And why?

For me it's close between character and competence, and climate. Lately my vote has been an 'anybody but' vote, sadly. The polls have it really close. As usual, Greater Toronto will decide.

A mix of all of those factors, which motivates me to oppose the Conservatives. Which party I vote for will depend on which party I think stands the best chance of defeating the Conservative candidate in my riding.

(BTW: I absolutely hate our first-past-the-post voting system because it necessitates this sort of strategic voting. I'd much rather just vote for the candidate/party whose platform most closely aligns with my own values, but in our current system, I'd often be working against my own interests by doing that)

this. if we didn't have FPTP, i would be able to vote for Green Party without feeling like a sucker. as it stands, I'm gonna vote Liberal. the Conservatives have royally ****ed over Canada for too many years - not that Trudeau has done a particularly better job, but I'd still rather have 4 more years of Trudeau than 4 years of Scheer.

As someone living in Ontario, I can't ever see myself loving the Conservatives while Doug Ford remains in power.

Voted economy. Canada has no issues with Climate change. The problem states are China and the US. Canada has a strong immigration system Trump dreams of. Leadership will always be a problem in any system that has the masses voting as the masses are gullible. No issues with criminal justice here. Government corruption is status quo for any government.

I even wanted to have ranked choice voting in the poll I made for this thread,

I strongly feel that Climate Change is the most important issue. And it is not even close.

100 years from now no one will care what the debt was like in 2019, or the employment rate, or even know what SNC means (many people don’t know now). But what we do about Climate Change right now will mean a lot to whatever humanity still survives.

Uhh... thanks for standing with us so we aren't lonely on the global stage for having such an abysmally stupid approach to elections?

My point was about government as per elections as it is not run by deniers. In the US there are a lot of deniers in the GOP thus in Congress, States, etc. Even the last conservative government here joined environmental pacts.

Ask for clarification next time instead of wasting your time climbing up the wrong tree.

All parties generally at least pay lip-service to the idea of climate change. The Conservatives have a worrying number of members who are climate change deniers, but they aren't a big enough bloc to dictate the party's platform.

Where the parties differ is in their approach to the issue. The Conservatives want to avoid any measures that would have real impact on the issue and muzzled climate scientists the last time they were in power. They stand in sharp contrast to the other parties.

This is very much an issue for the election.

Ergo not like the GOP which was my point.

Nonsense. Look up the Copenhagen accord.

This is very much an issue for the election.

Economy is still primary. Climate issues and solutions require a strong economy or the results just cripple the nation.

Good luck with that.
More powerful countries would have other ideas.

You are using a hidden premise namely a solution as if it caused no issues in order to back your speculation that the ends justify the means.
