Wouldnt it have also affected europe as a whole because of its radiation? Even Germany told their citizens that they must remain indoors because they were scared of the radiation seeping into Germany and they reactor hadnt even exploded.
Yes...I believe Slovakians, Poles, Germans were scared as hell in those days.

It isnt my actual name. My actual surname is Jacobs, and another name for Jacob is Israel so I use that. Khan was my grandfathers original surname before he became Catholic. He is originally a muslim from India. The Khans were mongolians, think Genghis Khan, and the word means King I think. Many mongolians converted to Islam after they invaded the Islamic World. So the surname Khan comes from the Mongolians who are one of the Steppe peoples.

Thanks, excellent post.

Both white and red roses are a feature of our house, hubby's family are Yorkshire folk (i know but they cant help it).

So we have a red and a white rose next to each other in the courtyard. They have grown together to give a stunning display of both.

Either side of the front door we had a red and a white rose bush, some bugger pinched them, can't trust anyone these days.

Ah, yes. I recall that hubby is a Tyke....lifting you up where you belong! :p.

As for the rose thief......

What creeps me out?.......The BBC....offal....and selfie addicts......Oh...and tv presenters who speak as though British history began with the Roman's .....and long flights of stairs that I have to climb.....and......and.....:)

Horror movies make me yawn.
The horror of Chernobyl is pretty unwatchable because that TV show focuses on pain...and that pain is carved in history. It is something that really happened here in Europe and watching that pain is really really unbearable.

Btw I watched all episodes but the 3rd

After the mess of radioactive stuff that dusted the sheep farms of West Wales, Rhondda Valley folk wanting lamb would ask their local butcher for a 'pound of Chernobyl'.

At least hubbies family redeemed themselves and move to Cheshire when Paul was young.

I used to enjoy BBC 3 before they screwed it up

British history started in 1707 with the union of England and Scotland but i know what you mean

Here is a BBC article on the history of british peoples.

BBC - History - Ancient History in depth: Peoples of Britain

ROFL for first paragraph.

Agreed for the second.

 for the third (with a :))

As for the link.......Saxon propaganda!!.

Everyone who is anyone knows that Cymraeg (the language of the 'Comrades'*) is a Brittonic language of the Celtic branch of the Indo-European language family (I got that from Wiki; and you can’t argue with facts like that). It is by far the oldest language in the UK (and in the whole of Europe, with the possible exception of Basque).

* As you know, the word ‘Welsh’ comes not from our tongue; but from the Saxon (Germanic) ‘Wælisc’ (‘foreigner’). This, from a bunch of Jonny-cum-Latelies!

Joking aside; I am of the Silures. I don't like Romans!

Very best wishes to Paul.

I seem to recall that milk farmers in Pembroke were also forbidden to sell their milk

Years ago, I attended an IOSH safety course in Birmingham. Two of the group were fitters at Sellafield. They used to joke of glowing in the dark....that said, some other members of the group refused to sit next to them!

The link was a wind up?

BTW, the village i live dates back to celtic gaul, i am told by a local historian that the name translates as 'good valley'

I wasn't even here (there), came over with the Vikings who settled Caithness
