Bizarre Sayings of Paul

I wonder if his epiphany on the road to Damascus was more a political eureka.

If you are a political person then all things are political.
In Cultural Marxism all things are political - even the
study of science, history, philosophy and religion.
And it is this political world which was triumph over
the religious sentiment.

Rulers are a threat to evil people, not to good people. There is no need to be afraid of the authorities. Just do right, and they will praise you for it. Romans 13:3

I like this one. Realpolitik, Bible style.
I mean, it's one of the less weird comments in the whole book, and I guess that's why it stands out. It's not...I think...religious in nature. Instead it's political.

To be honest much of what is attributed to Paul is either outright forgeries such as the pastoral letters or interpolation such most of Romans and both Corinthians. In fact most of Paul might be forgeries and interpolation............

Jesus often prefaced his statements with the words, " it is written ..." meaning there are parallel cross-reference verses located in the old Hebrew Scriptures.
This is also true of Paul's writings. There are corresponding verses connected to what is written in Scripture.
ALL of this shows the internal harmony among ALL of the Bible writers.
Jesus set the precedent at Matthew 18:16; Deuteronomy 19:15 showing verification between verses.
Paul follows through with what Jesus taught - see 2 Corinthians 13:1; 1 Timothy 5:19; Hebrews 10:28.

' triumph over ' or just prove to be God's ' arm of the law ' to go against corrupted religions.
Spiritual house cleaning will start with the religious ' House of God ' - 1 Peter 4:17
This begins at the soon coming ' time of separation ' to take place on Earth as per Matthew 25:31-33,37,40.
As in Ezekiel's day when God used the political world to go against his unfaithful people
As in the 1st century when God used the political Roman armies to go up against unfaithful Jerusalem.
So, the political realm, coalition of nations, will prove to be God's modern-day instrument to destroy false religion.
Then, God's kingdom government of Daniel 2:44 will ' Triumph ' over ALL that is wicked.
Jesus as "Commander in Chief" (Hail to the Chief!) will be the one who will rid the Earth of all that is wicked
- Isaiah 11:3-4; Revelation 19:14-16

Well given that the Romans were crucifying just about everyone left and right I wonder where Paul got the cojones to tell everyone that the Romans are only killing bad people

Be careful in saying God will destroy false religion, in as much as the book of Revelations
details the fall of false religion - all on it's own (white dragon, great city, harlot etc..) I feel
there won't be much religion when Christ returns.

They weren't crucifying everyone, left and right. Mostly, they crucified those found guilty of sedition. Something which this verse strongly speaks against.

Realpolitik.

Realpolitik.
It was supposedly written during the reign of Nero and just about everything during that time could be considered sedition

Politesse

Amor Vincit Omnia
His words stand. If God Himself is writing, he's taking sides in a racial dispute in a major way. If Paul is writing, he has still voluntarily made himself an ally of state violence for the sake of a personal grudge. Epimenides may have been Cretan, but Paul was not.

But they were considered seditious by Rome for refusing to worship the emperor, to do otherwise would go against the very tenets of the religion.

I'm really not sure what your point is here. Are you suggesting Paul's request was not political in nature (which was my point in response to the OP)?

Because if your talking more generally about Roman society I am more than happy to. But it's a different conversation, and less binary than you seem to be suggesting.

Truthfully I don't think Paul wrote the verse. It just doesn't historically fit.

One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle gluttons. This testimony is true. Titus 9:12-13

Hahahaha... Now you have my curiosity. Who are you exactly..

Liars paradox. All cretans are liars. AND I AM A CRETAN!

Me doesnt think yea a mere plumber. Possibly an accountant
If any of you can explain to us how these examples make any sense I will be grateful for your effort but it should be a rational explanation. Let the weirdness begin.

One of themselves, a prophet of their own, said, Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, idle gluttons. This testimony is true. Titus 1:12-13

Rulers are a threat to evil people, not to good people. There is no need to be afraid of the authorities. Just do right, and they will praise you for it. Romans 13:3

Women will be saved through childbearing 1 Timothy 2:15

From now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none 1 Corinthians 7:29

But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 7:40

I have to brag. There is nothing to be gained by it, but I must brag about the visions and other things that the Lord has shown me. I know about one of Christ's followers who was taken up into the third heaven 14 years ago. I don't know if the man was still in his body when it happened, but God certainly knows.
As I said, only God really knows if this man was in his body at the time. But he was taken up into paradise, where he heard things too wonderful to tell. I will brag about that man, but not about myself, except to say how weak I am. 2 Corinthians 12:1-5

I do not permit a woman to teach. 1 Timothy 2:9

We also gave you this rule: If you don't work, you don't eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10
Bob please explain why part of the liars paradox was hijacked and not all of it!!!! They may have done that for a reason actually. I dont think they were idiots writing. Although no present evidence of that really. Well a few are ok! It is a prime example of the nature of written words. Split the paradox use only half! It leads the eye!

All creatans are liars, and i am a creatan!

And i am here to tell you bob trust me i am an expert because i am a creatan.

Wait to you see what Jerome did with it:

I said in my alarm, Every man is a liar!" Is David telling the truth or is he lying? If it is true that every man is a liar, and David's statement, "Every man is a liar" is true, then David also is lying; he, too, is a man. But if he, too, is lying, his statement that "Every man is a liar", consequently is not true. Whatever way you turn the proposition, the conclusion is a contradiction. Since David himself is a man, it follows that he also is lying; but if he is lying because every man is a liar, his lying is of a different sort

Of course you know the truth i am a breathairian they cannot be trusted. I mean some believe they breathe, some are atheist breathairans they dont believe we breath, some are agnostic.

Now bob i have to be honest atheist breathairans are a pain. We invite them in and noooo we are not like you they say you. We say go away they say nooo you cant tell us what to do. We say ya wanna debate and argue and they get all excited. We come on in we will debate you but to make sure you are not remotely part of us. And they accept. They arent that sharp to be honest...
And as i write i write in a scottish accent yo cant hear it but its there. Because one must wear a mask to speak truth. And the text is dweply masked.

Saddle up. We're going to take a ride.

In Titus 1:12-13. Paul was quoting the Cretan, Epimenides. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epimenides. The quote has, at since the time of Paul, and possibly earlier been turned into a silly paradox when, in fact, Epimenedes was mocking his fellow Cretans who believed something that he did not believe. What did Epimenides and his fellow countrymen disagree on?

1. From now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none 1 Corinthians 7:29

2. But she is happier if she so abide, after my judgment: and I think also that I have the Spirit of God. 1 Corinthians 7:40

  1. 1 Corinthians 7:32-35. But I want you to be free from concern. One who is unmarried is concerned about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.
  2. 1Corinthians 7:39-40. A wife is bound as long as her husband lives; but if her husband is dead, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. But in my opinion she is happier if she remains as she is; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.
  • Context is important.
  • Likewise, the realization that Paul believed in the immanent return of Jesus Christ. If you think Jesus' return is imminent, what benefit is there in a marriage and breeding children?
  • When Paul says "I think also that I have the Spirit of God", he's just saying: "This is my recommendation and I 'm inclined to believe that my recommendation is in accord with God's will.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.

According to the Bible Paul spoke with a false Messiah. He was not to believe it, but he did anyways.

Wow, you would have to read a LOT of the NT to have found these verses. Did you cull these from your months of fervent Bible study, or just pick them off a website run by atheists?
