Why don’t you go back where you came from?

Then I guess all these racist videos don't show the common usage of "go back to where you came from."

If you hear that, expect the person to be ignorant and racist. As a white person myself, I understand that there are people in my race that aren't very bright and/or are racists. I live in the south, the lower class people in the area are more likely to be racist. They're easy to spot too.

They're the ones with the Confederate Flag (D) on their beat up trucks.

Uh, if YOU hear that, YOU expect. Kinda like what
we expect from a bigot. You may want to like,
nuance that a bit.

In Hong Kong, there is a lot of resentment over
"mainlanders" and they get a lot of "go back"
from the HKers.

We are all Han Chinese.

Of course people who do 'odd' jobs might see displacement. But that's the free market, they should work harder and/or compete with lower wages.

No, sorry ah, that just is not the case.

Prease inform yourself better. :D

I have relatives who are highly educated and
would love to come compete with any American
who has a job they want.

The H-1B Visa Debate, Explained

............................The order is the latest development in a long-running debate over how companies use the H-1B program and how it affects American workers. Much of the dispute surrounds whether companies take advantage of the program to hire foreign workers for lower pay, displacing Americans from those jobs. But it’s important to understand the underlying elements of this debate: one level rests on the heavy use of H-1B visas by outsourcing firms; another rests on the disagreement over whether the program increases companies’ access to scarce skills, or merely helps them minimize costs....................

"go back to where you came from" is automatically a dog whistle and has high chances of being spoken from a racist person.
Some of us can put 2&2 together.
As a white person myself, it's obvious people that use that language harbor racist thoughts/tendencies.

So you admit your family has displaced hard working Americans who wanted those jobs? Coming here spreading diseases, raping and getting a free check?

I not only admit it but I believe we have some African american blood in us.My Mother side in particular came to America from Scotland and England Whales, and gambled and scammed their way down here. When they got here learned to be Slave traders for years got rich and owned a bunch of slaves. they also owned some gambling casinos or halls whatever they were called then. They were truly evil and yes I'm sure they raped their slave women. Makes me sad. I'm also sure some if not most were alcoholics.

You're not following. Being white myself, I'm used to hearing dog whistles and racist statements often. If people pay attention to words and talking points, the talking point of 'go back to your country' will almost always be coming from a racist person.
If I was chinese and heard this statement for the first time, I probably wouldn't think much of it.

What do you think of Mongolians?

Skanky Old Mongrel!
Most of my people are German and have been there quite a bit over the years and visited other places in Europe. I never felt like a foreigner in Germany (or any place else for that matter), it was a strange deep seated contentment like I was truly home, that deep sigh when you know things are right with the cosmos. I would have no problem with it as home is where you lay your head.

So, have you been to Africa or would you want to go to Africa? Why or why not?
Can you speak fluent German?

This is more about the specific statement itself than the context, but this is a perfectly valid statement for someone who is complaining about a country they are not native to (historically, racially, ethnically, etc).

Euro Americans are displaced for sure, but the principal reason is not new immigrants, but because the capitalist system incentivizes the capitalist to purchase labour-power from the immigrants so they can pay less. Issue can be solved by getting rid of capitalism or mitigated through Keynesian management.

My gosh, not everything is about CAPITALISM!!!
Or RACE!!!!!

And it is not just them colored folks who come to the USA
of H1 visas!

"Get rid of capitalism"

I wish you wild eye radicals could have a
parallel universe where you could see what
your ideas would bring down on your heads.

Now you are just trying to be sensible, and not
give any air time to rants about dog whistles and
racism.

Just look at what this divisive Klan Klown Krony has done to this country, it's unconscionable, he's steppin' on all the necks:

The Trump Economic Boom is Benefiting All Americans | The White House

It certainly doesn't take much for some to sell out.

Racism is racism, and Trump clearly is a racist who appeals to others of his ilk. I have never heard a president of the U.S. over my 74 years say anything like he did this last weekend. What utter depravity-- religious and humanistic morality be damned. But so many in his base just loves it because they're being entertained and pandered to.

We've taken one huge step backward as a "gleaming light upon the hill", so maybe we should take the Statue of Liberty down and give it back to the French with an apology for tainting it. Frankly, if Trump were to be reelected in 2020, I have decided that I will renounce my American citizenship as I don't want to be associated with any country that supports fascism-- and Trump very much is a fascist-wannabee. Nor do I want to have any associations with those who support fascism and fascists.

