If the only thing that ultimately matters is the earth and a guy who lived on it 2000 years ago, why does the universe have over 100,000,000,000 galaxies, each of which contain over 100,000,000,000 stars, and planets? The Bible says that God made the stars to give light to the earth (Genesis 1:14-15). Yet the entire night sky that can be seen, even away from city lights is less than 1% of the Milky Way Galaxy, which is much less than 0.0000000001% of the known universe. Perhaps, to paraphrase Carl Sagan, the manmade Christian god is too small for this universe.
Well you obviously mis read what the Bible say.
It tells you that on the 4th day God made two great lights to shine on the Earth to be signs of time Years and seasons.
it says
Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be
lights {note not a Sun and Moon but lights} in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be fo
r signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Gen 1:15 And let them be for lights
(Again, Lights in the atmosphere, not a sun and moon in the atmosphere) in the firmament of the heaven to
give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Gen 1:17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
Gen 1:18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
The verse that made you to misunderstand is verse 16.
Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night:
he made the stars also.
This is unfortunately a mis translation and the word "He made" isnot in the script.
It should read:
Gen 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night
the stars also.
Therefore, the Bible say that God made the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night with the stars.
What you misunderstood is the fact that the Bible gives a description that the Sun, for the first time since its existance, started to shine to its fullest as it progressed in accretion and eventually fell in upon its own mass, kicking off nuclear fission.this description is therefore one of:
For the first time the sun shined on the Earth, reflecting its light from the moon, and all the planets that did not reflect any light on the Earth before this event.
Now, it is also a scientific fact that the nebular theory is explaining, and which was noted by Emmanuel Kant in 1755.
Today science is actually using Genesis 1 as the model for the origins of the Solar system
Look at what I did in taking a picture from a scientific publication illustrated by an artist, and when I added the words of Genesis to the picture, One can see where science got their explanation from.
You only ask this question because these facts are hidden by Atheists in the scientific world.
here it is:
