What are the Rules of Christianity?

All sorts of religions have these elaborate sets of rules in place about how they are supposed to go about life. There are over 600 in Judaism and the Muslims have give or take 1,000's depending on who you ask and the Buddhist have good set of rules too, I haven't really looked into Hinduism so I will give no opinion if they have any rules but I do know that the Bahai's have quite a set of rules. So Christians could you help us all out and tell what rules you have?
That's because those religions are for those who are still living in the flesh. Jesus died once in the flesh to the Written Law and He rose from the dead by the holy Spirit. Paul lists the fruits of the holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. If someone is bearing this fruit in their life then it is because they are filled with the holy Spirit and they did not do this on their own. It was Christ in them doing the work. I guess you could say that the Law is to obey Acts 2:38 which would result in fruitfulness for those who are faithful.

I think Ken S is right.

There are one or two duties in the Catholic church such as the duty to attend mass on Sunday, to receive communion and go to confession at least once a year and so on. But Christianity is not a legalistic religion when it comes to the practice of daily life.

I suppose it can vary from local to local but basically it is‘ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. And the second is... You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

You, sir, are a true Christian.

Love Jesus.

Love people.

The 613 Jewish laws hinge on these, if you think about it.

As a member of "all people," I like to use John 13:34-35 to recognize Jesus' disciples:

34 “I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you must also love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Matthew 22:36-40
36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

1 John
4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

Romans
13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Neighbors are described in the woman at the well and the good samaritan. Everyone is our neighbor.

1 Corinthians

13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not
love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all
mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I
could remove mountains, and have not love, I am nothing.

13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I
give my body to be burned, and have not love, it profiteth me
nothing.

Not all laws hinge on it. Jesus said no more sacrificing because he is the sacrifice, no more circumcision, you can wear two types of fabric together and a few other things. Some of the ritual laws were changed.

I believe we have no rule but we do have a ruler.

I believe that the JW's stopped studying with me when I justified violence. Evidently editing the Bible isn't just limited to translating, lol.

One rule. What ever you do do not ever understand the term love. Why that might grow out of control and destroy all our tradition. Nope bad....

In addition to what Crossfire said, I would add there are some practical rules for getting along with other people. There are many simple and prudent choices to be made, and they start with being as friendly as you can stand to be. Everyone has their limits: can you give away everything you own and live on the street just so that 1000 orphans will be fed? Most people can't bring themselves to do that. We all have our limits and our measure of faith.

Rule 1 is love your neighbor as yourself, but there are many corollaries. One corollary is not judging neighbors. Consider: Do you judge yourself or cut yourself slack? You obviously must cut yourself some slack. Another corollary is listening. Do you love your own ideas? Then you have to love other people's ideas. It goes on like that, on and on. We all love ourselves very easily and in ways we don't even notice. Extending that to other people can be difficult.

As for me I love reading my own posts. Yes, it is a terrible flaw.
