The mother of Jesus

Yes I recall hearing about this as well. I think in that region between Mesopotamia and Egypt there were peoples who experienced a lot of variability with respect to who controlled them and the extent to which they were controlled. Perhaps a agricultural community and a nomadic community were in long contact with each other and a sort of ideal mixture of attitudes resulted which produced a more refined idea of individual and social identity, one more adaptable to both migratory AND rooted existence. The narrative of Genesis seems to describe this sort of mixture rather clearly once you become aware of it.

The "townies" gave their livestock to the bedu to move from gazing area to grazing area. The bedu provided them with meat and leather and salt... In turn the townies gave them grain, pottery and textiles. That's a bit simplistic but that's how it worked...

The reason the Jews moved into the Hill Country to settle is because they lost those relationships to the Philistines and had to settle and raise their own grain.

Actually, those who believe are actually all saints.

I may not agree with confessionals and Hail Mary's, however, Mary was acknowledged by Jesus, his disciples, a great example of "great faith", spiritual insights, and a great example of being a Christian. So I would disagree with your overall position.

I'm sorry for your experience with your mom, but not all mom's are like that. I revere my mom.

I revere my mother, who recently passed away from cancer. And she gets slandered just like the mother of Jesus.

But Catholics pray to her, they construct icons to her, they worship her. It's been noted that she commands more worship, prayer and attention among Catholics than Jesus does.

Oh piffle.. They know the difference even if you don't.

I know you are aching to bore us all to death with your crank notions, but...sorry, find someone else to indulge you.

From your post #34, we learn that you are a practicing Catholic, which church believes that there was an alien (NON HUMAN) eternal life form, who lived with his father before the creation of the Cosmos, in fact, he, with his father created this boundless cosmos, then some two thousand years ago, this alien life form came down to earth and sneaked himself into the womb of some supposed ever virgin, where he created for himself a humanlike body, which unlike every other human who has walked this earth, was not of the seed of Adam, and therefore not under the penalty of death, because of the original sin of the father of mankind.

This alien life form eventually took that human like body to the cross and had it killed, which was the plan of his invisible alien father right from the start, who, after raising that human like body to life again, translated it to a body of energy and his son then ascended back to their eternal home where they lived before they created the Cosmos.

And you have the audacity to call another’s belief a ‘CRANK NOTION.’ O my goodness me.

Before explaining my belief, which you consider to be no more than a CRANK NOTION, let us examine from where the church of Emperor Constantine, which was established in the fourth century C.E., Originated.

The apostles did not teach the false doctrine of the so-called non-biblical VIRGIN conception and birth, of Jesus by his mother Mary.

In the days of the Apostle Paul, the people were already beginning to fall away from the truth, and following another gospel that was not taught by the word of God or the apostles.

In his 2nd letter to the Corinthians 11: 4; Paul says, “You gladly tolerate anyone who comes to you and preaches a different Jesus, not the one we preached; and you accept a spirit (The Lie) and a gospel completely different from the spirit (Of Truth) and the gospel you received from us.”

So, what was that other gospel that was leading the people away from the truth and away from the Jesus as preached by the Apostles, to another false Jesus?

That gospel was the word of the anti-christ, that refused to acknowledge that Jesus had come as a human being, and instead, they believed that he was a spirit, who, like some Hologram, would appear and disappear at will.

Even in the later days of John, the false teaching that Jesus was not of the seed of Adam from which every human being who has, or ever will walk this earth, has descended, and had not come as a human being, but as a spiritual being, was already beginning to rear its ugly head, and concerning that evolving falsehood, John had this to say.

1st letter of John 4:1-3; “My dear friends, do not believe all who claim to have the spirit, (My words are spirit) but test them to find out if the spirit [teachings] they have come from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere. This is how you will be able to know if it is Gods spirit/word: anyone who acknowledges that Jesus came as a human being has the spirit who comes from God. But anyone who denies this about Jesus does not have the spirit from God. The spirit that he has is from the enemy of the anointed one, the Anti-christ etc.”

2nd letter of John verses 7-10; “Many deceivers have gone out all over the world, people who do not acknowledge that Jesus came as a human being. Such a person is a deceiver and an enemy of Christ.”

