Can we all agree that this is dumb?

Wherever you stand on the gun control and terrorism issue, can we at least all agree that this guy is profoundly dumb:

Prosecutors in Springfield, Mo., have filed formal charges of making a terrorist threat in the second degree against a 20-year-old man arrested for wearing body armor and carrying a loaded rifle — and more than 100 rounds of ammunition — at a Walmart store Thursday.

Officers had rushed to the Walmart Neighborhood Market, responding to calls of a potential shooter at the store where they encountered Dmitriy Andreychenko. Afterwards, police said they believe he didn't want to kill anyone; instead, he wanted to cause chaos.

Andreychenko had a slightly different story.

"I wanted to know if that Walmart honored the 2nd Amendment," he is quoted as saying in a police statement. He also said he did not expect people in Missouri to react they way they did. "I understand if we were somewhere else like New York or California, people would freak out."

"His intent was not to cause peace or comfort to anybody that was in the business here," Springfield Police Lt. Mike Lucas told journalists at the scene. "In fact, he's lucky he's alive still, to be honest."

If convicted, Andreychenko faces four years in prison and/or a fine of $10,000.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
As long as you have your weapon in a gun case, or the box you purchased it in people won't freak out as much I think.

Maybe carry a kayak in the other hand so people know you're going out on a Wilderness trip.

Lot's of RW threats and arrests lately. Don't forget about the Trump supporter outside a facility in El Paso. He was let go. But his pickup truck screamed mental illness.

I don't think a terrorist threat should be filed only disturbing the peace or disorderly conduct and civil suits if people have bad dreams because of it.

Let's say the guy was black or a Muslim or even both. I'd bet the farm on a different outcome.

But yes it's dumb IF he's being honest.

This guy is an idiot as he dressed up like some of past mass shooter just to do a "test". He could have accomplished that just with a holstered handgun. No need for body armour at all.

Yes, really dumb. Too bad it turned out the way it did because he sounds like a future shooter. It's people who do crazy things like testing his gun rights of get a rise out of his perceived enemies at a public venue who would be more likely to shoot them all up next time.

Why would a Wal-Mart honor the 2nd Amendment?
Wal-Mart is a private entity, and they can ban weapons on their private property if they think it best for business.
Frankly, I'm disinclined to buy at Wal-Mart. But if their policy is to let anybody with that kind of weaponry onto the premises they need to say that. If not, they need to say that. It's their store, just say what the official Wal-Mart policy is.

Everything he did may have been legal under his state's laws, but in the wake of several mass shootings, that was a profoundly stupid and irresponsible thing to do, even if he was just walking around with a shopping cart. Also it's slightly weird that he was only stopped after he left the store, and not while he was on his way in?
