Not a nice topic. The Story of Lucifer

osgart

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Luke 22:31 Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.

The original fundamental christian story of the devil:

The Lucifer i was thinking of has no empathy, no remorse, no pity, no care nor love for anyone. Despises souls all day, loves to tell lies to destroy everything about anyone innocent. Is malevolent, malicious and confident in destruction. Despises fairness, despises all well being but his own , and uses everyone and everything to serve only his own purposes. Is a master of depravity and wickedness. Likes to appear as a goodly person in order to do harm. His only purpose is to end all honest people, and torment them day and night forever and ever in a state of eternal powerless, unbearable torment.

Anyone loyal to that Lucifer's purposes will be used and driven for those exact purposes and when they are of no use, he will simply end them if he cant find a self serving murdering use for their existence for his power alone glory.

And if this Lucifer gets his victory, he will revel in his own mayhem forever and ever til he is all by himself with every heavenly power and thing in his full control. Everything and everybody a toy of his own maliciousness til he is absolutely alone and God of all. And from there he will end all those whom served his purposes.

Thats the epitome of evil. A real puker.

Has anyone else heard this version of the story?

Err, I think the first in the Divine Comedy series, the Inferno (better known in the West as "Dante's Inferno") seems close to that depiction. Kind of boring as a villain really. Though the depiction is a little humorous.
I prefer depictions which dissect his rebellion, since it was pretty ballsy for him to challenge God knowing he would lose in the end anyway. Even Paradise Lost, which was meant to "justify the ways of God to men" he's a little more interesting than simply a bad egg who does bad. Even interpreted as a tragic or Hellenic hero by some.
A disgruntled son, an empathetic foil or even a servant merely playing his part. Far more interesting potential for storytelling and even artistic/religious interpretations.

That truly is a Far Better Story!

But the fundamentalists, quite a few of them, gave me this Christian version. They are dead serious about it being real too.

It seems a lot of them are fighting this as a war. There once was a guy whom gave me a Bible tract entitled " Hell! What you would be missing!"

Has anyone ever encountered such dire Christianity before? Or am i just an unfortunate bloke!

It describes god of the Old Testament to a T! If you ask me, Satan in the Bible comes across as being pretty much the nice guy.

It makes me want to throw the bible through a wall!

God wasnt real nice! To say the least! Offing with the firstborn of Egypt and commanding to kill the philistines in his name, on and on.

All references to Evil, Devil, Satan or lucifer is referrnce to our Lower self. Then is no independent force of Evil, it is just lack of good, our own choices.

I'm wondering if there's an ancient testament of Satan out there just waiting to be discovered.

There are no heroes in the bible story, and the characters are vague at best.

But the point remains that people interpret the book however they want to, to suit their intentions.

People read the bible and take it dead serious in the most extreme ways.

Oh, you're speaking of the peddler of such a version?
Apologies, I thought you were speaking of the story itself. To which I was confused since anyone who's lived even a minute in the West should be somewhat familiar with.
The Chick Tract (as they are commonly known) may be a bit more American, but I've gotten one or two over the years. Er...interesting people.
The Bible Reloaded channel on YT has a great series reading through (mocking) the many they've gotten/found.

The story itself is gruesome . We have a Baptist Church down the street that is quite busy on Sundays and they peddle the stuff quite a bit.

I figured it was common enough that eveyone knows about it, but i was not sure.

I will have to check that YT channel out, thanks!

Ehh, compared to the folklore I grew up reading, it’s rather blasé, to be honest.
TBR is pretty awesome lol

Don't confuse Lucifer with Satan. Lucifer is not mentioned anywhere in Christian scriptures.