Where would one expect to find the teaching that Jesus was not a true human being, “Born of the seed of Adam” which has been spread ALL OVER THE WORLD.

In Alexandria, by the second century, ‘Docetism,’ the concept that Jesus had existed as a spirit rather than a human being, had all but theoretically been stamped out. But still, there persisted the belief that their Jesus, although seen as a sort of human being, did not have our normal bodily needs, such as eating, drinking and excretion, and Clement the bishop of Alexandria, wrote: “It would be ridiculous to imagine that the redeemer, in order to exist, had the usual needs of man. He only took food and ate it in order that we should not teach about him in a Docetic fashion.” Satan must have had some trouble trying to tempt this false Jesus of theirs who had no need of food etc, into turning stones into bread, even though it is said in Luke 4: 2 that he was hungry at that time.

Their Jesus was not the Jesus as taught by the apostles, but that other Jesus, taught by the Anti-Christ, who unlike we mere HUMAN BEINGS, did not need to eat, drink, or go to the toilet, as was taught by one of the great teachers that the authorities of Emperor Constantine’s universal church, used as one of their authorities when trying to defend their false doctrines.

Saint Clement of Alexandria, who was a saint in the Martyrology of the Roman universal church, in support of the great lie, speaks of the time that some imaginary midwife, who was supposed to be at the birth of Jesus, (Non-biblical) told some woman by the name Salome, that the mother was still a virgin after the birth and that her hymen was still intact, and that this supposed Salome, stuck her finger into the mother’s vagina to check, and her hand immediately withered up, but the baby Jesus reached out and touched her hand and healed it.

Clement was accepted as a saint in the universal church, which was established by Emperor Constantine, from a rag-tag group of insult hurling religious bodies, who called themselves christians. Eventually, sick to the stomach with their constant quarreling and abuse toward each other, Constantine summoned all the leaders of those groups to the first ever "World Council of churches," where, in 325 AD, some 300 years after the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ had been firmly established in Jerusalem, the non-christian, and almost certainly theologically illiterate Constantine, established his universal church, which has nothing to do with the Jesus as taught by the apostles.

Down to the 17th century Clement was venerated as a saint. His name was to be found in the Martyrologies, and his feast fell on December 4. But when the Roman Martyrology was revised by Clement VIII (Pope from 1592 to 1605), his name was dropped from the calendar on the advice of his confessor, Cardinal Baronius. Pope Benedict XIV in 1748 maintained his predecessor's decision on the grounds that Clements life was little-known; that he had never obtained public cultus in the Church; and that some of his doctrines were, if not erroneous, at least highly suspect.

"ERRONEOUS--HIGHLY SUSPECT," they certainly got that right, but by then the false teaching of the so-called virgin birth had become firmly established in the minds of the gullible, which are now so mixed up and set as hard as concrete, one would need a sledge hammer to crack them open and allow the light of truth to enter in.

The persistence of the Jews speaks to what you say but also the historical facts seem to indicate that the Jews were a Canaanite people who through various factors found themselves evolving a monotheistic religion out of a native polytheistic one. .

Perhaps the book of Daniel was written after the Fifth Century - to explain away the Messiah coming
to his temple while it still stood, and the fall of Roman empire which had destroyed him.
Or maybe the New Testament was written after 1967 to explain away how Jesus knew the Jews
would be scattered and return to take back Jerusalem when the Gentiles time was fulfilled.

No, one can read the Bronze Age in the early OT texts. It's been written and rewritten many times,
but there was, generally speaking, a respect for the original text.
Until recently people tried to say Jewishness was just a religion and not a race. But with DNA we
can not only see the Jewish race but even discern at least one of the 12 tribes - the Levites.

You seem to have a petty problem.

It's not "petty"
People who pray to Mary, without any scriptural permission, are in effect
creating another spiritual entity. And worse, recreating the queens of
heaven so prevalent in pagan societies. God will judge such people -
Mary won't.

I don't think that there would be too many people in the world today, who do not carry the DNA of Abraham, whose descendants have been scattered throughout the earth, interbreeding with the many different races, and I do like your post #108, well said.

It's kind of cool that she has become a kind of Goddess figure (as far as Christianity has one), given that she provides the unconditional maternal love sometimes lacking in the God figure.

