Is premarital sex moral or immoral?

URAVIP2ME

I think it's unhelpful to look at sex in terms of moral or immoral, it's more constructive to look at it in terms of appropriate vs. inappropriate, and positive vs. negative
I find in Scripture it is both 'inappropriate and negative' to have sex outside of marriage.
Fornication (from the Greek porneia) by any other name is still scripturally inappropriate and negative.
God will judge the ones having sex outside of marriage according to Hebrews 13:4.

There is no actual proof that humans even evolved from primates, let alone been around for 100,000 years. That is scientific speculation, not fact.

When God created humans to reflect his own moral qualities, they knew the difference between right and wrong from the beginning.
I didn't even notice before, but this is funny! Two very different statements: the first denying what an immense amount of evidence shows, and calling it "speculation," the second asserting what no evidence of any sort whatever, anywhere, shows, and stated as undeniable fact.

And I have to say, it is statements like these that cause me to really, seriously question the ability of the religiously indoctrinated to actually reason in an intelligent manner. And I don't like having to say that, but what else can I think?

Yea, it is written in the Book of Cyril...

Thanks for completely missing my point, but you do you.

The truth makes people run. Misinformation - kicking Christ to the curb based on lies - makes people run. So run, Forrest, run. Be dumb. Run from the Savior.

You think you are posting truth...lol Most people like Jesus, just not the religious right.

It’s neither. However, there is evidence suggesting that excessive sexual partners will damage one’s likelihood of having a long term relationship later down the line.

The liberal left's Jesus is not the Jesus of the Bible. Their Jesus is pro-abortion, pro-sodomy, is not the God of the OT who brings judgment on wicked men and nations, isn't divine, doesn't send anyone to Hell, and will not tell people to repent of their sins and immoral lifestyles.

So, what do you think? Do you think premarital sex is moral or immoral? Why or why not?
I've lived my entire life believing it is, but I've also heard stories of my mother telling me what my father would do to her. This taught me that consent is more important than marriage certificates.

Premarital sex is often violating the first purpose as it is often contracepted sex. Premarital sex always violates the second purpose since the two having sex with each other are not married.
Jesus wouldn't exist without one hooker and one widow who dressed as one. FYI.

I would also like to mention that a good reason for saving sex for marriage is because sex can and often does result in children and the stability and hopefully permanent nature of a marriage is a much better situation to raise children in than an uncommitted a non-permanent dating relationship or other types of situations which have no stability or commitment.
It's a lie that marriage makes things better.

The SCIENCE, however, does. Premarital sex is iffy. Dangerous physically and emotionally. As in, really, really dumb.
It's scientific? Like, STD's see that marriage certificate and go "OH NO, BETTER RUN, GUYS ... THESE FOLKS ARE MARRIED!"

No divorce is allowed.
Yeah, even Jesus says you can get divorced.

I think sex caused people
This is the 21st century. With modern medicine, virgins can have kids all the time.

IMO in abortion is the killing of healthy babies.
Like the ones without brains? Were the stillborn babies healthy?

I'd rather it be legal so those who need it can use it than ban it so that people suffer needlessly. If you don't want an abortion, don't have one.

If it's such a sin why are millions of christians on the pill? Well of course to have premarital sex and avoid getting pregnant.
I mean, technically, I have fetal-position-inducing cramps. That's why I'm on it. That's the problem I have for bans of birth control or abortion: it ignores the fact they can be done for various reasons.

At very best they've been wholly ineffective as a preventative tool, at worst contributing to new cases by placing acting teens in higher danger through lack of educated options.
And it's HIGHLY hypocritical to then go to Sunday School and learn about some little quasi-married girl getting knocked up without sex. Christianity DEPENDS on abstinence-only being wrong.

Sex is natural to almost every living thing on this planet almost since the first cells began to get together, marriage isn't, the first known marriage occured less than 4500 years ago.
Would mating rituals other than the sex act not count as "marriage", though? Like those birds who decorate using cool things they found, and the female bird chooses his nest ... that's kinda the same thing, right? I mean, Christianity teaches about marriage but Adam and Eve never get married. He just says he's going to have sex with her. Foreplay is not his strong suit.

It wasn't until after the serpent encouraged Eve to reach out and take that knowledge that we even became smart enough to have any concept of clothing.
The story isn't about a Fall at all. It's more akin to a story where the teacher teaches sex ed when the parent didn't want to because ignoring the problem means they'll never do it and God WROTE human psychology into existence and should know better. But this was a God who didn't figure out Adam needed another human to mate with until later.

And then there's those who think they can kick Christ to the curb and escape hell. How intelligent is that!?
Satan has no power over me. Why fear being in some loser's home, a home, might I add, God specifically created so he can rule over the people God doesn't like.

