Unclean Spirits

Does anyone know anything about unholy spirits or demons? I think my family and I have been living in a house inhabited by a few. It has just recently come to light that three of my five kids have seen entities and wrestled with how those entities have effected them. My children are adults, except for the last who is thirteen. They have all come to me separately; they have not spoken to each other because they were embarrassed or ashamed. Each has described the same or very similar things. I take them seriously not only because they do not know of each others experiences but also because I have my own experiences that can support or validate theirs.

There is one spirit in particular that has caught my attention because they and I have actually seen it. They've all seen it with their eyes, while awake, and I've seen it in the altered state, between being awake and asleep. They've all described seeing the exact same thing, down to the smallest visual details as well as its mannerisms, behaviors, and the effect it had on them. My boys (the adults) only decided to speak up because I had casually mentioned that my youngest daughter and I were seeing and hearing things bump in the night, so to speak. I can describe the creature if anyone is curious.

We all feel a dark heaviness while in the house yet if you leave the house that heaviness does not stay with you. For example, I will be feeling depression and anxiety (in the house), but if I walk down the street I will literally feel those dark clouds parting and the sun coming out. I feel the heaviness lift away. I've been observing the effects of these things on the member of my family for two decades now. I am beginning to believe these are spirits of oppression and I think they use fear, pain, and sadness not just to oppress but to also get you feeling angry enough to lash out or blame and seek out vengeance. Alternately, that anger might get turned inward, causing depression. I think this is the nature of the creature my three children and I have seen. As a side note, I also think there is another spirit that puts lewd and unnatural thoughts in your head or dreams in order to tease out the potential for sexual sins.

I know it sounds nuts, which is why it took so long for any of us to even speak to each other but, it is very real. When I finally understood what I was dealing with - it wasn't necessarily a grossly dysfunctional family - I began trying to expel the spirits in the name of Jesus Christ but, because my husband is an atheist, I've only ever managed temporary change. One day though, I was sleeping in my daughters room. I had fallen asleep listening to the gospel because I felt like I was being watched. Then, I was dreaming that this creature had me paralyzed in the bed and that I was at his mercy. The dream world was where he had power, or so he wanted me to believe. I actually called out, in my dream, "Jesus help me" and I was suddenly awake. The thing hasn't bothered my daughter and I sense. That was a week ago - a long time in this house. In the last week though I've experienced other things - things that fit more in lines with a testimony of Jesus as savior and maybe the beginning of a whole new story. I am curious though ... has anyone had any of their own experiences like this? I'd like to know what I am dealing with.

Yes. Once I attained a certain level in meditation, I became spontaneously aware of them. Now, don't go thinking there were loads, there were only a handful, but some were malevolent and two of them had the power to kill, which they subsequently did. Thankfully, neither were in my house. As to what you are dealing with... I personally think there are forms of life which dwell on the fringes of the human realm and sometimes interact with it. They are not all evil, but some are.

I am beginning to believe these are spirits of oppression and I think they use fear, pain, and sadness not just to oppress but to also get you feeling angry enough to lash out or blame and seek out vengeance. Such attacks will often precede illness, from petty stuff like colds, all the way to more serious cases. This is actually well-observed from your side, but most people will think you're mad for saying it. Anger, depression and sexual desire are all innate in the human condition, and therefore handy conduits for 'assault'. I have a different spiritual training, which enables some protection. Certainly use Christianity, if it works for you. If you can summon the Holy Spirit, like at communion, that should disrupt it. Long-term, try to get them out of your house. If you could get some friends together to pray in your house, it may help. "Where three gather in my name, there I am", or something like that. Good luck with it.

Despite my tongue-in-cheek post in the other thread about demons, I do believe there are dark, unhappy, even downright nasty and evil spirits, lost (literally) souls, etc.

One night I was in my recliner at home, watching tv. Suddenly I felt a coldness and dread-like feeling. I actually got creeped out. I got up and got a picture of Lord Narasimha (Vishnu's lion avatar, a fierce protector) and put it on the table next to my recliner. Almost immediately the creepiness, chill and dread disappeared.

Another time when I was at home, the house just felt "off". In my mind the house is "sick". Everything about it is wrong. Someone told me it may be bad vastu. Vastu is an ancient Indian architectural science. The building of the house may have violated, or not paid attention to something in vastu, even though the builders would probably know nothing of vastu. As the saying goes "ignorance of the law is no excuse".

At any rate, being somewhat superstitious (it's my Sicilian heritage :D), I lit incense and sage, walked around the house with it, ringing a hand bell, and bellowing "I don't know who or what the **** you are, but you better get the **** out of here before I call on Mother Kali to kick your *** into the next dimension". [sorry for the language, but I do have a potty mouth]

Well what can I say, whatever it was hauled *** out of the house and never came back. No one messes with Kalimaa's kids.

Just, FYI, I have experienced exactly this. During sleep the brain does emit a signal/chemical that paralyzes your muscles, so your dreams don't cause you to thrash about. So suddenly waking up and find yourself paralyzed is not uncommon.

