Do you ever long for more happiness, but fear that wanting it is selfish or naive?

Then tried Google -

Belief deserve happiness

Here is the first 2 catch my eye -

Last week I got one about self-sabotage, which I'll share anonymously below. I addressed it in my video blog because it struck such a chord in me. I thought, "How did I stop self-sabotaging?" Let me be frank here: I used to be the Queen of Self-Sabotage Land.

You Deserve Happiness, Not Self-Sabotage

Daily good kindness tosses up a few -

4 December: listen wholeheartedly to someone without judging them. This is a difficult one: when hearing about problems friends are facing, we are quick to offer advice, and in doing so, sometimes try to impose our views.

For a state of happiness also proves interesting ...

One of the biggest challenges in life is learning to accept people for who they truly are. Once you realize that your expectations cannot change people, the better off you will be. The problem will arise when the expectations do not materialize. If you find that you are going out of your way much more than the people you surround yourself with, it may be time to make some adjustments.

Happiness is not a destination

“Create a kinder world”

Dr. Amit Sood, professor of medicine and chair of the Mind-Body Initiative with the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program; author of “The Mayo Clinic Guide to Stress-Free Living” and “The Mayo Clinic Handbook for Happiness”

“I will make at least one person feel worthy every day. The reason: we are so busy trying to figure out how to live longer, be more connected, have cheaper energy, and faster everything, but if we do not build all this around the core of kindness, then none of our success will matter,” Sood said about his 2017 resolution.

He said if people embrace kindness, everything else will follow.

“An essential step to create a happier world is to create a kinder world. Our children deserve that.”

Bernie Glassman broke open our idea of what Buddhism could be, says Andrea Miller. He fed the hungry, cared for the sick, and bore witness to the world’s pain.

Quite a few in fact -

How Do I Work with My Fear of Other People’s Anger?

Building a better self? -

Ego is the one affliction we all have in common. Because of our understandable efforts to be bigger, better, smarter, stronger, richer, or more attractive, we are shadowed by a nagging sense of weariness and self-doubt. Our very efforts at self-improvement orient us in an unsustainable direction since we can never be certain whether we have achieved enough. We want our lives to be better but we are hamstrung in our approach.

Disappointment is the inevitable consequence of endless ambition, and bitterness a common refrain when things do not work out. Dreams are a good window into this. They hurl us into situations in which we feel stuck, exposed, embarrassed, or humiliated, feelings we do our best to keep at bay during our waking hours.

Our disturbing dreams are trying to tell us something, however. The ego is not an innocent bystander. While it claims to have our own best interests at heart, in its relentless pursuit of attention and power it undermines the very goals it sets out to achieve. The ego needs our help. If we want a more satisfying existence, we have to teach it to loosen its grip.
