So I had missed this when it was out in the actual Theater, and it was for rent on 'Zon.

Watched last night. It was quite good, I thought. Not a lot of plot, but more of an origin story.

I do like cyborg storylines, so this was a shoe-in for me, liking it.

The world building was very well done, IMO. Reminded me a lot of my first experience with Blade Runner (the movie, not the novel).

Complex backgrounds make for a good movie, even if if there isn't a whole lot of plot, or so I think.

Some criticisms complained that the plot was predictable, and well, yeah, it kinda was. But I didn't care-- I loved the world presented. It's based on Manga, and the project actually dates back to 2001 or so. Finally got it filmed in 2017, and took time to finally get it to the screen.

They clearly left open questions for at least one sequel, likely several. And indeed, the scuttlebutt is that is already in the works-- the criteria was that if it made money, they'd make more. It made a lot of money--not record-setting, but plenty enough.

I find I am looking forward to more of the characters.

My elder daughter, wife and I went. My wife and I didn't expect much (not our genre) and were pleasantly surprised.
My daughter is a genre fan and she loved it. I'll let her know a sequel is coming.
