know this.

If you take curved water and call it science ~ that is a joke. I’m personally open to the possibility that truth is stranger than fiction and that this is somehow legitimate ~ but it’s every bit of unrealistic that most seem to call reality.

@Uncommon Sense OK, I've always wanted to ask a flat-earther this.

Why?

I mean, in your mind this must be a massive worldwide conspiracy. In fact the biggest in history, that must involve countless people in all sorts of jobs in which you'd have to know about it. And somehow, it's been kept up throughout modern history! It must have involved all kinds of elaborate hoaxes - involving even more people. It's somehow been maintained through two world wars and the whole cold war - yet nobody has let down their guard down. Not a single trace of tangible evidence has emerged!

To me this human aspect is even less believable than the nonsense science, the silly upside-down photos, and the childish jibes about "curved water".

What's the motivation? In whose interest is it to maintain this? How do they manage to make so many people cooperate with it?

What is disturbing about the Flat Earthers is not their willful ignorance of basic science. What is truly sad is the underlying unhappiness and alienation that have caused them to seek solace in a cult of blind faith and conspiracy theories.

I should probably back up a bit on what I said in my last post, because I think that there's more stuff at play here.

I think it's true that to someone just motivated by facts and evidence, flat eartherism seems absolutely absurd. The evidence really just doesn't support it in the slightest.

... but this ignores an important fact about flat eartherism: it's not about evidence. IMO, it's generally about meeting some sort of psychological need, so maybe it's a mistake to engage with it as if it's about the facts.

Perhaps you can provide amusing images from space of upside down and sideways existence.

Basic science and mathematics can work just fine on a flat earth just as one can project a sphere (stereographic projection) over a plane and use spherical geometry which also works fine. Some tweaking of sizes and distances are all that’s required on a plane model.

This is where people often mistake and lie regarding perspective and try imposing spherical geometry as of it would be the same on a plane.

‘Some psychological needs.’ Yeah, you’re certainly a great gaslighter.