I was sponsored back in 1991 on a study of the Holocaust in Poland and Israel, plus I've spent a great deal of time studying the rise of the NAZI's in Germany, especially delving into their propaganda machine that was so effective, and this is what I see happening here today in the country I love. It was done in incremental steps by the NAZI's, and so many of the tactics they used in Germany in the 1930's is now being used by our president today, namely a "divide and conquer" approach, attacking the free press, using bigotry against certain "not true Germans [Americans in our case]", and blaming anyone who got in their way as essentially as being those who were willing to sell out the "Motherland".

They wanted the military to be on their side, purged those who were not willing to give them blind loyalty, and they catered to the business leaders by promising jobs and increased production, much of that for the military. Their speeches were bombastic, loaded with we/they hyperbole and also military showmanship. Hitler often talked for three hours straight with his bombastic speeches, starting out slowing in a soft voice but then finishing his speeches with mush gusto and arm waving, finishing off to giving praise to God that he personally didn't believe in but that which pandered well to the cheering crowds. There was a cot kept for him backstage as he often was so exhausted at the end.

We're play a fool's game if we don't begin to realize just how dangerous Trump is, including the fact that most of the congressional Republicans are unwilling to stand up to him. Even though they won't say as such, they well know that to be on the wrong side of Trump is very dangerous, at least politically.

And, btw, do not trust Trump to voluntarily leave office if he were to lose in 2020 as he personally could have a lot to lose.

I hear racist stuff. I hear "go back" directed at me.
I did say all that.

The prob with the OP is the knee jerk
assumption that the president was being racist.

The "almost always" bit is going to be very much
a localized thing. In HK "go home" is for other
Chinese, but sometimes directed at the domestic
helpers from Indonesia and Philippines.

An analysis of the labourforce and unemployment in America and it's relation to immigration is impossible without considering capitalism.

Unless you think you can analyze a capitalist economy without thinking at all about capitalism.

sigh

In this case capitalism is the problem. There's nothing wrong with capitalism in general, when it reaches a certain level capitalism turns to corruption and greed.

Big Agriculture is the problem. That's the whole reasoning for coming to America. Capitalism is the reason republicans in congress will not stem the flow of illegal workers.

You can deny it all you want and claim what Hannity told you..."they're coming to America for freebies and to turn into democratic voters!.

One makes sense, the other doesn't.

Oh like I am a Hannity fan.
I will bet not one in a hundred of the
immigrants works in agriculture.
Both sides say the other does not want to
stem the flow of informal immigrants.
Honestly, people in America!!

That has nothing to do with the usage of the phrase though. You claimed it may not be a "racial thingy" my experience and the experiences of other persons of color says otherwise. When Trump tells all four congresswomen that they should go back where they come from despite 3 out of the 4 were being born in the United States, it is a problem. Now I'm sure you want to defend Trump's blatantly racist references to these women, but his comments were nothing short of racist and nothing less than unpresidential.

Sorry, I should have said radical RW media fan. You sound like you watch Hannity in the way you word things and certain chosen words. I assumed Hannity because he's the Tea Party Darling.
You're wrong on immigrants working on Big Farms. Ever driven by one?
I'm not into 'both sides" and whataboutism. False equivalence.
You don't understand what capitalism is then. To a capitalist, everything is profit driven. Shareholders, etc. Hiring millions of illegals allows these capitalists to a higher ROI. If given the option, capitalists would pay people $1 per hour. Thankfully, in America, we have regulations and safety laws to protect middle class workers from these capitalist corporations.
Republicans don't like those regulations and want to minimize/eliminate the fed minimum wage.
Democrats want these crooked corporations to pay taxes, not be allowed to hire illegal workers, not be allowed their government freebies in the billions.

A bit out of date but-As of 2008, less than 2 percent of the population is directly employed in agriculture. In 2012, there were 3.2 millionfarmers, ranchers and other agricultural managers and an estimated 757,900 agricultural workers were legally employed in the US.

Elsewhere we find...70% of farm workers are immigrants

and...An analysis by the Pew Research Center estimates that roughly 10.5 million immigrants in the United States were here illegally in 2017.

Your numbers dont add up.
Not surprising if you info is from a drive by of
some farms.

Your hannity tea party etc crap is just that.

As for who understands capitalism, I kinda figure
the one who wants to get rid of it has pretty much
put himself in the dont have a clue dept.
