Why do Jehovah's Witnesses falsify the Bible?

sooda

Veteran Member
Not necessarily true. Only if the person is persistent after many interventions by the elders to try and "correct" their thinking. But shunning people is a form of undue influence, not brainwashing. It falls under behaviour control, as they cannot control whether other Witnesses shun the ex-JW's by force and haven't influenced them to do such by force. They influence Witnesses through psychological methods and information control to achieve behaviour control over its members.

That sounds so sinister...

In the old scriptures of the Bible it says in John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Is the New World Translation a valid version of the Bible?

but in the "Bible" of the Jehovah's Witnesses it says
... and the Word was a God.

The Jehovah's Witnesses want to hide the divinity of Jesus by adding a "one" to this passage. Because "a God" means "Mighty One". The original scriptures prove that there is no "a", a clear forgery.

John 1 (KJV)
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

If you read Genesis 1 you see God spoke everything into being and everything created by his word.
God spoke of the Prophet to come.
Dueteronomy 18.
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.

19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.

Jesus had Gods words put in his mouth and God foretold his coming. GOD is the word.

Second fake
In the old scriptures of the Bible it says in Hebrews 1:8
But with respect to the Son: Thy throne, O God, is forever and ever; and: A scepter of rectitude is the scepter of thy kingdom.
Heb. 1:8 and Psalm 45:6, "God is thy throne." | CARM.org

but in the "Bible" of the Jehovah's Witnesses it says
But with respect to the Son: God is your throne, ...

Again they try to hide the divinity of Jesus. The old scriptures prove that God the Father personally addresses Jesus with the title God. God, the Father, addressed nobody another with the title God, Jesus is the only one. This biblical passage also proves the Trinity.

God makes this matter clear about Jesus before his birth so there will be NO EXCUSE for those who call Jesus anything but the Son of God.

31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

God has made it plain before his birth that Jesus is a Holy thing and he is to be called the Son of God.

24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

Jesus once again subjects himself under God,

Third fake
In the oldest original copies of the Bible it says in Genesis 1:2
Now the earth was astonishingly empty, and darkness was on the face of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the face of the water.

but in the "Bible" of the Jehovah's Witnesses it says
... and God's power...

Here they try to present the Holy Spirit as just a "power", but the Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is a person.

The Holy Spirit is the power by which Gods words have always come to man. If you do not have the Spirit you do not belong to God.
Jesus said: " My Words are Spirit and they are life" Ephesians 6:17And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

God will not ask what other denominations believed or thought. Christians baptised with the Spirit will be asked what they did.

Fourth fake
They claim that Jesus is an angel, but Jesus is not once identified as that. The Bible even makes a clear distinction between Jesus and the angels.
Hebrews 1: 5-8
For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”?
And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all Gods’s angels worship him.”
Of the angels he says, “He makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.”
But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.

Angels are referred to as Sons of God and Adam a human man referred to as a Son of God. Believers referred to as Children of God.
But Jesus was fully human and divine in nature in that he lived as God would have him live obeying him.
A second Adam born of the will of God not the will of flesh. Moses was made like a god unto Pharaoh and his brother Aaron his prophet.

King James Bible
And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

King James Bible
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.

What Moses did his power was the finger of God. Gods power and Jesus did the same. read up on the finger of God.

Fifth fake
They claim that the Holy Spirit is not a person but only a power. But the Bible clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit is a person.
The Holy Spirit ...
• teaches the disciples (Luke 12:12, John 14:26, 1 Corinthians 2:13)
• leads the sons(Romans 8:14, Galatians 5:18)
• witnesses the forgiveness of sins to Christians (Hebrews 10:15)
• convict the world of sin, justice and judgment (John 16:8-11)
• leads believers into the whole truth (John 16:13)

The Scriptures not only show that the Spirit of God is acting, but are also presented as someone with whom something happens.
The Holy Spirit can ...
• to be blasphemed (Mark 3:29-30)
• be lied to (Acts 5:3)
• be tried, that is, put to the test (Acts 5:9)
• to be fought (Acts 7:51)
• be saddened (Ephesians 4:30)

The Holy Spirit is a person and the power of God in a believers life.
KJV
Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

The Spirit warns and corrects us.

Sixth fake
They claim that Jesus is not God, but the Bible teaches the opposite.
  • Jesus is omnipotent (Revelation 1:8)
  • Jesus is the true God (John 20:28-29) (Romans 9:5) (1 John 5:20)(Isaiah 9:6)(Hebrews 1:8)
  • Jesus is the creator (Romans 11:36) (Colossians 1:16-17)
  • God became flesh and Jesus is this flesh (John 1:1+14) (1 Timothy 3:16)
  • Jesus is worshipped (Acts 7:59-60)

