Pi 4 early adopter

I have a Raspberry Pi 4 2GB on its way. It includes a power supply, 32GB MicroSD, wireless keyboard, case with fan and heatsinks, and HDMI cable. I also decided to upgrade my old controllers from these:

To these:

The Operating System options right now are pretty much just Raspbian on the Pi 4. Though I'll look into installing something more robust.

Not at all. Many people would be peed off if it was.

Though the storage does factor into the budget. Every 32GB or more, in a way, costs more money.

Well that's good then I run out of space real fast these days. My phone takes upto 500g and I should really upgrade the 64g I have now

Yep. To make an estimate, 32GB card is $7, 64GB $15, 128GB $28, 200GB $40, 256GB $50.

You can even add an external hard drive to the Pi if you get the right external hard drive. However, it's a messy process... you have to know your way around Linux and also, you need a small memory card besides to load the OS on.

I really want to upgrade my Arcade style emulator soon. :D I'll probably drop the cash and get the Pi 4 eventually.

I'm pretty sure you can get MAME and Minecraft on there along with some others games. Supports 2 monitors right?

I got my Pi 4 and I'm here to give my short review. I'll keep it brief. The Pi 4 works great as a desktop replacement using Raspbian, truly fantastic and I'm seeing more productivity than my Celeron dualcore laptop on Windows 10. However when it comes to emulation, the software is immature as it has to be rewritten by the software developers over time, and it is quite bad and immature right now. The Pi 3B+ IS the better emulation box at this present time, better than the Pi 4. However, the Pi 3B+ makes a pretty horrible desktop replacement by comparison, too slow in performance.

My score of the Pi 4 2GB: 6.5/10

Even running 4g ram it's noticeably slower only just about matching the performance of very low end machines

I was speaking in terms of productivity. For example, my Celeron laptop with 4GB RAM may have more horsepower, but it still isn't fast enough to run many Windows apps so how does it matter being in such a horsepower-necessary environment, then you've got more bloated IDEs for programming on Windows, and Windows nagging you to do huge updates.
