Isaiah 40:10

See, the Lord God comes with might, and his arm rules for him; his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

Jeremiah 17:10

I the Lord test the mind and search the heart, to give to all according to their ways, according to the fruits of their doings.

Jeremiah 21:14

I will punish you according to the fruit of your doings, says the Lord.

Jeremiah 31:30

But all shall die for their own sins; the teeth of everyone who eats sour grapes shall be set on edge.

Jeremiah 32:18-19

O great and might God whose name is Lord of Hosts, great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are open to all the ways of mortals, rewarding all according to their ways, according to the fruit of their doings.

Matthew 3:10 [John the Baptist]

Even Now the ax is at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown in the fire.

Matthew 7:15-20

Beware false prophets who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree the does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus You shall know them by their fruits.

Matthew 7:21

Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in Heaven.

Matthew 16:27

For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of the Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done.

Mark 12:40

They devour widows' houses and for the sake of appearance say long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.

John 5:28-29

For the hour is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice and will come out - those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of condemnation.

Romans 2:9-11

There will be anguish and distress for everyone who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also Greek. For God shows no partiality.

Romans 2:12-16

All who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not for the hearers of the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but the doers of the law but doers of the law who will be justified. When Gentiles, who do not possess the law, do instinctively what the law requires, these, though not having the law, are a law to themselves. They show that the law is written in their hearts, to which their own conscience also bears witness; and their conflicting thoughts will accuse or perhaps excuse them on the day when, according to my gospel, God, through Jesus Christ, will judge the secret thoughts of all. NRSV

1 Corinthians 3:12-15

Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw – the work of each builder will become visible, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each has done. If what has been built upon the foundation survives, the builder will receive a reward. If the work is burned up, the builder will suffer loss; the builder will be saved, but only as through fire.

2 Corinthians 5:10

For all of us must appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each may receive recompense for what has been done in the body, whether good or evil.

James 2:14-17

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food and one of you says to them “Go in peace, keep warm and eat your fill.” and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead.

James 2:18

But someone will say “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

James 2:19

You believe God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe – and shudder.

James 2:20

Do you want to be shown, you senseless person, that faith apart from works is barren?

James 2:21-23

Was not our ancestor Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the alter? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was brought to completion by works. Thus the scripture was fulfilled that says “Abraham believed in God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness.” and he was called the friend of God.

James 2:24

You see that a person is justified by works and NOT by faith alone.

James 2:25

Likewise, was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she welcomed the messengers and sent them out by another road? (Joshua 2:1-21)

James 2:26

For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead.

Revelations 14:13

And I heard a voice from heaven saying “Write this: Blessed are the dead who from now on die in the Lord.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labors, for their DEEDS will follow them.”

Revelations 20:12-13

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books. And the sea gave up the dead that were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done.

Revelations 22:12

See, I am coming soon; my reward is with me, to repay according to everyone’s work.

SALVATION BY WORKS - BELIEF WITHOUT WORKS IS DEAD

Couldn't the translators have used smaller sentences?

Mortal Sin - We cannot judge for God what is a Mortal Sin. Catechism pp1861

Ephesians 2:1-10 by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing

How do you reconcile all this with your last passage, Ephesians 2, where we are not saved by works call but by grace?

Here is the way I see it.

We are saved, by the grace of God. Because we didn't do anything to deserve it. He made a plan whereby we could be saved, not because of anything we have done, but because of his great love and mercy toward us. But remember, we are saved by grace, through faith. And faith without works is dead. So it does take works also. But we are talking about works of faith, not works of the law.