It doesn't. It teaches that God was in Christ and that he put his words in his mouth.. God told us clearly that Jesus is to be called the Son of God.
If you worship Jesus as if he was God then you break the first commandment. Christ was clear about those whom he says he never knew. It is those who do not obey his
commandments to love GOD FIRST AND their neighbour as themselves. ........
Seventh fake
They teach that the name "Jehovah" is God's(father) name, but that's not true. This name is wrong.
The name jehovah is a fictitious name of the catholic church, in the 14th or 15th century catholic theologians mixed the title AdOnAi with YHWH and from this came "Jehovah".
The name Jehovah is wrong not only because it was created by a "mix", but also because the letters J and V are not present in Ancient Hebrew. The J is usually a Y and the V/W is a U (in ancient hebrew there are no J or V/W sound). Also, "YHWH" is wrong, because the letter W did not exist until much later. The W was a "double U" before it was changed. YHUH is the right form and not "YHWH".
The name Jehovah is not only wrong but also blasphemy, because Je-hovah means earth-disaster. The Je comes from the Greek and means also in Greek earth, Hovah means in Hebrew disaster. Strong's Hebrew: 1943. הֹוָה (hovah) -- a ruin, disaster
Yud(Y)-Hei(AH)-UaU(U)-Hei(AH) are the 4 letters of the name.
If you connect all the letters now, then the name YAHUAH comes out. That's the true name of the father. In the ancient Hebrew, YHUH does not mean "I am who I am," , but BEHOLD A HAND, BEHOLD A NAIL.

I have been with you all this time, yet you have not known me. King James Bible
Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
King James Bible
Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

So Jesus was just as the Father and did as the Father did. Looking at Jesus you see the actions of God. Jesus had to be fully human to die. God cannot die he is the only true immortal. So Jesus is the Son of God and does as his Father does. So when you see Jesus you are seeing do what God does.

The JW cult is kicks anyone out who doesn't do it their way!

Here is a cool way to illustrate the difference:

1) Brainwashing would be strapping a person to a chair and using psychological methods, such as forced viewing and listening to something, electro therapy, waterboarding, to achieve its ends.

2) Undue Influence doesn't start with physically strapping a person to a chair. Lovebombing, manipulation of facts and gradually isolating a person from society through persuasive means through use of language, catch phrase and emotional manipulation and taking advantage of ones ignorance would be used to achieve its ends.

JW's would be outright against point one because it would be immoral to them. Dangerous cults use point 2 and those who use it aren't aware that they are using on the most part because they are indoctrinated already. The leaders might know very well what they are doing though.

Scientology would be a good cult to study to compare. Research how people join cults to get a better explanation. Read one of Steve Hassan's books as well or watch a video of his.

Top 10 Dangerous Cults
www.toptenz.net/top-10-cults.php

Not everyone agrees on which are cults.

  1. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society (Jehovah's Witnesses). Militantly anti-historic Christian …
  2. The Church of Scientology. A do-it-yourself salvation, science fiction group that masquerades as …

Dude, there are loads of cults. Those are the top 10 most dangerous and most popular. There are hundreds of them. Different cults have a different degree of extremism and danger levels. The JW' s and the regular Mormon Church certainly are not violent and therefore are not even remotely as dangerous.

One shouldn't look at what people often think are cults or not. Because one must look at the methods of cult psychology and see whether they are present in the group. In fact JW's were not known to be a cult until a couple of years ago when ex-members presented material and experiences to researchers. In fact most people do not even know much about JW's so it is no surprise that some do not consider them a cult. All who have researched the comparisons that I know of though agree that they are a dangerous cult to some degree..

So Leah Remini has a whole series about Scientology and in one she even interviews Ex-JW's in one episode.

The shortcut I use to identify a cult are these, as they are common throughout cults and only one point has to be true for the group to qualify:

Do they discourage or demand that followers should avoid anti-group material, higher education, or that outside material cannot be trusted and be dangerous? If they do, it means that they want to control information, which is propoganda, and thus control the members thoughts. It also prevents them from doubting the leadership.

Do they shun former members? This serves a two fold purpose: It defends against outside information and alternative views. Ostracizing people affects the ex member negatively, as humans are social creatures, especially if their whole family has to shun them. It has a good chance of controlling them emotionally and is emotional bullying that makes them return to the group. Therefore, the members who want to leave are held under duress, and are free to leave, but most likely would not want to leave as leaving comes at a tremendous cost.

Are members of the group not allowed to express their actual viewpoints if it doesn't gel with the groups ideas? This is also thought control, falls under behaviour control and possibly under information control. If one cannot express their viewpoints even if they are valid if it contradicts the groups viewpoint.

You have to prove the less than credible things in the Bible are factual, with verifiable evidence to back them up. But of course you have none, you are just spouting empty air.

People want to belong.. Shunning must be an awful thing if even your friends and family have to ignore you.

Shunning has led to suicides in many cases. Most JW's are not aware of the consequences shunning has on those shunned because they are told shunning is what God requires, they are disobeying God if they do not shun former members, they aren't informed of the negatives of the organisation and its rules and do not consider the emotional impacts possible conclusions. The History of the JW's and what the Organisation does is either white washed or revised by those in control of the group.
