The Christian Right Is Going All Out to Make Sure Donald Trump Gets Re-Elected

What other stuff? Trump uses "the Wall" as a mantra- an easy to chant slogan to rile up his base.

Unemployment, the economy, revising prison laws, N.Korea, Iran, etc. Everyone knew the wall was gonna be the tough part, because Dems oppose it so much.

What kind of educational and language requirements would you recommend?

High School or G.E.D. at the very least and fluent in English, same as most European countries ask of the people that apply for citizenship there, some have higher requirements but I'll get called a racist even asking for the 2 basic requirements, not gonna try to push for more.

Trump makes his own disavowal of white supremacists insincere with his own tweets and past actions.

No that's you guys.

I take the allegations seriously. I have to, I am a citizen in a democracy. I vote.

Not seriously enough to look at facts.

He took out a full page spread calling for the execution of five black men.

So? At the time everyone thought they was guilty.

He attempted to use the Scottish government take away a poor farmer's land because he doesn't like how it looked from his hotel.

Spin that story! Maybe it'll gain traction!

These show parts of a character that I would not want leading policy.

Uh huh, bet you voted for Hillary though.

None of that invalidates climate science or the mounting evidence of climate changes and humanity's role in it.

Humanity's role has not even been confirmed. The earth warms and cools naturally on it's own over time. We are overdue for an ice age now by several thousands of years, it could be the earth warming is a precursor to the big freeze coming up. The data is inconclusive, except to people with political agendas.

There are very good reasons for judging a person's character in deciding if they are appropriate as a leader. Trump fails that in so many ways.

Puritans

And y'know, the price since Mexico refused to pay for it.

And what would the purpose of that be? We don't require those two things of our own citizens. And wouldn't that create a bias against poor immigrants, likely the ones who are coming in to better themselves?

No that's you guys.

<Looks around> Who?

I had no hand in Trump tweeting and his past actions and quotes.

Not seriously enough to look at facts.

Yeah-huh.

So? At the time everyone thought they was guilty.

Maybe. Not everyone put an incendiary full page ad calling for a return to the death penalty (have you read it? Disturbing stuff.) and then later ran for President.

Spin that story! Maybe it'll gain traction!

Not much work in spinning it. He tried to use his influence to get the Scottish government to relocate a poor farmer because he didn't like his land so close to his fancy hotel.

Uh huh, bet you voted for Hillary though.

Begrudgingly. I would be just as critical of her as well.

Knowing what you know about the carbon cycle, atmosphere, greenhouse effect, and the data showing the rise of Carbon Dioxide since the Industrial Revolution, do you really believe that?

Once again, personal attacks are not an adequate refutation to an argument.

Yes we do. Most jobs require high school diploma or G.E.D and fluency in English.

And wouldn't that create a bias against poor immigrants, likely the ones who are coming in to better themselves?

They would better themselves if they obtained a G.E.D and a fluency in english would they not? Better than no education and unable to read, write, or speak the language of the country you are in.

I had no hand in Trump tweeting and his past actions and quotes.

Nope, but you do have a hand in ignoring his disavows.

Yeah-huh.

Obviously not, or else you wouldn't need to spin stories at all.

Maybe. Not everyone put an incendiary full page ad calling for a return to the death penalty (have you read it? Disturbing stuff.) and then later ran for President.

Big old nothingburger. Nobody cares, the young men got cleared and life moves on.

Not much work in spinning it.

Quite the contrary. Ever heard of making a mountain out of a mole hill?

y. I would be just as critical of her as well.

Doubtful

Knowing what you know about the carbon cycle, atmosphere, greenhouse effect, and the data showing the rise of Carbon Dioxide since the Industrial Revolution, do you really believe that?

Even if we stopped all pollution today, the earth's temperature would continue to rise. Its apart of the natural cycle. That's not to say we shouldn't. I think we should take care of our environment regardless of climate change. But this notion of the sky is falling is what's put so many off on the idea. That's the left fault. It's along the same lines as a preacher hitting people over the head with a Bible. It pushes more people away than draws them in.

Once again, personal attacks are not an adequate refutation to an argument.

You attack yourself putting on this faux puritan show. Nobody is buying it.

Those are job requirements, and not every job has them. There are no requirements for having a high school education/GED or speaking fluent English. Many citizens would not meet that requirement.

Certainly! But expecting all immigrants to have access to education isn't reasonable. Lower classes (even in the US with a thriving public education system) tend to have lower education rates due to less access to resources. We shouldn't assume the person's native land has any such educational system to begin with.