If all that stuff is real I'd rather be in Hell than spending all eternity worshiping an egotistical, genocidal tyrant. Separation anxieties, after all, no longer apply to me in that case.
I mean, if God bans me and Satan says he has a few spots open, why mourn the One who didn't want you? It's taken me decades to come to grips that my parents are narcissistic and incapable of love outside of shallow meaningless statements of it. If God is going to act like them, I'd rather be in hell. The fun people are probably there anyway. The gate is narrow to heaven. The gate to hell is wide. Doesn't take too much effort to see who is really interested in company, does it?

Given that an average of 40% of children are born 'out of wedlock' in the USA anyway, I fail to see your objection. After all, if everybody picked a partner and stuck with him/her, the children would have a better shot at having both parents.
Both parents are unnecessary, only multiple people. The mother has to sleep sometimes and someone else has to pick up the slack. Sometimes what is best for the child is to not be born at all or to have other people besides the parents involved in their care.

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
Is Paul God?

Though I think it's quite possible to be non-monogamous in a non stupid way, too. I'm just not personally interested in that sort of life.
Yeah, there are many things I consider should be legal but they're just not my thing.

If you do wind up in hell it's not going to be five minutes before you were wishing you were somewhere else.
And yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I SHALL FEAR NO EVIL. Send me to hell! I don't care! What's Satan actually going to do to me, kill me? If he can't kill my soul, then I win. If he can, I won't suffer anymore, so I still win.

Again, I'm against the killing of healthy babies. A baby without a brain is far from healthy.

I'm not against birth control. I'm for it. Following birth control plans would lead to less abortions.

Sex is fun. It's relieves stress, builds bonds, burns calories, can be creative, etc. A practice of safe sex is best.

That's a very good point I've never considered before. If God loves us and wants us to be with him so much, he sure did make it hard for us to get to be with him, especially since he designed us and knew it would be so hard.

How's this...

Look at it like this. I can go test drive a Ferrari, a Lamborghini, a Bugatti, a Aston Martin, etc. If I'm not ready for it and/or can't afford it, why buy it if it might get repossessed.

Same with a baby. A man and a woman are free to test drive who and all they want. If they aren't ready for a baby or can't afford it. Practice safe sex so it won't get aborted.

Really? YOu think that His mother was a hooker? I know that there are some who believe that she was made pregnant by a Roman soldier, but nobody I know of accuses her of being a prostitute. I'm also interested in who you think the widow was who 'dressed as one." Ruth, perhaps?

That's going back a bit.

It's scientific? Like, STD's see that marriage certificate and go "OH NO, BETTER RUN, GUYS ... THESE FOLKS ARE MARRIED!"

One looks considerably less foolish if one actually reads the post before one responds. I made it very clear that the point is NOT to have sex before choosing a permanent partner and then being monogamous afterwards. This has nothing to do with certificates, and everything to do with how STD's are usually transmitted. Are you going to tell me that if two virgins marry (or choose each other permanently, government approved or not), and don't have sex with anybody else, that either one is likely to contract an STD...or pass one on?

YES, there are other ways to get STD's....but those other ways are rare, and someone down the line got them the 'usual way.'

As in, Kelly, get a grip.

Not all marriages or permanent relationships are bad ones. Mine wasn't. My parents are going to celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary this September, and they did a good job together, and a good job raising their kids. My siblings have all (well, except for one bachelor) been married for at least thirty years. They've done a good job raising their kids, too.

I was married for twenty years myself...and I didn't get divorced. He died.

What you need to do is, well, at least as far as I'm concerned, read what is actually written and not what you have assumed I REALLY meant to say.

"“The research demonstrates a consistent relation between violent video game use and increases in aggressive behavior, aggressive cognitions and aggressive affect, and decreases in prosocial behavior, empathy and sensitivity to aggression,” says the report of the APA Task Force on Violent Media. The task force’s review is the first in this field to examine the breadth of studies included and to undertake multiple approaches to reviewing the literature."
So, all they have is correlation. Maybe jerks just like playing violent video games. Would you rather they kill real people? I play them and I don't have these problems. I understand what "game" means. Then again, Christians, especially white ones, in the US are responsible for most of our terrorism. The bible makes Metal Gear Solid or Mortal Kombat look silly and childish in comparison. There is a guy chopping up his hooker or whatever and mailing her chunks of meat to his neighbors. Maybe we should ban what is REALLY associated with violence in the US.

If everybody on the planet, just one generation of 'em, stayed celibate until they picked a permanent partner, and then stayed monogamous after that, wouldn't that eliminate sexually transmitted diseases?
No. That's not how viruses work. They evolve.

Sexually transmitted diseases are not spread by sex?
They are associated with sex. Bodily fluids is what is really the problem.

The first is you being incredibly lucky. The second? Well, that's you being lucky, too....unless someone forgot to tell you something.
Or maybe the risks you think are so pervasive aren't as much.