I did in the past experience supernatural visions while awake which were very real experiences to me. Since I've learned how much control the unconscious mind has over our conscious experiences. While I can't say for certain that isn't some external force causing these experiences, I am quite certain the unconscious mind is capable of creating them.

It maybe a common experience shared by the family that may not even seem related causing these experiences. Fear and doubt reinforces the unconscious ability to create these experiences. What I'd ask is if your atheist husband has had any such experiences. If not it maybe because of his mindset/world view.

After deciding to become an atheist, and skeptical of these experiences they have completely stop for me.

I suppose I would challenge these supernatural entities to do their worst assuming them to be a fabrication of my unconscious mind. Kind of face your fear in a spirit of defiance. Which may not be a good idea with the wrong mindset. The unconscious mind is very powerful. Almost an entity in its own right.

Maybe consider talking to a psychologist first and or as some suggest having an inspector come by to check for environmental causes like mold though I suspect if your husband weren't sharing in these experiences, it wouldn't be environmental.

Yes, it's a demon spirit alright. It seems to me that you're doing right. There is more you could do if your husband was a Christian; but since he's atheist then you seem to be doing what you can. Praying in your dream is a good choice and I've done the same when attacked by demons in my dreams.

If I were you; I would get rid of anything occult related in the house if you can.

Yes, please.

The statement below I've written 2 hrs ago but for some reason it never posted the reply. I left the house for awhile and came back to realize it never posted. Sorry David.
Tall (7 to 9 ft.), skinny but stocky with protruding rib-cage, black silhouette (like a void) with no face. When it stands, it has to hunch over because of the ceiling doesn't allow it to stand upright. In my mind, I say a grey skinned, tall, skinny but stocky figure with protruding rib cage. I saw it from the back, bending over my daughter in her bed as she slept. It had a black cloud around it no shirt but maybe it had pants, idk. No hair on it either. I never told my daughter what I saw. It was the last time she's ever slept on her room.

At first I thought the problems were me. Then I thought genetics and dysfunction within the family unit. I was a Buddhist for years so my perspective was once vastly different than it is now. I practiced accordingly. Then, played with Taoism for a bit before being attacked within my dreams. I've battled demons in my dreams for years - very real ethereal battles. Maybe I am still mental but I've never told anyone and my children only recently came forward. When the kids turn thirteen, they begin getting harassed. environmental toxins though - that is a possibility.

My advice is if it's possible, to stay with a relative for a month to see if you still experience spiritual activity around you.

Did that. Just home from a trip with my daughter actually. Not a month but a week. We were witnessing my grandson get baptized into the Mormon church (his father is an atheist too). My daughter and I have talked about this with each other. We have the same experience of feeling what we are interpreting as the holy ghost, at times, when we are outside the house - this fades the longer we are in the house. There really is a distinct difference. So much so that she and I are willing to move out of the house even if my husband chooses not to.

I see. Just keep in mind that sometimes people are haunted rather than houses. It's easier when people are haunted though, what's really happening is that a person has a certain openness to it, the paranormal, and I think that spirits come to them thinking that these humans can help them get to the great beyond, when they can't always do so. Basically in such a case, I feel one has to try to visualize their mind's eye and hopefully through prayer and ridding yourself of fascination from the subject and ignoring the spirits, they will leave.

In the case of a house, it's often better to move. Because if there's a lot of spiritual activity, it takes many sessions of someone who understands the subject doing cleansings and sending these things off. And it may get stressful all the trial and error.

I don't think your experiences are abnormal. Just there may still be non-supernatural explanations. Meaning I wouldn't consider yourself mental necessarily., unless I am too, having had very similar experiences.

Also this link might be useful, if nothing else, just to see how common the experience is.

Demonic "presences" are not surprising and in no way negatively reflects on the person having the experience. It is a normal and natural happening to a dis-inhibited temporal lobe, some institutionalized temporal lobe psychotics have daily communications with spiritual entities.
The left temporoparietal junction is the part of the brain that defines the idea of self. By interfering with this area we cannot tell the difference between ourselves and others, it screws up the brain’s ability to understand its own body, thus leading to the creation of a copycat shadow person. This is the key to understanding why so many people, both schizophrenic and healthy, encounter shadow beings and other creatures like aliens.

I believe demonic malevolent spirits are real. I have had encounters in the past. Jesus Christ is the only defense from my perspective. I would suggest seeking Him in prayer for wisdom and discernment concerning why this is occurring and what situations or doors are allowing these entities into your lives. Are you part of a church or do you have others that can give you prayer support?

I've been dealing with this for quite some time but didn't actually decide it was a spirit until I experienced the opposite (holy ghost). Like I said, there is a testimony of Christ that goes parallels to all of this. I can honestly say I've received a message from God on many occasions. Once God/Jesus is truly in your heart things become very clear, however, I do not hear people talk about this stuff much, unless they are trying to conjure the dead. There was a time in which I thought that I needed people to pray for me, needed a priest to cleanse the place, etc. I believe God will have his way so I am not worried, just tired and anxious. After all, I've been here since 2002. I've learned a lot and I know I'm almost at the end of this. I feel it. Still, I'm curious to know what others might know. But maybe curiosity does kill the cat :)