The US does not have an official language. In fact, we are linguistically diverse.

Nope, but you do have a hand in ignoring his disavows.

They wouldn't be ignored (has there been more than one?) if his current actions didn't suggest the disavowal wasn't genuine. Do you assume Trump is always honest and sincere in his words? A disavowal is nothing if not followed by real change in action.

Obviously not, or else you wouldn't need to spin stories at all.

Nuh-uh!

Big old nothingburger. Nobody cares, the young men got cleared and life moves on.

Trump has yet to apologize. Regardless, I don't support the thinking and reasoning behind the ad. Why would I support the unrepentant author?

Quite the contrary. Ever heard of making a mountain out of a mole hill?

I don't consider it a molehill. I do not support the idea of rich folk using their influence to manipulate governments in order to take land from poor folk. Do you?

We can agree that we need to stop pollution and take care of the environment. Thus, I also find myself not supporting Trump due to his removal of environmental regulations.

The fact that people aren't concerned about climate change is puzzling. Remember the ozone layer? People got concerned and we did something about it. Why not now? I assume it's because of the money wrapped up in fossil fuels. There would be some disruption in every day life, but that's going to get worse as time goes on.

You attack yourself putting on this faux puritan show. Nobody is buying it.

Most jobs do have these requirements. Other countries education systems is not our problem.

Certainly! But expecting all immigrants to have access to education isn't reasonable.

Nope, and we are not required to support uneducated people who are not self sufficient either.

BS, English is the official language. Other languages are used, but not in official capacities.

They wouldn't be ignored (has there been more than one?)

Yes, and you've ignored them.

Yeup

Trump has yet to apologize.

He doesn't have to. Neither does anyone except for the state that falsely jailed them for a crime they didn't commit.

I don't consider it a molehill. I

Not surprising, lay off the emotional trigger for a bit maybe?

Sure

The fact that people aren't concerned about climate change is puzzling.

Because they see folks like you running around screaming the sky is falling in 10 years, every 10 years and the sky hasn't fallen. Boy that cries wolf syndrome.

Once again, personal attacks are not a refutation.

Okay. You've made your stance clear. I hope I have as well.

, English is the official language. Other languages are used, but not in official capacities.

The US has no official language:
What is the Official Language of the United States?

I often hear people complain about immigrants everytime they hear an option for selecting Spanish. I can see why Trump appeals to that type of thinking. He uses these empty complaints of inconvenience and xenophobia to attract supporters.

Yes, and you've ignored them.

You left out the important part of my point:

"...if his current actions didn't suggest the disavowal wasn't genuine. Do you assume Trump is always honest and sincere in his words? A disavowal is nothing if not followed by real change in action."

He doesn't have to. Neither does anyone except for the state that falsely jailed them for a crime they didn't commit.

He called for their deaths and he's now the President. To quote the rest of my response: "Regardless, I don't support the thinking and reasoning behind the ad. Why would I support the unrepentant author?"

Not surprising, lay off the emotional trigger for a bit maybe?

Emotional trigger? I am laying out clearly why this action of Trumps suggests to me that he is not fit to be President.

Because they see folks like you running around screaming the sky is falling in 10 years, every 10 years and the sky hasn't fallen. Boy that cries wolf syndrome.

Hyperbole aside, when the science supports environmental disaster, ignoring it is concerning. Had we taken appropriate actions when we knew the pollutive effects of fossil fuels were contaminating our air and water, we wouldn't be looking at a "sky is falling" scenerio.

Once again stop attacking yourself then.

Elaborate? I am not calling myself a puritan.

The US has no official language:

Languages of the United States - Wikipedia

"The most commonly used language in the United States is English (specifically, American English), which is the de facto national language."

And it was put to a vote once in 2006. English beat out German by 1 vote to be the official language of the U.S. in Congress, but since it was tied to an immigration bill that didn't pass, it never made it to law.

Its very disingenuous to sit there and pretend like English is not the default language used in the U.S.

You left out the important part of my point:

Nope the most important part, that you ignore a publicly made statement made several times.

He called for their deaths and he's now the President.

Boo hoo hoo

Hyperbole aside, when the science supports environmental disaster, ignoring it is concerning.

You missed the point just to preach. Very boring.

Had we taken appropriate actions when we knew the pollutive effects of fossil fuels were contaminating our air and water, we wouldn't be looking at a "sky is falling" scenerio.

