Fear of homosexuality

Why are some of those who believe homosexuality is a sin so afraid of it?

Homosexuality in itself isn't a sin according to - as far as I am aware - any religion, so if we just think about homosexuality in general as a topic or homosexuals as a topic, why does it terrify some people so much?

It isn't the biggest sin, the most harmful sin, the most likely sin... It's one among others.

Where does the extreme fear come from and how could it be reduced among people who belive homosexuality is a sin, if we exclude the idea that the sin could be removed from the list or the people could become less religious on that issue.

It is possible to consider it a sin and even condemn it without feeling extreme fear, discomfort, frustration or anger when the topic is approached.

Persoally i am not against homosexual people as people but the sexual act is in my view between man and woman since sex is about how to get childen.

When it comes to fear of same sex person, i can tell that i have feared even be in same room as men, straight or gay. it is not a fear of the person, but a fear of being touched by an other man, or seen in a uncomfortable situation (public shower/lockerrooms and so on).
it means it is not them who do something wrong, but a psycological problem from childhood for me

Can I ask you a question? Would you use a female locker room instead? :)

Hello wasp,
the bible says that homosexuality is a sin.

Leviticus 18:22
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
1 Corinthians 6:9
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: ...men who practice homosexuality..., will not inherit the kingdom of God.
Romans 1:26
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
1 Timothy 1:8-11
Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

Sex is about more than reproduction. It has multiple functions.
Homosexuality is common throughout the animal world. Homosexuals may not reproduce as prolifically as heterosexuals, but they may serve other useful social functions. Diversity is important.

Be careful not to let your perception of "ickyness" color your assessment of homosexuality.

I am not afraid of it. Not for myself,or if
anyone else wants to go that way.
(Well, I would be super mad at my boyfriend
if I caught him with another man!!!!) :D

I experimented with sex with another
woman, but, it just really did not work for
me. Never felt any urge to do it again.

As for your thing about people who get into
all this fear, anger, etc, well, you know they
are just giving themselves away. Some do it
knowing they are gay, others because they dont.

Among the many reasons to see this "god" as
a rather sick product of human imagination.

I can not say what others should do or not do in the bed, but i still see sex as the way to get children.
"ickyness" as you call it is not something i controll, it is a psycological issue i struggle with every day. To be touched even just as a friendly nuggde on the back by an other man is something i can not handle well. It is not the other mans problem, it is my problem, and i do not judge them

Statistically unlikely. And not entirely logical either.

Haha. It happens to be true, you just made up that
thing about "statistics". Admit it; you made it up.

And, logical? When was human psychology
logical?

I’m thinking that maybe it might help if more men show our feminine side more.

That book says a lot of crazy things, which no one should take seriously.
