Have you ever been cruel to animals?

Have you ever been cruel to animals. Before I had the grace of empathy I was. I look back and shudder.

Can mice traps be cruel?

As an adult I don't even like to squish a fly but do enjoy watching my tarantulas eat. I guess that could be mildly sadistic, because I'm getting pleasure out of another creatures pain, no? But I'm also happy for my Spidey.

Also, Do you think working at a slaughterhouse is bad for a person's psychological, moral, or spiritual health?

I have never been cruel to animals. I did once take a dead vole my cat had brought and sliced it open to see what it looked like inside. I was astonished at how colourful the organs were and how much they looked like what is shown in textbooks, how discernible.

I could not be cruel to animals, suffering upsets me.
Today came a scream from my daughter's bathroom. I ran upstairs, ran back down, picked up a glass, ran back up stairs, into her bathroom and trapped the dangerous processionary caterpiller, took it outside up the land to the fields and let it go.

Well, I did let one of my cats kill rats but later had rats as pets and I have killed insects, especially spiders. I do think about this. I think that it is more of a Buddhist concept than strictly spiritual but it does bother me. I even think about my son-in-law being an exterminator. And I really have hated when people trap mice on the sticky pads. The mice are held in place until they starve to death or are thrown out and then starve to death. I think those are very inhumane. To me, those should be illegal.

Have I ever felt like hurting animals? Not except for one dog I adopted who tried to bite me and other people often. I don't know what was wrong with him. I was glad when he had cancer and had to be euthanized.

And slaughter houses, my daughter's ex-boyfriend worked in one. I went there once. It was awful. Workers were torturing little calves. I was very upset. I've heard of some farm workers doing the same thing. To me, animals are God's creatures too.

Yes, most creatures are a lot more colorful on the inside than the outside.

I kill cockroaches if that counts?
I also will kill any spiders that I find around the house and then burn the webs. But to be fair, they are always poisonous spiders.

I used to hunt a bit so overall yes, but I'd always try for a clean kill

How is hunting cruel? It's survival. It's natural. Hell it can even be called natural selection.
A lion isn't cruel when it kills an antelope, a gator isn't cruel when it kills a wildebeest, nor a hawk when it kills a rabbit.

Because if you don't get a clean kill it causes suffering which is inherently cruel

Also man trophy hunts going for the biggest/strongest unlike natural preditors which single out the weak/old or unhealthy

Man is just another animal in nature that has figured out other ways to kill things and reasons why.
I however don't agree with killing for trophies, it's equal to small d*** syndrome IMO.

Actually acts of man are considered willful and deliberate, not natural

Trophy hunting or Sport hunting is hunting of wild game for human recreation. The game sought is typically a large or impressively ornamented male, such as one having large horns or antlers.

Actually man is just another natural animal species. A lion that kills for survival is just was willful and deliberate when it kills. The difference is we don't only kill for survival.

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
I shot a couple of animals while hunting and ate it for dinner. Also assisted in slaughtering some geese at a friend's Farm. Ate some for dinner as well.

That was when I was still a teenager.

I don't care what he thinks. Man is just another animal in the natural world.
We have evolved from ancestors just like any other species.
We aren't the fastest runner,
we don't have the best hearing,
we don't have the best eye sight,
we don't have the best sense of smell,
we are not the strongest, etc, etc.
We evolved in different ways and our brain makes up for what we lack.

Not really. But there was this one cat that was real cruel to me. He especially didn't like it when I sat in a spot he considered his chair.