Nope cause we ignored it for 30 years even though each 10 year period of that should been "the end". Boy that cried wolf don't forget.

Phew! Good thing I am not doing that! "De facto." No legality involved. It's not the National language. People do not need to speak English. Makes things easier sure because it is the most used language. But I could never learn English and no one can say otherwise.

Nope the most important part, that you ignore a publicly made statement made several times.

I don't ignore it. I do the opposite. I attempt to understand it in context to ascertain its truthfulness. As I have been doing. Do you assume public officials are always truthful?

Boo hoo hoo

Yes! Indeed! Five likely innocent men could have lost their lives based on what an influential rich man advertised. And he is now the President.

You missed the point just to preach. Very boring.

<Yawn> I don't think I missed the point.

How should it have been "the end"? Given the amount of environmental disasters we've had in connection with human industry, it would seem reasonable that scientific call to action is justified.

People do not need to speak English.

Yes they do. In order to interact with the majority of the population of the country they are living in. The ability to communicate effectively is a extremely important.

It's not an unreasonable requirement. Almost every other country in the world ask this requirement when applying for citizenship.

But I could never learn English and no one can say otherwise.

Well that's probably going to change with immigration reform.

Do you assume public officials are always truthful?

Nope, but I also look at evidence. You say you do but you don't.

Yes! Indeed! Five likely innocent men could have lost their lives based on what an influential rich man advertised. And he is now the President.

AND yet they didn't, and you still sore about it anyways. Grow up!

How should it have been "the end"? Given the amount of environmental disasters we've had in connection with human industry, it would seem reasonable that scientific call to action is justified.

Wow there is no end to your intellectual dishonesty is there? "The End" refers to the multiple calls over the past 30 years or so about how we supposedly were going to die within the next 10 years or so because of climate. Yet after that 10 years have passed we are still here. The boy that cried wolf. Do you understand now or do you need to be spoonfed?

I do say I do. Do you really believe Trump is a truthful politician that wouldn't say something false for political maneuvering?

It's not quite that I'm sore. I just think it is an example (one of many) of Trump's troublesome flirting with racism. And I don't agree with the line of thinking the advertisement proclaims.

I know the warnings have been dire, but I don't remember anything about everyone dying aside from Hollywood...

The truth of it appears to be that environmental warnings have typically turned out true. Some, like the ozone, we have managed. Others, like air and water pollution, we are still falling short on (despite some progress). And climate change--well, here we are: Scientific Consensus | Facts – Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet

I mean, the wolf does eat the boy in the end, right? ;-)

Awesome, I guess we both learned something. Must be a TON of illegals then because there is a lot that are not fluent at all. Otherwise you wouldn't have Dem candidate randomly breaking into Spanish during debates.

Land of free!

Amen brother!

. Do you really believe Trump is a truthful politician that wouldn't say something false for political maneuvering?

He does it all the time. It's clear as day to see.

I just think it is an example (one of many) of Trump's troublesome flirting with racism.

It's called crop dusting. When you just skim the surface but don't actually say a derogatory word. He is trolling y'all.

Only because the boy falsely cried wolf 3 times.

"Now that Donald Trump has put refugee children in concentration camps, nearly bombed Iran over problems he created, been accused of rape (again), inspired a rash of White Nationalism, and continued his assault on our democracy through his constant barrage of lies, how are white evangelical Christians going to respond in 2020?

They’re gearing up to keep him in office for another four years.

According to The Hill, Christian Right groups preparing to spend tens of millions of dollars to register their voters and paint Democrats as the real extremists.

The Faith and Freedom Coalition will spend tens of millions of dollars on a voter mobilization effort that aims to register 1 million Christians in key battleground states and reach 30 million people nationwide.

The group, which is led by conservative activist Ralph Reed, will pump literature into more than 100,000 churches across 18 states, primarily focusing on the presidential battlegrounds but also with an eye on contested House and Senate races.

The Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List, an anti-abortion rights group, has a budget of $41 million this campaign cycle to “expose the extremism of Trump’s opponents,” among other initiatives.

And the Family Research Council’s political action arm is activating its network of churches and community impact teams in North Carolina, Michigan, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas to turn out the vote.

All that because, no matter what else he’s done, Trump has been able to get anti-abortion judges (with lifetime appointments) on federal benches at a record pace.

So what if a bunch of minorities suffer as long as white fetuses get to live…?

That is so amazing to me. It just shows me that the "Christian" right is not Christian at all. They don't even care that he totally goes against everything Jesus said.
