Leviticus isn’t Christian — it’s Judaic. And ancient, and from a different culture. And it’s not Gods words, it’s the words of the authors who wrote it.
No, my argument is with the one who misinterprets in order to keep discriminating against those who need compassion. I’d say there is one here who clearly does not know what he is talking about, and it ain’t the one with a master’s degree in biblical studies.

You misrepreent God's Word in order to promote sin. For this you will be held accountable to God. You are confused saying that the Old Testament scriptures are not Chrsitian when everything that we have in the New Testament comes from the Old Testament scriptures. In the days of Jesus and the disciples their bible was the Old Testament scriptures and it was the Old Testament scriptures that pointed to Jesus and God's plan of salvation in the New Testament. Everything that is written in the New Testament comes from the Old Testament scriptures. Together it is both the Old and New Testament scriptures that make up the Word of God (the bible) and is why it is written in the New Testament. To say that the old Testament scriptures are not Christian is to say that the New Testament scriptures are not Chrsitian. I guess you did not think this through very well when it is the New Testament scriptures that say...

Well if you both tried not focusing on the act. An put a miniscule amount though into why leviticus was written I'm sure it would be less tedious

Hey, I tried to tell him. Actually, it is all about the act. It has to do with the way shame and honor are sexually-embedded in that culture. Males embodied honor; women embodied shame. That’s why the law was about male/male sex only. In order to be righteous, men had to treat other men honorably. To treat another man as if he were a woman was to treat that man in a shameful (female) way. And for a man to bend over and “take it like a woman” was to act like a female, therefore shamefully. It’s the whole acting like a female/treating like a female shame that makes the act an “abomination.”

Additionally, there’s the whole “wasting the seed” issue. None of it is “because homosexuality,” like most think today. Orientation was an unknown thing in that culture. Therefore, any same-sex act was treated as”unnatural.” We know differently today. The mental health community does not consider homosexuality to be unhealthy or unnatural.

I’ve spent time with eminent biblical scholars and put a lot of study into it. The act (if undertaken with love and respect and wholehearted commitment) isn’t sin in this culture, because we have a different understanding of sexual identity and shame/honor.

It doesn’t matter which are which! That’s the point of the gospel. The point is not how pious you are. The point is that righteousness is found in doing justice and loving mercy. Where’s the justice and mercy in the prejudice against homosexuals?

These bracket the parables discourse. A parable is a story that is parabolic — that is, runs counter to the way we think things work. Matthew’s thrust is that Jesus’ followers constitute a True Israel, where justice and mercy count for more than personal piety. In God’s kin-dom, how we treat homosexuals is far more important than who is homosexual, or whether someone is homosexual.

Maybe you should get a hold of Jesus Christ and let him know it doesn't matter which is which of the wheat and tares.

Cardinals aren’t necessarily biblical scholars. I’m talking about the ones who write the peer reviewed scholarly journals, commentaries and bible translations.

Maybe you should get a hold of Jesus Christ and let him know it doesn't matter which is which of the wheat and tares.

You are judging me, you make statements which might make sense to you, but unless you have had my experience of life, which is very different to yours, you haven't a clue about my actual mindset.

Evasion is not a form of defense and if you understood what I had written then you would have known it was not a judgment. How come you have no answers to matters dealing with faith?

Asking Jesus into my heart, before I started asking serious questions about the credibility of the faith.
Born again is being born of the Spirit which comes from faith in Christ Jesus. A good example is in Acts where the disciples who believed in Jesus all obeyed him and was baptised with the Holy Spirit. So many will believe in Jesus and perform miracles in his name. But all will not be known by Jesus.

I only suggested Jesus might be gay as it is stated in the gospels he had a specific disciple whom he loved, who was presumably male.
Understandable. But in Middle Eastern cultures, it's more acceptable for men to show physical intimacy (like holding hands, kissing on the cheek, etc.) without it reflecting on their sexuality than it is in Western culture. We shouldn't read ancient texts through our modern cultural mores.

That said, I do agree that Christianity tends to be a sex hating religion and most of the people crying about blasphemy are just doing that for homophobic reasons.

I once read a book about the History of England and it reported that a contemporary writer stated that 'Kisses everywhere, kisses upon greeting, kisses upon leaving, kisses kisses.' from the women to other women and men.