Jesus, the grandson of Alexander Helios=Heli was called God, the son of God, King of kings, etc, which was not unusual in those days. Originally, Cleopatra ruled with her father Ptolemy XII and later with her brothers, Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV, whom she married as per Egyptian custom, but eventually she became sole ruler.

No children were born from her union with her two brothers, but she did bear a son [Caesarion] to Julius Caesar, who was later elevated to co-ruler in name only. It is also written, at the time the assassination of Caesar by Brutus and his companions, that Cleopatra was living in Rome in a villa of Caesars, who then, fearing for her life also, fled Rome and returned to Alexandria in Egypt.

Cicero was to later write a series of letters alluding to the fact that she was at that time pregnant with a second child by Julius Caesar. If Caesarion, the son of Julius Caesar and Clepoatra, who Augustus had murdered, had a full sister she would not have been seen as a threat to the new Caesar Augustus as Caesarion was, and would have been spared, as no woman could rule in Rome.

Cleopatra represented herself as the reincarnation of the Egyptian goddess ‘Isis’, and was given the title of “Queen of Kings” by Mark Anthony. Her son ‘Caesarion’ was also given many titles, including ‘god’, ‘Son of god’ and ‘King of Kings’ and was depicted as Horus the son of Isis. It was after the assassination of Caesar in 44 BC, that Cleopatra coupled up with Mark Anthony and in 40 BC she bore to him the twins Cleopatra Selene II and Alexander Helios, and later on another son, Ptolemy Philadelphus.

In late 34 BC, at the Donations of Alexandria, shortly after Anthony had conquered Armenia, Cleopatra and Caesarion were crowned rulers of Egypt and Cyprus. Alexander Helios, their six-year-old son, was crowned ruler of Aemenia, Media and Parthia; Cleopatra Selene II, Heli’s six-year-old twin sister, was crowned ruler of Cyrenaica and Libya, and Ptolemy Philadelphus, the younger of their three children was crowned ruler of Phoenicia, Syria and Cilicia.

Isis was the most popular goddess from the time of Psamtik 1 (663-610 B.C) till the coming of Christianity, her cult appealed to the Greeks and Romans alike and when Egypt came under Roman rule, her cult spread through much of Europe. By the time of Jesus, the chief centre of her worship was in Rome. Isis is commonly depicted with Horus the child (Harpocrates) on her lap, and today, it is almost impossible to distinguish between the late pagan and early Christian figures of the mother and child, [Isis and Horus---Mary and Jesus] it’s almost as though the old Pagan Queen was stripped of her mythical garments and clothed with the new covering of Christianity.

The logic fallacy is this - there are similarities, therefor they are the same.
The Son of God in the NT is fulfillment of the Son of God in the OT - the one
despised and rejected, disbelieved even by his brothers and sisters, who bore
our sins, without natural beauty, meek and lowly, coming to his temple while it
still stands, fulfilling all the law, doing away with the commandments, our high
priest, betrayed for 30 pieces of silver, offered upon the tree, given vinegar and
gall to drink, his hands and feet pierced, forsaken even of his Father. But also
the one who looked back after the crucifixion and was satisfied that he redeemed
his people, and his Gospel message would go out to all the world.

It is also a logical fallacy to use a logical fallacy as a strawman. It is true that similarities do not mean the same, necessarily. But it is also true that they can. In this case, it is likely that God and Goddess figures are related on a psychological level, if not culturally. They represent supernormal stimulus for parental figures--hence titles like Son of, Holy Father, Holy Mother, etc. Given that there are innate response mechanisms related to "parents," it isn't suprising to find that a species capable of manipulating their environment such as us would use supernormal stimulus to combat some of the harsh realities of understanding that environment: such as inevitability of death. By having heavenly parental figures, there will always be someone to love and protect us.

Can you quote the verse?

Let me clarify.

My view of God is more pantheistic. I understand God as the relationship between living things and their environment. Since "God" can be described as the conscious agent behind reality and living things are the consiousness of the Universe (being a part of the whole), we are all in a co-creating relationship even with whatever other deities may be out there.

Also, since with consiousness, reality dissolves into infinite "no-thingness," defining things (the Word) through modeling relationships with our discriminating senses brings the Universe out from the Void. Thus, God's Word is a constant process shared by living things.