Why doesn't the Sodomite crowd write their own Bible, starting with 1st Sodomy 1:1?
1:1 And the crowd asked, "Who is this illegal immigrant and his family? Why should we let them in?"
1:2 And the city beheld the new immigrant family inviting MORE illegal aliens into the city. Like we have time for that!
1:3 And the illegal immigrant, sick individual that he is, told us to rape his daughters instead of criticizing the clearly disrespect for our immigration laws.
1:4 And the other illegal immigrants declared US the bad guys! The nerve! They declared war and started firebombing both our holy city AND our neighboring city, which up to this point hasn't even been part of the story anyway! See how cruel these immigrants are! This is blatant terrorism, is what it is. These people suck.
1:5 And the illegal immigrant family couldn't stay in the city they supposedly loved and then attacked, so they fled, and one fire bomb turned one of our own citizens to ash and her lousy husband said she turned to salt. Did he go up to her and lick her? Who does that?
1:6 We may all be dead but at least our daughters aren't raping us when we're wasted. Ick.

No unrepentant, Christ-denying fornicators will enter into heaven
We should believe Paul because ...?

Matthew 22
29 But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not [m]understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. 31 But regarding the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God: 32 ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead but of the living.” 33 When the crowds heard this, they were astonished at His teaching.
God apparently doesn't care about marriage anyway. The whole point is moot. He neither told Adam and Eve to get married nor can I think of any verse where God commands marriage as a thing. He just supposedly makes rules that never really affect him and only seem to be made up by government figures. Jesus is anti-family. He says you can't love anyone in your family and still love him (someone has some Freudian issues, doesn't he?). He constantly dismisses familial responsibilities, his own or others'. And given Paul sounds like an incel, he can't really be trusted to be unbiased about how relationships with women should work.

As far as I know, for true believers, sex is only for the duty of procreation, never enjoyment. So how does that pan out in your life?
Marriage is so sacred for Catholicism that its clergy can't do it and have to turn to kids instead.

I suppose that means that if one doesn't like the virgin - not shoes - with whom they enjoyed satisfying their sexual pleasures, one will, after a few weeks, months, or years, say, "See ya." and find another, virgin, and repeat the cycle - justifying a sexually immoral lifestyle, with the excuse, "No one buys a "pig in a bag".
So, how men act in the bible, then.

I don't think anyone other than NAMBLA members and pedophiles are going to defend child porn.
Pedos should have sex dolls and virtual porn. No actual children are harmed. They still get their rocks off. That's me being at my most generous, as I think pedos should be burned at the stake.

But know this, that in the last days ...men will be lovers of themselves, ...having no natural affection, ...without self-control, ...without love of goodness, ...lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God. . .
You don't think that's not happening in the bible? The men writing it just say God approves of their self-love. Most of the bible is curiously self-serving to the authors specifically or various types of religious or secular ruling classes.

How can it be morally right to sex with anyone or anything, at any time?
As long as there is no harm and all parties are consenting, what is actually the problem? I am not into a lot of stuff either. Hell, I'm even a 41 year old virgin. However, things I think are icky can still be legal because we should base laws on what is actually happening, not what I feel about it.

How can one overdo drinking water?
It lowers your serum sodium (for one thing) and will ensure death if not fixed. I've had patients who scammed people out of glasses of water all day long and they almost always get into medical trouble. There is a patient I have now who has in her medical record how much water to give based on what her sodium level is. She has been in the ICU before because she's noncompliant as hell.

Urinating is good too, When you drink too much water, you will pass it out.
Your kidneys can be overstressed leading to the need for dialysis. You guys understand there are members here who are in the healthcare field, right?

Masturbation should be encouraged if it prevents kids having sex before they are sensible enough to take proper precautions.
Yeah, I mean, I'm not into it, but it seems the most sensible option if there are certain consequences you'd like to avoid.

How do you know?
Maybe they're doing it wrong.

Biblical marriage is one man and as many women as he could afford. Not the best reason.
Yeah, like my father acted, the women have to be monogamous. The men get to do whatever they want.

No wonder you all get married so young. Gotta let that frustration out.
There's a reason the age of consent is stupidly low for some states.

I missed your evidence that the Resurrection of Jesus Christ is a myth.
No known witnesses. Medically questionable. No confirmed death in the first place. Conveniently entombed instead of under a lot of dirt.

Same with a baby. A man and a woman are free to test drive who and all they want. If they aren't ready for a baby or can't afford it. Practice safe sex so it won't get aborted.
Agreed. While I'm pro-choice, I feel both sides can get what they want more or less by birth prevention.

Really? YOu think that His mother was a hooker?
No. Read through his geneaology. Tamar dressed up like a hooker to trick her father-in-law to have sex with her. They weren't married. He was getting a fling. Pretty sure his wife couldn't get one. He is also related to Rahab, a hooker who betrayed her own people when Hebrews came to slaughter everyone.
